Al amin on fire. Surely it will be him with Robiul.

Gowza
September 12, 2013, 03:15 AM
rubel will probably continued to be selected because of his 6fer, mean while al amin will probably get his first chance at international cricket because of the so far 5fer he's got in this match. to be fair rubel has been ok in ODIs, not great or anything still ok. not that i'm condoning having him selected still.

Lets not judge youngsters like shabbir, mominul etc based on the first round performance in Dpl, I am hoping to see good performance in upcoming match's.

we will see how they go of the course of the tournament, but if they are on the fringe or in the squad then they need to be capable of certain things, today neither mominul or shabbir were able to get there team over or near the line, if they get the opportunity again, hopefully they will do it next time. we are about to see if naeem can do it.

Gowza
September 12, 2013, 05:19 AM
naeem has let the run rate go from about 6 up to nearly 9.

MohammedShamim
September 12, 2013, 05:19 AM
Our players lacks mental strength to judge situations and to understand what needs to be done at a certain stage of the match - Naeem Islam prime example today.

Gowza
September 12, 2013, 05:21 AM
naeem needs to hit some boundaries, it's great that he can stay at the crease but ultimately pointless unless he can win the match.

i know they've lost some wickets but naeem has put them into a tough position when they were in a great position, only had to get 6 an over at some point after the 40 over mark and with 4 overs to go they've now got to get 9 an over.

Gowza
September 12, 2013, 05:25 AM
and he hit a 4 on the last ball of the over so the guy who can't bat and is on 1 has to try and rotate the strike when the specialist bat at the other end could have controlled the situation better and put himself on strike.

September 12, 2013, 05:26 AM
SL players earn more from playing in DPL, no wonder they came in big numbers. Heck, they even earn more in DPL than in BPL which gives no gurantee that the players will receive payment

Gowza
September 12, 2013, 05:27 AM
see now the run rate is over 11, shouldn't have let it get to this.

Gowza
September 12, 2013, 05:29 AM
naeem will have to go berserk now or someone will, otherwise they'll lose.

Gowza
September 12, 2013, 05:32 AM
naeem totally screwed his team, but with him gone probably a better chance of getting more runs.

Lankan player der chorachori dekhi. In 3 matches today, 13 SL players played. They will dominate the bowling and batting charts at the end of the season.

But T Dilshan, J Mubarak, Upul Tharanga are good class players. So I hope our players learn something from them.

Shamsur came to the crease when team is at 2-27 (4.5 ov) and then more wks fell around him at 4-83 (21.2 ov). So he had to play to stay and try to stop the rot. When he fell it was 5-159 (36.6 ov). So he played a good innings (imho) to setup for the following batsmen.

Lets not judge somebody before you actually look into stats to understand the match situation.

Agree with you that just looking at the stat sheet is not enough and we need to understand the situation Shamsur came in. Disagree with you that this was a good innings. To me, he got the job only half done. Well done to him for consolidating but for a specialist batsman, you need to have a complete innings. Once you get you eye in, you need to make it count. Throwing your wicket away in 30's and 40's is not doing the full job. On top of that he finished with a SR of only a 50 in the end which is also not good. Had he finished his innings with a good SR and score then yes it's a good innings but I wouldn't rate this innings

Afghanistan will be a major force in cricket within the next 10-15 years. No ifs and buts.. I am really impressed with few Afgan players that I have seen so far. They play with passion and are absolutely fearless. They can EASILY replace our players like Imrul Shahadat Naffees any time.

They are naturally built and are physically active. They have this added advantage. Happy for them

And yet we have Shahadat in the side for the very next tour. That's the real problem with us. I don't care how depleted we are in the pace department. When a national team pacer acts like that, he shouldn't have been considered for a while. Yet he walks in to the national team. The way SN also talked in the interview, he too shouldn't be selected for a while but yet selectors are strongly considering him. Shouldn't these actions be a red flag that these guys should be nowhere near the national team? If we don't hold players accountable for their talks and actions than how will they learn?

bhai... Just because he had to play sensibly doesnot mean he have to bogged down like Javed Omar.. And its not 2003 when score around 230 would be enough to beat a team.. Plus, there is nobody in our team like noby to play such an innings to take our team total to a respectable place..If he cant maintain a respectable SR against a club team, what can you except from him when he will face an international team?

Absence of Pakistani players have been a blessing in disguise. Good to see quality Lankan players like Dilshan, Mendis, Mathews, Tharanga, etc etc playing in our league and there is no doubt that SL players are of higher quality that Pakistan who have struggled against Zimbabwe . Also, Mahmood, Nabi and Styris are playing in so plenty of foreign players.

forgot about NAeem, he seem to be back to his chokka Naeem mindset with better temperament & techniques & consistency.
Put these altogether and we have our Shekhor Dhawan.
LAst year he looked like a fine Test batsman prospect, but since his 100 in England and his performance so far in DPL he might be a good candidate for our ODI top order, he can challenge players like OweMe & Vijay.

Best to play Naeem at No.3 in ODI. I think he only knows how to bat through-out the inning and not play according to the situation, hence its unlikely that we will see him win match's. However, I would take Naeem as he is consistently scoring runs as a No.3 and playing until the 40th over.

