Not sure really...SL has a bunch of Quality players at home to add to the foreign recruits....I don't know how many we will get this time, after all those scandals with payment....

The important thing is that it will give our local Bangladesh players the confidence to play against players and with players outside of Bangladesh. No T20 league can compete with IPL, they don't have the population and investment India has.

Will there be any player for the auction?? I think, this BPL will see a lots of low graded international players....

Had the franchises paid on time and in full.. or had the BCB/BPL made the payments for them as promised instead of messing about...

..then you would see bigger and bigger names being attracted.

International players are professional and all they expect is for cricket authorities to at least be that. The damage that has been caused to the image of BD cricket is almost incalculable.

Mushy said all of this way back in February.. he warned all about it. But instead of being listened to, he got disciplined:

National skipper Mushfiqur Rahim lambasted the organisers of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League on Tuesday for putting the country in disgrace after their recent drama with the semi-final spot of now-controversial tournament.

Mushfiq, who led Duronto Rajshahi to a shock eight-wicket defeat at the hand of Barisal Burners, blasted the organisers as he had little idea of who he was going to face in the semi-final until the morning.

Before going to sleep he knew that he would be facing Chittagong Kings in the semi-final but he was completely surprised to know that Barisal Burners would rather be his opponents.

‘Definitely, it is very strange and this kind of thing can happen only in Bangladesh,’ Mushfiq said.

‘It shows how this tournament is organised. It is only possible in Bangladesh and we have taken this as a normal case,’ he added.

‘Definitely, it hampered the image of the country,’ Mushfiq told reporters on Tuesday.

‘The tournament is telecast worldwide and they all understood how disorganised we are.’

‘In the first place, Barisal were told that they would be through in a better run rate if they can win [against Chittagong] and they did that. All of a sudden, it was said that Chittagong Kings are through by virtue of head to head. This is a big disgrace for our country,’ he added.

The wicketkeeper batsman also took a swipe at the franchise regarding the players’ payment and doubted if this continued to happen, the tournament would not be able to maintain a positive image.

‘As far as payment is concerned, this was a totally disorganised tournament. It is not only for us but for any overseas players who are yet to receive any money.

‘They told us that they would give us 75 per cent before the end of the tournament but that commitment is not kept. We are paid only 40 to 50 per cent of the money,’ said Mushfiq.

‘In the field, we learnt a lot but off the field, activities were not up to the mark. We need to receive some compensation for our hard work and if that is not guaranteed, I have doubts whether this kind players will come and play in the future,’ he said.

I think it's very much possible to get more players from SA if the league isn't clashing with SA domestic.. They have larger pool of quality players apart from the national team...efforts should be made to have players from All countries.

Preferably tall express bowlers so that our players are confident on playing them. It would be ideal if the pitches had a bit of bounce to really test them and gain confidence from.

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) governing council set a list of the golden categories players’ name. Four Bangladeshi players- Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Ryad were drafted into the golden category from the local players, sources said. On the other hand, Shahid Afridi, Imran Nazir, Saeed Ajmal, Shaun Tait, Driik Nannes, Alfanso Thomas, Brad Hogg, Luke Wright, Owais Shah, Keiron Pollard and Sunil Narine were included into the top category from the foreign players. The notable missing is Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels so far who are unlikely to play the BPL’s second edition.

'Golden' category players would have a base price of US$75,000. The foreign cricketers would have base prices ranging from $50,000 to $15,000, and the local players will have base prices ranging from $30,000 to $10,000

The moment I see Pakistani Players on auction list I started to swear, Blackmailing at its best.

to be honest if you remove the Pakistan players, our league is offically worse than NZ T20 league!

there are 7 teams this year, and looking at the international auction list we might see some rubbish players play.

I want to see more players from England, where is Chris Woakes, Stuart Meaker, James Tredwell, Alex Hales, Danny Briggs.....

There are so many good domestic players England, and why do we see lack of South African where is Smith, Tahir?

