If Bangladesh wins the test series 3-0 it should be called Bangla-light-wash with no extra rinse. I hope the BD batters are not going to be complicit and that they give some respect to the good balls bowled by Zim pacers, perhaps leaving ones on the off stump line and flashing none of the wide ones. This test can be an occasion for improving batting average for our batters. The likes of Sanga and Tendu never miss the opportunity to bolster their records; records are records and they go into the books.
I have faith in Mominul and hope he can score in he Ctg pitch which is not known to be bouncy. This is also time for Tamim-Mushy-Shakib-M-Ullah to beef up their average.....

Eshen
November 11, 2014, 05:18 PM
"He [Imrul Kayes] is not certain to open," Mushfiqur said. "We also have Bijoy [Anamul Haque] and Marshall [Ayub].....

http://www.espncricinfo.com/bangladesh-v-zimbabwe-2014-15/content/story/798315.html

I do like the idea of letting Marshall open, technically he is a much better batsman than both Imrul and Anam. Plus the other two have been tried and failed in Test cricket, don't see the point of keep experimenting with them (unless Bijoy improved his footwork already).

Eshen
November 11, 2014, 05:23 PM
While it is likely that Bangladesh will go in with two seamers - Shafiul Islam and Rubel Hossain - Mushfiqur didn't rule out playing with only one seamer as the pitch in Chittagong is slower and offers less bounce than other grounds. He also urged the pacers to provide the early breakthrough.

"There isn't much bounce in the Chittagong wicket. We know it aids the spinners but we haven't decided on the selection yet. If we do employ the single pacer, we will pick an extra batsman.

"In Chittagong, the pace bowlers are not likely to pick up five or seven wickets. They don't get that many overs to bowl, too. But their initial breakthrough is important, so we have also kept that in mind. I don't think there will be too many changes from the last match."

It's not about English or accents. It's about content and what they bring to the table. Anything and everything that comes out of those guys I named are just blunt, obvious blabbering and zero-depth, point at the screen and say it out loud nonsense. We can read more knowledge posts in MT's, if you put the trolls and spammers on ignore list.

I agree that Dav as the commentator helped the quality so much. Hes what you want as an announcer. Gives very good analysis of the game and talks about the subtleties as well as the game. You can see how much understanding he has for the game

Got to agree with these, Whatmore offers insight and knowledge whilst the others just say what happens without going into any depth, which really infuriates me. Manthorpe is pretty decent in his commentary. Whatmore has been a revelation particularly when he talks about technique and such.

Panyangara to Imrul Kayes, no run, that should please the bowler. He struck a good length and brought the batsman forward, then a little seam movement beats the edge

Panyangara to Tamim Iqbal, no run, he has to open the face of the bat after Panyangara gets a short of a good length delivery to straighten. Tapped into the covers in hopes of a single, but Tamim is sent back. On cue, someone says "Let's get a little run-out here, boys." A new opening pair and already the pressure is on

Can anybody explain from 1st over in test why they are feeling pressured?

Panyangara to Tamim Iqbal, no run, pokes and misses! That was the product of an angled face and uncertain footwork. Panyangara has carried this attack wonderfully. He's adjusted to this pitch and is even able to get some seam movement away, as he did on that occasion to beat the outside edge

Brain malfunction from Imrul?

Holden
November 11, 2014, 11:34 PM
those last two overs show the limitations of Kaedge; had 2 or 3 easy run scoring balls but couldn't time and place the ball, then when he had a full toss that should have been easily dispatched to the boundary he got greedy and wanted to make up for the previos shortfalls and tried to hit a six but didn't hit it with any conviction and should have been caught but saved by inept fielding

11.30 am It's been a terrific toss to win for Bangladesh and they were helped early with some awful new-ball bowling from Zimbabwe. Imrul Kayes was making a comeback, and he was not put under any pressure with the line of attack being considerably wide of off stump. He has since looked rather jittery, but his partner Tamim Iqbal has been playing well within himself.

Asaad: "Last match at this ground Sanga scored a triple and Mominul led BD to a solid draw.
