Won't be easy at all for Argentina and I hope the Bosnians pull off a 1-0 upset. That said, they'll have to play out of their skins and be in the good graces of Lady Luck to contain Messi, Di Maria and Higuain. 1-0 Bosnia. I'll always root against Argentina.

Argentina won't peak too soon in this tournament, that's for sure. Other than the genius of Messi, the best player in the world, not a very impressive display at all. When you have to depend on an own goal to make the difference, you shouldn't have a lot to write home about.

Kudos to Bosnia. They had a plan for this game and executed well enough to nearly pulling it off statistically. They outshot the Stripes & Dives 11 to 5 and led in corner kicks 6 to 2. Both Nigeria and Iran should be encouraged by this, keeping in mind that Bosnia are an excellent side and what they can do, both Iran and Nigeria will have a harder time doing.

Arguably this is the best Iranian team ever and if they can keep it together mentally, they're capable of surprising a lot of folks in this tournament. I want them to win this match but have Nigeria winning it 2-1. They have yet to match the excellence of their 1994 side with Yekini-Okocha-Finidi-Amunike and Amokachi but are still a strong side.

Poor show from argentina.. Sloppy all round. Need to get they're act together or else another 4-0 knockout coming. Couldn't understand the 5 man back line, already having such poor midfield why make it worse? Higuain, messi and augero must play. Maxi is useless, Gago is better option.

Expect strong comeback!

I'm a man of color and proud of it. Never wanted to be anything else. A matter of self respect. Naturally I want to see THE MOST RACIST NATION IN SOUTH AMERICA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism_in_Argentina) (also known for fixing matches and other forms of cheating, AND using performance enhancing drugs) lose but that won't happen tonight. Not impressed by this Iranian team at all. They played like lions during the qualifiers bit so far we've seen none of that. The Argentines are simply too skilled to allow Iran to find that kind of form. I see the diving philanderers crush Iran 4-0 but I'll be rooting for them anyway. Iran has a terrible goalie.

Really, really disgusting group of @$$holes! This is why Argentina is hated so much by its neighbors, not including Uruguay.

Two Argentine fans were arrested for chanting racist insults at Brazilians inside the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro yesterday, local police said.

READ MORE (http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/162253/argentina-fans-arrested-for-alleged-racist-chanting)

And no, this kind of Argentine racism is not isolated. It is typical. Do the research and you'll see that no amount of "Fair & Lovely/Handsome" or wannabe-ism would prevent you from treated like dirt in that country if you're a person of color. I know. I've had to go there twice on business. Most Argentines, contrary to some conjectures, are not "brown" like other Latinos.

The permutations

Group F

Argentina are already through, and a draw in their match with Nigeria will see them win the group and the Super Eagles qualify in second place. If the African side win, they will top the group.

Iran must beat Bosnia-Hercegovina, and rely on an Argentina victory that is big enough for Iran's goal difference or goals scored tally to better Nigeria's.

Bosnia cannot qualify for the next round.

I have a feeling France is going down.

This French team is incredibly strong and balanced, and a genuine threat. Technically strong as always at the individual level, they're also tactically on the same page for the first time since 1998. Deschamps has done a great job with these guys.

Besides Benzema, there's also a lot of quality in Pogba, Schneiderlin and Griezmann, technically adept guys who fight for all 90+ minutes. Sagna is in great form in front of Lloris. The way these guys handled a desperate Ecuador with their aggressive zone defense, a physical side very hard to play against, tells me that they're capable of executing well for all 90+ minutes. Throughout the game, they allowed Ecuador players a couple of yards of space when they received the ball, but closed-in rather than back off as soon as they tried to move forward. This forced Ecuador to pass the ball back over and over again to keep possession, and eliminate putting together moves that can create high percentage chances.

Ah the 1990 Wold Cup! Well, that cheating drug fiend Maradona actually admitted to both using performance enhancing drugs and drugging Brazilian players during the match. He admitted to drugging Branco by "sportingly" offering him a drink laced with sedatives during the game. Giusti has too. I'm sure Branco, possibly the heaviest shot in Brazil's history, wasn't the only one. That contributed to Brazil's loss. So a fixed match in 1978 got Brazil out of the final and a drug-fueled handball the 1986 Cup. At least karmic justice has been served since 1990. I'm still amazed by Bangladeshi :sick:zentina fans who worship a despicable person like Maradona and a team like :sick:zentina representing the most racist nation in the continent. I suppose one can choose to remain ignorant whilst taking leave of his moral faculties.[/rant]

Note to self : calm down and just ignore the miserable judgmental idiot who spends far too much time in the forum finding new ways to degrade other members over a difference of opinion/views. It's simply not worth your time.

