We have had a few food threads in the forum in the past.

But this one is only for the dish that you can cook and they turn out to be okay.

So no mothers or wife's dishes, no haji biryani, or any restaurant dish.

I can only cook daal and chicken. Beef curry is okay.

I was about to post my cooking images but after seeing that lamb curry I think I shouldn't.

Mines are barely edible at best

I love this thread, as I really enjoy cooking. :D

I made this Uzbek Plov (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilaf), a biryani-like dish, with lamb, carrots and rice. Seasoned simply with cumin and a whole clove of garlic.

http://i67.tinypic.com/2hhkw9j.jpg

Sometime ago, I was visiting my girlfriend (now wife) in London and I bought the hard-to-find Jamaican jerk seasoning (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamaican_jerk_spice) and made Jamaican jerk chicken with coconut rice and black beans:

http://i65.tinypic.com/303a3va.jpg

As I used to live in Morocco, I came to really enjoy lamb tajine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tajine). My landlord left a very nice tajine dish at my flat, so I decided to make good use of it one Friday evening by making lamb tagine with almonds, prunes and honey. This is how it is prepared:

And this is how it looks, when served with cous cous!

Thanks! I used this recipe: http://moroccanfood.about.com/od/maindishes/r/Mrouzia.htm

It's been a while since I last made it, thinking of marinating some more lamb tonight, if I can find a good cut.

Good idea! When I was in Dhaka, I tried to make my own jerk chicken seasoning using scotch bonnet chilies and it came out much hotter :) Speaking of spice, last Friday I made Thai Green Curry with chicken. I devoured it too quickly to take photos but next time hopefully.

I would never eat aklemalp's cooked food. He got me worried when he brougt all those rooti in the container in our gathering...

Interesting guy. only reason i didn't eat those rooti because I genuinely thought it had poison in it.

The food that I brought that day wasn't my cooking. My mom made it with lots of love.

My mother's love is not poison...just pure and warm...

Ahh, the 'white' stuff is actually syrup...phone's camera can't take a good enough close-up pic..

My successful attempt so far on desi cooking:

Daal (including Aloo Daal that I recently learned)
Chicken Biryani
Whole-chicken roast
Thai soup (BD style)
Aloo vorta
Niramish/vegetable (North BD Style)
Beef rezala (on Qurbani Eid)
Koi mach vajha with onions, etc.

Other than moshurer daal and bhaat on rice-cooker, I've NO guarantee if I can cook those items again to same effect..:D

--------------

Simon vhai, how do you cook KFC type chicken and Chicken grill using mustard sauce and maggi cube? Recipe please.
