Can Bangladesh defeat Bangladesh?
Zeeshan Mahmud

Can Bangladesh, defeat its worst enemy, namely itself, to win the World T20 Cup? Either Bangladesh will crash out of the World Cup at first opportunity or pull out the greatest miracle of the century by stealing the cup. Which will it be? Zeeshan previews.

We have to be realistic about our prospect in the upcoming tournament. We don't want to over rate our team to an extent that eventually results in being the subject of international laughing stock. Having said that, anything is possible in T20 games as it is circus cricket IMHO.

Just like our camp we have to take one game at a time. If we secure our next round berth then I can start dreaming, again with a hint of reality.

Good article anyway.

Bangladesh have lost so much matches, in so many diverse scenarios, that they have become fairly adept at knowing how a loss can creep up on them and from which angle.

But we haven't had enough wins to know the winning scenarios and how to handle that. All the best...:)

Thanks everyone.

@Banfan, While you do highlight a good point, the fact remains one cannot take away experience. We _are_ culturally a nation with negative mindset. To harp the oft-repeated cliche of Edison: If we fail 10,000 times then in context of Bangladesh progress, we are nosediving to a pitfull of Steyns and Mendis. BHEU. But, as one knows, one can as well learn from those 10,000 mistakes. Success and progress takes time. Hence the predicative meaning of: EXPERIENCE.

It is a magic number. It takes about 10,000 attempts for one to ingrain good habits in muscle memory. Bangladesh have found themselves in so many different losing situations that they do have a better picture of how to avoid these same scenarios. Our team cannot lose by playing more and more; they can only gain. Only difference is whereas others team learns quickly, adapts and builds on previous mistakes, Bangladesh is not always the quicker one to do so.

Nice article but I must say the second half of the article doesn't make a strong enough case. I suspect Zee himself doesn't believe in the second half but I could be wrong. The first half dealt with a lot numbers, I would have liked some stats showing our improvement in T-20 for the latter half. I believe we are a strong side that suffers from inconsistency and rather than basing the argument solely on "anything can happen", a strong case can be made on why we should be able to beat NZ

O Contraire!

I felt first part was weakly argued. While first part was grounded more on reason and stats, second case was just emotion. (The same emotion that fueled us during Asia Cup and NZ wash.) And it was not more of 'anything can happen' argument rather the guts and gusto we possess. I know I should argue with equal merit, but my "real" voice was in the latter. YES. WE. CAN.
