View Full Version : Selection criteria of BD bowlers

Very dissapointed with the bowling effort today. But not surprised at all. Shahadat, Abul,Sunny-all struggled in our domestic league this year. How could we expect them to better in international cricket?Time for giving chances to successful domestic bowlers like Robiul,Sajedul,Al Amin,Alauddin Babu,Nazmul,Tas kin,Mosharraf Rubel,Saqlain Sajib etc.

Look at Nazmul's FC and test stats and compare it to all the 4 pacers chosen this tour (both test and FC). This is what happens when you have completely incompetent and clueless selectors who even selects a player with much inferior stats based on what hand he bats, hilarious

Even a retard would have selected Nazmul over SRK and Abul. The fact that our selectors didn't should tell you how well they think the game.

Abul is useless. He's still in the lineup with the power of that 100 he scored.

nice and timely thread, i lost interest in this match. its already out of our hand just because of bad team selection. two pacer make them settle and now they will make piles of runs

I'm tired of these so called selectors. Why do we even need selectors to begin with? Why don't we just give the coach the authority to decide who he wants in the team.

I hear Akram said Nazmul is not included because this is Test not ODI. What a clown.Someone should ask khan shaheb how many times did they bother to select Nazmul for ODI?

March 8, 2013, 01:47 PM
Before start of 1st Test, I made a comment that selector to prove me wrong if Abul and shahadat can do any better than other Bangladesh bowler, any other bowler can't do any worse.

I am still winning, I hope they can prove me wrong end of the 1st test match.

March 8, 2013, 02:35 PM
Creative differences...nazmul is a vegetarian whilst akram chachu is anything but a niramishbhaji type

March 8, 2013, 04:25 PM
This is the worst bowling attack I've seen BD field in years, and I consider our bowling the stronger point.

There should be large protests side by side Shabagh demanding for the resignation of our 'selectors'.

March 8, 2013, 10:29 PM
Hard to understand our selectors-how they think, what they think. Nazmul Hossain would at least keep it tight at one end. He has the accuracy and control, and remember what he did against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup. Test cricket is all about building pressure. Abul or Shahadat will bowl 2-3 dot balls then bowl a wild delivery and get hit for a boundary. Thats not how the game is played.

There is a big difference between Sunny of 2012 and 2013. He has become worse. He even struggled in BPL. Fair enough selectors wanted to call up Sunny because he has been a part of the team. But whats the point if he cant help the cause of the team? I would have preferred the in form Mosharraf or even Razzak over the listless Sunny.

March 9, 2013, 02:03 AM
I also think Razzak, Mosharraf Rubel or Saqlain Sajib would have been much better option than Shahadat or Sunny....we have a set of selectors who has no cluse about opposition, pitch, what worked and what did not work in the past, and simply incapable of understanding our strength or opposition weakness...ideally we should have been playing with one pacer, namely Nazmul or Raju, and 3 spinners namely Mosharraf, Saqlain and Gazi...

March 9, 2013, 02:31 AM
Hope this is Shahadats last series with Bangladesh.

March 9, 2013, 02:34 AM
The team is vastly inexperienced, we have to rely on Gazi, the new guy to spearhead our attack:facepalm:

A little bit more experience would not have hurt so much, for example Razzak in for Sunny.

March 9, 2013, 02:47 AM
I called for someone like Rubel to replace Sunny. That's fine, but Abul and Shahadat? Abul has done jack in FC and Shahadat's is same old story.

Nazmul bowls much better vs Pakistan, and he gets dropped? Wow.

March 9, 2013, 02:49 AM
Our players become crap with experience thats why we have an inexperienced team even after a decade of Test cricket

March 9, 2013, 02:54 AM
We need a new thread. Selection criteria of BD selectors.

March 9, 2013, 10:31 AM
Unless hes related to Akram Khan or related to other selectors, I cant see why Shahadat keeps getting picked. He doesnt even perform in domestic cricket. We have the players, they dont get picked. Nazmul should be picked in every game if hes fit. Shaifiul is also better than Sahadat. Also no more Rubel please

March 9, 2013, 11:09 AM
Athik buddy how many bowlers in Bangladesh do you know who can send stumps flying. Rubel is one of those few who can. When on song, when fully fit Rubel is one of our best bowlers. We just havent managed him well enough. Issue with him is his frame, physique is not strong enough to allow him to bowl his natural way which is hit the deck hard, and bowl at lively pace of 140-145 kph. Malinga too was skinny when he started off, around 65 kg. He actually had to bulk up and gain weight for him to be able to maintain his pace. Despite all his injuries, still he can bowl in his mid 140's.

My life does not revolve around BC forum mate. I work full time and have other commitments like professional exams, gym, etc.

When I get time and feel like, I pop by once in a blue moon.

they need to be more in depth with their talent/performance analysis of a player. shahadat for example has had a ton of chances in international cricket, continues to disappoint and bowl poorly at that level, but he performs pretty well in domestics. this is where selectors need to be watching matches and figuring out who's got what it takes to succeed in internationals, obviously shahadat isn't there, not yet, may have the tools but he's been given enough chances for those to develop and hasn't.

guys like sajidul and dolar have been consistent domestic performers who look to have talent and skills, got the minimal amount of international chances and then were dumped. also guys like kazi kamrul and other domestic pacers who continually perform year in year out yet are overlooked. the selectors need to select on the basis of both performance and talent rather just one or the other.

Same can be said for everyone else in this forum.

On the bright side the Sri Lankan bowlers havent fared any better than ours.

On the bright side the Sri Lankan bowlers havent fared any better than ours.

Exactly ... this pitch is not the pitch to evaluate our FBs. While SriLnakan FBs didn't had much success, we were involved in trashing our FBs from get go.

With some help from the fielders, Sahadat would have gotten 1 wicket and Abul 2 wicket. It's not great, but its not that bad comparing with what SR FBs achieved so far.

Are you very dissappointed with SL bowling effort today?

March 10, 2013, 11:24 PM
Herath was decent, but Ashraful and Mushfiq played him brilliantly. With a lot of respect, concentration, only attacking the very loose deliveries. Mendis was ineffective, Kulasekera had no penetration, Eranga despite his pace showed lack of experience. Their lack of pre match preparation and planning shows.
