why does every comment you make has to be a thread?

Yes that was the problem...we didn't have enough half trackers from our 'pacers'

Think you might be in line for Team Strategist

And then what? We all know there's little we can do when batsman takes aggressive mode and decides to thwack every bad deliveries for boundaries, right?

It wouldn't have mattered. Did you see the body language of Mash? Whenever he got hit for a boundary, he was like- 'how did it happen omfg somebody help'. My question is why was he so amazed? It's T20 and the batsman was Kalam bhai. WTH did you expect? When you get hit for a boundary, you should be pissed and come back with extra venom in the next delivery thinking 'I'm gonna get that SOB out'. Don't just act like a Katerina victim. And he's called our pace spearhead :smh: When I saw his (and others too) body language, I knew things were gonna be bad.

And the less said about Shafiul, the better. Clueless. Abul wouldn't have made any difference either. If you are a well wisher of Abul, you should be glad the kid was spared the spanking.

Not one of them has the attitude or the confidence of a fast bowler. They are just cannon fodder.

You are on point, like a ball is.

Now question is why are we at the receiving end of such innings ALWAYS? Coventry, Gillespie, Watson, Sehwag, and now McDaddy. ALL OF THEM ARE HUGE PILINGS.

My two theories:

"There's little we can do." Our bowlers and fielders when get hit instead of your said venom goes on the backfoot and becomes lackadaisical and thinks: "Oh it's not as if they will score 15-ball 200 so they become passive and let the game unfold without causing pressure.
Because of the mediocrity-driven culture of praising some when they get a 2.0 GPA in Junior High, I think our players cannot IMAGINE that someone can play such big innings. Correction: No you losers, it's YOU who cannot play such great knocks. Just cuz you guys suck at NOT pounding opponents - instead of playing for a meanie-weanie 'w' notch- doesn't mean THEY cannot IMAGINE of playing a game for life itself. Eg: I just saw the big knocks of Levi, McCullum vs Australia century, Gayle 92 and it's like their target is to play for the love of game itself and to crack the boundary or limitations set for themselves.
While these players are happy only to climb everest, our players huffs and puffs climbing Bashundara city's staircase when the goddamn elevator breaks down.
Mediokarer doll shob.

Sadly it doesn't matter if we play 2 or 3 pacers because besides Mash, they just suck. Losing Rubel for this tournament really hurts because he was doing well up until his injury. He would've filled a huge gap in our bowling. Shafiul looked promising but honestly, he looks like he's lost it. We need more quality bowlers before we can become a better side. Abul and Taskin look like they have potential. Looks like we have to hold out hope that they end up being good quality pacers.

Agree here Zeeshan bhai. On a different note our players do at times pull off amazing performances but more often than not they don't carry it throughout to finish it off. Its like in an ODI, Tamim scores a 50 and he thinks his job is done, (Ashraful 30, Mushfiq 30 ... and so on). It seems like ( and thanks to us for over hyping mediocrity ) they have set a limitation and happy to achieve just that (where is the hunger ?). They lack responsibility. I think except Shakib, there is none in the team who would actually think and say to themselves on a given day, that I have to play out of my skin to earn a victory today. Most of them thinks, "oh we have shakib and tamim, I will just let the best players think about it. I will just do enough may be to support them "| attitude. I think this is the only quality that separates Shakib from the rest. We have enough talent some may even surpass shakib, but talent or skill alone doesn't guarantee success.

Agree here Zeeshan bhai.

I disagree the fact that you agree...it's not about necessarily more of a statistical hunger so as to "playing with your whole being" as to quote harsha bhugol today in the match...

shakib's sth,ball 50 was just ashoriri...

we need some more innings like that

I hate the fact that BD batsmen are so happy after they score a 50. When was the last time a BD batsmen scored a 100 in ODI or Test?

@wasi90lkv1. We dont have the quality to exploit conditions. So what if Sri Lanka has bouncy pitches? I reckon we wont even be able to get the best out of bouncy Aussie wickets. Thats the harsh reality. So praise the management for at least trying to play to their strengths.

IMO there are three reasons why our quicks wont make a difference in whatever track

1) Skill: All of our pacers have very very limited skill. They cant swing, cant seam. They dont have yorkers. Reverse swing is out of the question in the shorter version and only Rubel Hossain is capable. Even the slower deliveries are so obvious, NM was just reading Shafiuls mind.

2) Power: You can make up for lack of skill by getting bounce and pace. A little bit of pace is always useful. Unfortunately none of our guys are capable of bowling over 130-135, and none capable of getting bounce.

3) Accuracy: Check Akash Chopra's excellent article (http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/580436.html) on how Tim Southee outsmarted India. He bowled right on the zone-nothing short, nothing overpitched. Right on the McGrath type line where the batsman doesnt know whether to play on the front foot or back. Except Nazmul or maybe Mashrafee no other BD bowler is capable of doing this. But even they start bowling all over once they start getting hit.

So 3 pacer 4 pacer, whatever you play. Unless we improve on these three areas its just adding numbers. They will bowl an over get whacked, and the other 3 will have to bowled by part timers. At the end you will wish you played an extra batsman.

In reality the boundary becomes fielders palms.

When you let Ian Pont go, you are bound to suffer....we have pace bowling coach who is simply incapable coaching this side! Let's get the right coach first. We saw how our pacers did against the same NZ team 2 years ago, but today under the new coach they are simply helpless!

yes we should have played three pacers but ........ when u look at the figures of the 2nd pacer we played that is shafiul how can we consider playing a third pacer. we dont EVEN have a good 2nd pacer to support mashrafe.

Shafiul Islam 3 0 34 0 11.33

Do you think the problems will be solved even if you bring in McDermott or Allan Donald? Coaches cant go to the field and tell the bowlers who bowl. Our guys just buckle under pressure. Even fielding usually its decent. But under pressure it started to get very bad.

We dont have 3 good pacers.
Mash+Nazmul + ???

Whos gonna be your 3rd one? Abul, Shahadat, Syed Rasel, Shafiul, Rubel ?
All of them are rubbish .. Rasel seems to be better than them but his pace isnt his strength

Rubel has pace and killer instinct. He ll get hit, but at least once in a while he ll send the stumps flying. We need bowlers like that.

yes Rubel, Mash and Nazmul would have been the best combination, i dont understand why we cant make bouncy pitches in Bangladesh so that our batsmen and bowlers can get a lot of practice, what we have here are dead pitches where only the spinners can show their talent.
