Where's the crowd? hehehe this was suppose to be a Blockbuster Cricket match/series. I thought fans of other teams say nobody turns up for Zimbabwe or Bangladesh matches when they play away hypocrites!!! But got to give credit to Pakistan on the way they have performed today but its their batting which everyone is questioning against this bowling attack.

Pakistan made the mistake on not playing the big guy on these surfaces. Who knows what he would've done to these South African batsman in such seaming tracks.

Pak- 40/7 - Lunch
Cricinfo summary of morning session:
12.30pm: South Africa are getting used to this aren't they? Pakistan's batsmen knew they had a challenge on their hands this morning but they have failed miserably against some high-quality bowling from South Africa. Dale Steyn was his usual remorseless self at the start of the day, snaking the ball away late to torment the top order. The other three were also near the top of their game, and one of the best deliveries of the session was the one Kallis got to rear up at Azhar Ali to break the only stand of note in the session. Can Pakistan avoid the follow-on? Still 14 runs away.

why didn't SA enforce the follow-on?

This test is almost sealed for win and very less likely to roll into 4th day. I think Smith wanted to practice more against Pakistani bowling for better preparation & build more batting confidence. SA made 250 at 1st innings, which was also not a good score for a top test batting side.

MohammedC
February 2, 2013, 07:38 PM

To save Pakistan from an innings defeat. Because no one would turn up at second test if they enforced and bowled them again before the day ended.

hahaha shame Pakistan. Played even worse than minnows. If these kind of results happen frequently now amongst the bigger teams then I see no reason why they can avoid us. BUT in this case, I'm just glad Bangladesh are not playing teams like South Africa yet because most likely we will get owned and get all sorts of criticism. so phewww....

Also just realised this Pakistan team is very very old and will eventually have to replace a lot of their players with inexperience young ones so looks downhill for them good luck! :)

But I wonder how many of our batsman can seriously bat on these kind of tracks? sadly only a few. Our domestic structure is pretty poor and need to play on different pitches instead of slow, low, flat tracks.

Pakistan crossing 300 with their batting line-up should be morale victory for them:lol:

yes so true. They are excelent bowling department, but due to their batting, they will alway have hard time winning high scoring games. they are old, boring and cannot score quickly. They need to seriously think about introducing new batting talent with the goal of building more dynamic batting order.

SA's test strength is miles ahead of its ODI, I wonder why.

I think they keep on experimenting with the ODI squad and that's why they don't have a settled side.

I'm loving watching Steyn terrorise Younis Khan.

This series was total showcase of AB de Villiers special. Its just too much of AB for Pakistan in every match (avg 91.75).

I enjoyed today's match. Some good fast bowlers on show. Steyn, Morkel, Tsotsobe, McClaren, Irfan, Khan and Riaz. All off them clocked in at over 140 at some point. Steyn, Irfan and Riaz were particularly fast, regularly clocking in at 140 and all 3 touched 147kph.
