Excellent T20 prospect, one of the cleanest hitters in the country along with Sabbir. Has been extremely decent this BPL. Looking forward to see him play for the national T20 side :up:

OK. He is a good prospect as a power hitter, but it's a tad bit early to give him his official thread IMO. Need to see more of him.

What? I second MoC, it's a bit late actually. Although I do think he might get a shot at T20.

Few differences between Zia and Milon.

Zia is a good bowler who does not like to bowl too much . (Well thats the impression you get)

Milon is an ordinary bowler who should not bowl.

Zia can hit a ball 100 metres closing his eyes.

Milon can hit a ball 90 meter without closing his eyes.

Zia's ground fielding is average.

Milon's fielding is more than reasonable.

Only my observation. You dont have to agree.

Zia, Milon and Sabbir should be in the same bracket. Difference is Sabbir has the potential to play in ODIs and can play a long innings, changing gears when he needs to. He can also play in Tests in the future too. Zia and Milon can't. It may be worth investing that #7 T20 spot to Sabbir so he can get International exposure.

i also think same. sabbir is still in that aftab category, easily satisfied. this guy milon had to work hard to get notice. he didnt come through under 19 or BKSP back ground. he get dropped even from dhaka side. finally he is showing consistency. plus he is better hard hitter than anyone in the team. sabbir is still young and promising but needs to show consistency

From last yr's BPL.

Better version of Zia. Not much of technique...but should get the nod ahead of Zia atleast in T20!!!

Yep, hence I feel Milon is more 'ready' than Sabbir at the moment. But I like Sabbir more though, he could be something special in ODI&T20s for BD.

shakibrulz
January 31, 2013, 11:00 PM
You could get both in T20s IMO:
Tamim/Shamsur
Anamul
Mushfiqur
Shakib
Sabbir
Nasir
Milon
Mash
Gazi
Razzak/Sajib/Sunny
Shafiul

That's an awesome T20 lineup, great batting depth, plenty of bowling options.

Ziaur is simply not good enough. Sabbir and Milon are the real deal.

Umar
February 1, 2013, 07:43 PM
is it just me who thinks Milon batting style = Mashrafee on batting form style?

ignore the word "style"... there is NONE of that! His batting is effective but ugly.
Style = 0/100
Technique = -5/100
effectiveness = +45/100
temper = /100

I guess good enough against these mediocre medium pacers/offies/SLA's in t20's.

Shabbir on the other hand has style, technique, Power, effect(batting/fielding and bowling maybe)...only the maturity is needed! And what better way to mature by playing instead of being neglected.

Fazal
February 1, 2013, 08:47 PM
So Shabbir has the "Ashraful" factor and Milon has the "Mashrafee" factor?

Is it a good thing or curse for Shabbir?

have heard this before about milon a number of years ago, he's a good hitter but he's quite like mash with his batting...i really haven't seen much of him at all but from the little i have seen of him and what others have said, and from what i've seen of shabbir and zia, if i was to pick one to be a #7 i'd be going with shabbir. shabbir has the potential to play longer innings against better quality bowlers, could bat up the order if needed and on the bowling front he was decent in u19s as a leggy which is a variation the national team is missing atm. although what i just described can also mean alok kapali.

He may be somewhat effective in T20s, but let's be honest - no one strives to be Luke Wright.

What's wrong with femininity? Sexist much bro? Luke right has good build. And plenty of 'feminine' looking players are real good in T20s - de Kock, David Miller, Steve Smith etc. pops to mind.

He's played some real good innings in BBL etc. - improved leaps and bounds since his bits and pieces days. And IIRC he has hit a monstrous six in BPL too.

Agree with you that he is effective in the game..but I think comparing/relating anything of Luke with Shabbir is a bit of jumbled opinion. Technique, Style, Quality wise if shabbir is to be compared...then I would compare with him someone like Du Plesis or even Samuel in their early carriers. Ofcourse, the experience changes/perfects a player.

bro I don't think it can be a sexist remark! I like women! but I don't like men in women clothing or vice versa! Same time, I am not blaming or saying there is something wrong with Luke being how he is (if it is something involuntary). To me, femininity of a man should be "caring/loving" etc! It should NOT be in postures/mobility!

and they are real good in t/20? who did you compare with? De villers/gayle/ Clarke/Samuel/Bravo/Petersen/Kohli/Akmals/Shakib/Mushfiq/Nasir/Dilshan/Dhoni/Jamshed/Ross taylor/McCullam/Hussy's/Whites/Azhar/watson/kallis ? any of them? or the English ladies team?

The point is,
- Luke is a lot of Flukes than class but effective. (Maybe coz' he gets lucky). But watching him play is pain, as it is not attractive or interesting in any way. Always looks nervous.
- Milon is effective, nothing of class, good against SLA'S Medium Pacers, hence vulnerable against quality opposition. Watching him play more interesting than Luke atleast. Looks less nervous than Luke.
- Shabbir, A lot of class, good against pacers and spinners, effective more than milon, hence more chance of being successful against quality opposition. Watching him play is like watching Nasir building a partnership or Shabbir himself knocking out Afghanistan. I.e, Authority and Class! He has no nerves! (I might sound bias but we all saw him play)

Like I said before, just because your well built and have power, doesn't mean you'll be a good T20 batsman. Players like Zia and Milon are make shift batsmen who only seem to know 1 way of batting and that's slogging. They're not national team material and should not be a part of our plans.
