Hello! How’re you internet friends? I was waiting for some feedback of you people! I just throw a stone(education) in this forum. Still I’m observing the reaction from this forum. I just creating the field for sharing my views. Some of you responded as my expactation but some are still behaving as their background. Anyway I’m still static at my comment -'Cricket is a game of literate people'. You know even I didn’t mention what type/level/quality of literacy is needed for Bangladesh Cricket Team? I’ll disclose my logical openion in this regard but I mention you that I’m still creating my field in this forum. Time’ll say what to do and what not to do! Because I work in a development field so, I've to create field first!
Best wishes

Well, sir, with due respect, you need to improve your English before disparaging others.

1. "How're" is not a proper form. If it somehow is, it's definitely ugly.
2. You "threw" a stone.
3. You are still observing the reactions.
4. you are creating the field.
5. "Openion" and "expactation" are not English words.
6. Opinions themselves are not "logical".
7. Your ideas mostly don't make any sense. You don't have to make any field here.

I could have said a lot more. But I don't feel like it.

There's your feedback.

You should also learn to accept the fact that not everyone will respond according to your expectations. People have different opinion.
Anyways, welcome back.

mba, if you wish to have a useful discussion on your views perhaps you need to clarify your comments and resist using statements like "Some of you responded as my expactation but some are still behaving as their background."

So rather than holding back your "logical opinion" in this regard, perhaps it will help if you state your views. One cause of confusion is the use of the term "literacy" - but perhaps you meant intelligence or intellect. You mentioned you didn't mention the "type/level/quality"; perhaps it is time to stop beating about the bush and clearly state what your basic premise is?

Perhaps, I can help with a few questions:

1. How do you define literacy in this context?
2. Do you believe that some basic "book-learning" is necessary for being good cricketers (or for that matter a good sportsman?
3. Does having a degree necessarily imply being literate/intelligent?
4. Do you thiink some one who has not had formal-education can be smart ?
5. Are you familiar with Howard Garnder's Theories of Multiple Intelligences? (ref. check out HGSE, Harvard Graduate School of Education?. If so, (and if not, I recommend that you do some research), do you agree with the basic elements of his theory?

Thanks

"but some are still behaving as their background"

what are you trying to say?

I think we have a very good example showing that literacy or formal education cannot guarantee superior performance.

That would be the example of Nafis Iqbal. He is a 'literate' kid by any standard. He was taught in an English medium school and speaks fluent English. But his performance is not indicative of his literacy.

I am sure he understands what a foreign coach tries to communicate to him better than anybody currently on the national team. But if he doesn't persevere and apply himself, he wouldn't be that big of an asset to our team in the final analysis.

Asif, we don't have to be intellectually strong enough to ratiocinate this "background" thingy. A very typical mofossholi middle class supercilious attitude!

i know Navarene, i know what he means...what i said was something like...suppose somebody tries to give an indication about something...like in this case mba did...and then the other person responds by saying..."ki bolte chaaw tumi..?"
it was something like that...i probably should have ended my sentence with..."are you trying to say that we're a bunch of choto loks from bad backgrounds?"

Even if he meant that, it shouldn't matter to you.

If you actually take it seriously and react to such comments, you are as irrational as the person who made them.

With all due respect, Mba you are still living in the past man! Come back to reality! 'Cricket is a game of literate people' how much do you know about BD cricket? I haven't seen a single post from you that relate to BD cricket, so my point is give up your crapy idea and talk about something else like that rest of us doing!

I think he has the right to say anything he wants. Now, whether that makes him look stupid or not is another matter. You shouldn't be too bothered by it anyway. :)

While seconding his views, I'd like to go a step further and respectfully submit a four letter recommendation to our learned friend mba: E. S. O. L.

mofossholi - he he he. For a sec i thought it's an English word ( i.e. mofo), then got my head arround it...oh no!

mofossholi=not-urbane

but i think mofossholi looks nice in 'latin bangla' than in proper format.

Mr. mba sir! you have mentioned that you work in development (SIDA). Could you elaborate on your work and how it relates to this field of discussion, as you seem to insinuate in your post?