I wouldn't mind if we have Naeem at #3 for all forms. It's not like we're batting at WACA or Gabba. Bangladeshi wickets are typically dead, slow and low tracks. So it shouldn't be too hard for Naeem to bat at #3. He's been the best batsman outside the national team and it's a position we've had problems with, so why not give it a chance? Would much rather have him there rather than the likes of SN, Jahurul and Imrul.

^agreed. Dont get why he's batting so low in domestics anyways

especially since the only vacant spots in the national team are really 2nd opener and #3, he's a very experienced and consistent domestic performer in both FC and list A's which is rare in BD (check out records of asif, anamul, nazimuddin, shuvagata, jahurul etc - they might have good FC records but their list A records are horrendous). he should be pushing for national selection and the best way for him to do that is to show he can bat in the available national team spots.

Same but I still would like to see him batting at #3 in DPL to get accustomed to the position.

Yeah the selectors should talk to naeem but even if they don't he should realise it's his best chance. Agree about riyad batting up the order, I reckon long term he's going to need to be able to bat top 6 for the national team so he needs to work on batting higher up the order in domestics, his best chance is batting at 3 so that's where he should play in domestics.

MohammedShamim

Cricket isn't the only sport these clubs play and playing sports isn't the only thing these clubs do. For the teams owned by banks, I would think the owners (banks) would directly inject money into the teams. Other clubs have affiliations with cash-heavy gentlemen. I'd also think there's a lot of activity under the table.

At the end of the day, it's all about the prestige, I don't think there's a whole lot of monetary gain for the owners from winning the DPL.

Thats what I always used to think. I am 100% sure that the clubs themselves are not directly involved in those "other matters" but probably some indirectly.

What DPL needs is TV coverage and proper arrangement. I really like the scheduling of the DPL which is excellent as opposed to BPL, however, the matches need to be held in better stadiums and BCB need to inject interest amongst the locals.

A BDeshi owned sports channel would do wonders but until and unless we become a strong team, that just will not happen.

Anamul gone for 1 off 13 deliveries. He should be able to make the team but his form as of late has been really worrying.

Soumya now gone for 10. Victoria now 11/4. Matthews causing problems. Looks like its the early movement available for the pacers especially since SBNS is the most helpful for the pacers.

The difference being anamul makes more big scores more often than ash, plus anamul is only 20 and has plenty of time to improve, ash missed the boat on that.

That's one of anamul's strengths, he comes back strong, even if in bad form he can go out and play himself to a ton.

Sri Lankans, Brendan Taylor, Styris, Azhar Mahmood are dominating. Looks like this DPL had more foreign and in some cases better players than BPL. Coacher hishebe Ian Pont ke ekta team deya jaito.

Just been watching CLT T20! The NZ pacers: Wagner, Butler, Neesham look to be in great form!

Ps: This pacers are consistently bowling 85+ with good seam and move, oh dear!

Not at all. BPL had a lot of players like RTD, Shah, Bopara, Hodge and so on. SL players have come in number though Jaya and Malinga wont be playing.

But this time around, there are better players than previous DPLs thanks to PCB banning their own players  The clubs have now realized that you can get good players with a modest prize from countries other than Zimbabwe who got beaten in a test match against Zimbabwe B team which had no jarvis, cremer, williams, etc etc

I dont think wickets in BD is anything near to the mohali wicket which is the only pitch in India that supports pace

Direct recruiting is much better, cheaper, simpler and less controversial. Where as going through auction can be complicated more expensive for franchise who has no idea about how to run a cricket team. I am not saying DPL club organisers are the best but they sure are 100 times better than BPLers. Some of the players were priced too high during BPL. And I am certain the same players are getting paid much less.

Quite true. Some player were overpriced like Nazir/Sami and all other Pakistanis. I mean why would you pay 300 000 USD for someone like Imran Nazir? Whereas the likes ryan tendoeschate is being paid 100000USD.

However, the players dont really mind it because there is a greater chance that they are overpriced than underpriced. The fault ofcourse is with BPL franchises. CTG, Dhaka, Rajshahi, Barisal, Sylhet brought players with good price especially CTG and Dhaka whereas Rangpur rider bought player with only half of the cap hence there is no way to create a level playing field. BPL committee tried to make too many changes hence fell into a deep hole. Fortunately for Bangladesh cricket, this time around there has been 10% of the whining that we saw regarding player payment issues though the Owais shah matter got out of hand whilst no one really got to know what really happened. I think BPL 3 will be hit if there is enough cricket over the country and not just Dhaka.

Wasn't Nazmus Sadat a big time prospect at one point? Can't believe he's still only 26. Good to see he came through yesterday. His averages aren't bad for our standards. Just seems like he's got a conversion problem. Hope he can sustain the consistency

I thought, NZ players would have been interested to play the league since it would have given them a great opportunity to get used to the players and conditions. But guess not.

Good performance by Riyad. Need to be consistent in both areas throughout the DPL.

yeah he's been around for ages, still so young. FC average is obviously so so but his list A average in the 35s is good by our standards. only 1 ton in 44 innings but 11 half tons so i guess he has a bit of a problem converting. good strike rate of over 80, i see that he batted down at #6 in the last match, i thought he was a top order batsman? perhaps someone to look at if we are to push anamul down to #3 (shorter formats).