Great game last night. It was sweet to see Messi score twice and Argentina finally finding some rhythm to their attacking play. Aguero and Hiquain were both yet again disappointing but I really liked the inclusion of Lavezzi who seems to have much more to offer on the flanks. Mascharano was frustrating to watch as he kept on either passing back to the defenders or horizontally without any innovative passes to the 3 forwards to open up the game. It was up to poor Di Maria to basically to go back and bring the ball forward and he was the Robiul Islam of Arg last night. Sabella's decision to remove Messi was strange because Nigeria could have still won the game at that point which would have made Argentina's path to QF much more harder. The sub Alvarez showed a bit of promise. The defenders were poor which is the biggest worry. The first goal was Zabaleta's fault and it seems all of them have difficulties clearing the ball during corner kicks or set pieces. If the defenders do not improve it will be 8-0 vs Germany.

It's only a personal attack if you fit the description. It could be any BC member or in fact in your own views any ignorant Argentina supporting BCer. Life as Mod can be hard as we need to deal with over sized egos, pseudo intellectuals and repeat offenders with zero learning curve on a daily basis. It can get frustrating when people simply do not know how to get along even during a sports competition. These mental notes are sort of a medication for me to calm the nerves as a member and continue the day in BC in a good mood.

Anyhow i am sure my mental notes will be taken down if it is deemed offensive by others so don't stress over it.

My posts simply pointed out some well documented facts about the country and it's soccer. A nation and a region I've visited on business several times and know well. Then I wondered how in light of those facts anyone can worship a particular player (Maradona) and the culture of cheating he exemplifies whilst supporting a racist nation being a person of color. Use of the terms "ignorance" and "taking leave of one's moral faculties" naturally came into play. Nobody in particular was attacked, unlike in your post which resorted to outright name-calling. You know and I know who was targeted here, Jadukor. Those are the facts.

Correction, it seems these terms come naturally to you more than anyone... not to forget other terms such as Rajakar ancestry, "self loathing from coconut community" etc etc that also comes naturally to you. These terms and classifying BCers under them also comes to you naturally on sports threads where people are in general discussing either cricket or football.

@Jadukor: each mind works differently and opinions vary. Yes I am harsh on what I see as harmful sociological phenomena from my particular perspective, but I haven't attacked any BCer personally even when I felt some may have either intentionally or inadvertently partaken in some of those things. I am harsh on certain ideas I find repugnant, not on folks logging on to a forum, unlike you attacking me by calling me "miserable" and an "idiot" now with "ego" and "learning curve" issues. You don't even know me in person. Some here do and won't find your unkind assessment accurate. I don't think you will either if you and I had met in person. Do you honestly not see the difference between attacking an idea and attacking a person? I have been penalized for my past infractions. I have paid my dues, so to speak. Why did you feel the need to bring them up again?

For the record, as much as I *LOVE* to see Argentina lose, some of my favorite players have been Argentine. So it's hardly blanket hatred. Messi is my favorite player, and I'm also a fan of Di Maria and Higuain in spite of being a Barcelona fan. Also have a soft spot in my heart for great Argentine players like Ayala, Batistuta, Redondo, Riquelme, Ortega, Tevez and the great Goycoechea. :)

You have personally attacked me. I think you forgot. It was in a match thread where i disagreed with you on the concept of playing according to the merit of the ball. I think you said i suffered from cognitive dissonance but it could be another equally offensive term. I think it is out there in the match archives if somebody bothered to find it as i never reported it.

It is indeed true i do not know you as a person and I did not mean what i said. At the same time I do not like to be labelled as ignorant for supporting a sports team.. or the ancestor of rajakar for supporting a political party. I don't want to read your veiled vicious and hurtful attacks. I am generally very calm and easy going and I have never tried to be hurtful to anyone here in BC until today. If I was unkind or hurtful it was as a reaction to your endless provocative posts. At the end my post was out of anger rather than based on an objective assessment. Who knows you could be a wonderful person but you make it incredibly hard for me to see it.

@Jadukor: I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. None of my rants, as vicious as they may be on certain ideas I obviously find attack-worthy, are intended to hurt anyone's feelings. I've had many stupid ideas and been called out on those ideas throughout my 47 years, and I'm sure I haven't seen the last of it. I try not to take those things personally. This is an online forum for GOD's sake, not a battlefield where one needs to do terrible things.

I am sorry if I hurt your feelings as well. It was a response out of anger and I did not mean it.
