That's a solid couple of practice matches by the looks of it. Michael Clarke playing as well. Would definitely have made my way down to Brisbane if it wasn't for work.

wait - so now we will play SIX warm ups? - that's brilliant news if that is the case.

1st Feb - v President XI
3rd Feb - v President XI?
3rd Feb - v Australian Xi
5th Feb - v Australian XI (to get Michael Clark up and running - lol)
9th Feb - v Pakistan
11th Feb - v Ireland

First two must be vua news as you can't have two 50 over matches on the same day.

Regardless that is what the money is there for. We should have played a series of 3-5 ODIs against IRE or AFG or even ZIM in AUS/NZ after our last series. Sure India and SL are going to be exhausted but a short series wouldn't have been bad for us.

BD broadcasters can setup some camera at the field like they did in Netherland.....at least 4 camera and make it online stream for everyone...I'm sure their will be a some kind of arrangement by bd. Playing against Pakistan in world cup would be beneficial for broadcaster...so hopefully it happens.

It's a regular norm for Bangladesh to collapse and this is the reason why we are not winning against top 8 side in a consistent basis.

It looks like we have not been able to change our nature. Lets not raise our hope too much. I wont be surprised at all if we loose against either Afghanistan or Scotland or both. Both Afghanistan & Scotland have decent bowling attack to cause a collapse in our batting lineup.

I wouldnt say Soumya > Anamul at this moment cos Anamul has a knack of performing wen it matters. But i would say Shabbir > Nasir pretty much on the back of Shabbir's recent performances for BD and the fact that i saw his batting during DPL and he looked in fantastic touch.

Either people on BC are highly optimistic or highly pessimistic. No middle ground. I checked the scorecards during the times we played in Australia and the massive downfall was our batting. Our bowling is suprisingly good on Aussie pitches its just our batting was terrible. If we work to put on at least 250+ scores in Australia then we will be competitive. And btw this is just a practice match lets not freak out unnecessarily. I'm happy Mominul put up a good score at least we know he could do well at #3 position for BD and also Riyad played pretty decent. Everyone else like shakib, mushy we know they will perform wen it matters so im not too fussed. Anamul is a big game player so get all these players performing at once and we should be fine for the world cup.

What do we base our expectations on?
Is it recent performances? performances in recent tournaments? form of our star players? conditions?

or simply gut feeling?

Lets just take out the series against the clueless Zimbabwe team. We had a close fight against Sri Lanka and lost due to captaincy.. we had a close one against India C team and got screwed by Stuart Binny.. we had a close one against Pakistan and got our back side handed to us by Afridi.
Can't remember anything of note against West Indies.
I don't really see where all the hype comes from? We aren't playing on the flat pitches at home and we lost against a state side comfortably. The next few practice matches will make it more clear if this will be another 2007 or 2003 but really some of you guys need to be realistic so that you don't get hurt too much.

First outing in the middle and not too bad !
Glad that they all had a look and feel of the conditions and this would certainly help them to build momentum for the world cup itself.

They all batted, 4 batsmen were amongst runs with one scoring a fifty before giving others the chance to bat. As much as 8 bowlers were used and all the front line bowlers also got the chance to test the pace and carry of the pitch. More importantly, all three SLA's bowled 7 overs each, allowing them to understand the conditions to adjust their length and line accordingly. Shakib is Shakib, Sunny showed the importance of experience while Taijul will have to learn to adjust quickly.

Overall, a very good outing for the boys I say and lets do it all over again in the next practice match.
No need to have your best bowler bowling 10 overs, no need for the batsman to score a ton. This is not about winning or losing. Give everyone the chance to practice and adjust.

These 2 matches will determine more about who will play and who won't, what the combo will be. We can pay a bit more attention to the results against Pakistan and Ireland.

So I'd say Mominul really helped his case for the #3 spot. Soumya outplayed Anamul but has to outplay him and again also convert a 50 if he really wants to open alongsides Tamim. Even then it might be enough as Anamul's proven himself so far in ODI's whereas Soumya is a new kid on the block. Shabbir's also ahead of Nasir.

As for the bowling, Al-Amin is most likely going to be the backup. Arafat seems to be ahead of Taijul

I don't know any players with bad techniques that have been successful on Australian wickets consistently. It is fair to say Mahmudullah, Mushy, Mominul, Shabbir and to some extent Tamim have good techniques, so they may do well. however, I have a feeling this series Mahmudullah/Mominul might become our top run scorer! Nasir, I hope he does well, but on the note of his technique, i really fear for him.

I guess it is good to stay positive even after the practice game. One loss does not mean we are done for the world cup. Similarly, one win does not mean we are going to win the world cup. Bottom line is we should stay realistic and take one game at a time.

yep this approach is indeed beneficial for the mind. I and going use this for our future defeats. If Pakistan thrashes us.. i will focus on the incremental gains such as players got vitamin d from the sun, bowlers bowled 10 overs, Mash bowled with two legs, Anamul stopped smiling, rubel was happy, all batsman had a bat, Ryad got a not out, Nasir took a selfie.. etc etc.

:lol::lol: well said

I have always thought playing Nasir and Mahmadullah in the same game is a waste of space. Personally, I think Mahmadullah should be taken over him.

Anamul is still not upto international standards because of his poor foot movement, and that too on slow surfaces. It will be even more challenging on fast pitches for him. He should be dropped to for this WC.

Why didn't SS bowl? Give him a chance and see what he has to offer with the ball.

Lot of talk in the Aussie media about this game due to it being Clarke's comeback game. Aussie public wanna know if he is fit enough to be in the World Cup starting XI. So there is pressure for Clarke to score big in this match. We gotta put in a good performance in this match so we can prove to the Aussie public that we are no pushovers ideally dismiss Clarke for a low score.