And Brett lee is he injured?

a player has to agree (in particular the foreign ones) before being in a certain category....obviously tino best and his agent wanted to be in that category...but it is not necessary that somebody needs to buy them... if some one thinks a player is over priced just give him the reject treatment...:)

So what bad does it cause if any outsiders buy a franchise? What if sahara wants to buy a team and will pay 10mil bucks, away more than the actual price. Isn't it a good thing for bpl? Look how expensive ipl teams got sold for and Bpl teams got sold for bare cheap. Why not allow outsiders buy some franchise. More money, more market for Bpl I reckon!

There are 6 domestic players against 5 foreign players in a XI. Domestic players have the chance to top the charts as well. They just need to lift their games. With the current status of BD cricket I am not too unhappy seeing 5 foreign players in a team. The harder the competition the better it is for our cricket.

There are enough quality players in the list to make the league attractive. But it requires more than on field performance to make a league successful.

Do you understand how an auction works? The category prices are just the minimum bids, I would bet Shakib gets one of the highest amounts, all the franchises will be fighting for him.

I hope the franchises are more prudent this time around. I hope they don't get all excited and start spraying bids all over the place and then later, embarrassingly, it turns out can't afford to pay the players and staff.

Oh I see they have decided to scrap the icon player feature, how will Barisal Burners cope without Shahriar Nafees :-|
Just as I said last year, if the BPL organisers had some sense they could have seen that the Icon player feature didn't work in the IPL as they scrapped it after the first year. The BPL could have avoided the embarrassing situation faced by Nafees and others by learning from the IPL's mistakes but instead they just copied them and now have to scrap it just as the IPL had to,

Shakib is injured infact shouldn't he be getting his operation now? Tamim won't be playing for Chittagong anymore fans must be gutted they will miss out on the local boy. Also 5 foreign players in one team is too much, our locals will hardly get time to bowl or bat. I remember in last season the first 3/4 batsman in the teams were all foreign. Also 3 stadiums is silly, how about 1 for every team? so you won't see empty ones.

It doesn't look like it. Despite having a 2 year contract that covers BPL2 and still owed $20,000 from BPL1, Dhaka Gladiators are just simply ignoring it and not making any contact.

I don't wish to rain on the parade and I am sure that no one really cares about contracts - but this is exactly why there are issues in Bangladesh when there shouldn't be.

Fans rightly only care about watching good cricket. No problem with that. But for those of us who care about what happens to cricket in the country and how unprofessional some people are, it's a reason why Bangladesh has a disorganised, amateurish reputation to some outsiders.

If it is a binding contract you may want to arbitrate Ian. The fan base wants you, you make DG succeed. This is terrible management. When DG did their business plan did they think they will break-even in the 1st year? I wonder if they did a business plan at all!

DG is separate from BCB - I am hoping - but one never knows in this part of the world. Your issue is with DG not BCB - send them a legal letter. You are a professional and need to be paid. It is strictly business - sue them.

Not sure what that would achieve, do you?

You would get communication from DG - a lack of communication is the ultimate business and ethical failure.

You would get the 20k - unless you do not care for it.

You may burn some bridges with DG - but you are resigned to the fact that you will not come. So there is nothing to lose.

You may burn some bridges with BCB - but you do not want to coach Bangladesh - at least not pro-actively desire that from your past postings and intent.

Bangladesh will get a lesson in ethics and hopefully will not pull the same stunt on future coaches. That helps the cricket here in the long run.

Set a precedent. Some one needs to - and you have a case. If you do nothing - then nothing will change. The ultimate failure of society is when good men do nothing.

Well, crikss is almost right there...

You should know that, if a player is sold at higher than the maximum base price (say, base price of one golden category BD player is 70K), BCB will get 60%, player will get 30% and Game On will get 10% of the excess money/ over bid price.

For example, Shakib gets a bid of 170K, according to new BPL rule:
Shakib will get 70K + [30% of over bid price (170K-70K=100K)] 30K = 100K

BCB will get 60K and Game On will get 10K of the excess money/over bid price.

Yes, true. But before that there is one more avenue - a journalistic campaign. Maybe CI/Isam/Daily Star may bat on your behalf before it gets dragged down to the courts - where really cricket does not belong. Last resort must be the law when morality fails.
