Traditional English Recipe

http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/assets_c/2012/10/225718-20121017-british-bites-bangers-mash-onion-gravy-thumb-625xauto-277887.jpg

Ingredients

4 russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 2 inch chunks
Kosher salt
6 tablespoons butter
1 cup milk
Freshly ground black pepper
3 medium onions, thinly sliced (about 3 cups sliced onions)
1 bay leaf
2 1/2 tablespoons flour
2 1/2 cups store-bought or homemade low-sodium beef or chicken broth
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
8 bangers (about 2 pounds, see note above)

Directions
1.
Place potatoes in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Season well with salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce to a simmer, and cook until potatoes are soft, about 10 minutes. Drain and place back in saucepan, add 3 tablespoons butter and 2/3 cup milk, and mash with a potato masher, adding more milk if a looser consistency is desired. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Keep warm.

2.
Heat remaining 3 tablespoons butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until melted. Add onions and bay leaf and cook, stirring often, until onions are brown, about 15 minutes.

3.
Sprinkle with flour and mix until flour is evenly incorporated with onions. Stirring constantly, slowly pour stock over onion mixture. Bring to a simmer over high heat, stirring often, then lower heat to medium and cook until thickened, about 6 minutes. Remove and discard bay leaf. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and keep warm.

4.
Heat vegetable oil in a large stainless steel skillet over medium high heat until shimmering. Reduce heat to medium-low. Place bangers in the skillet and cook until browned on one side, about 5 minutes; flip bangers and cover. Cook until bangers are fully cooked, about 6 minutes longer.

5.
Divide mash between 4 plates, place 2 bangers on each pile of mash, and top with onion gravy. Serve with brown ale and extra gravy and strong mustard passed alongside.

Bangladesh need to win the toss. England have been piling on runs while batting first, at home with very aggressive style. So maybe batting first setting them a target won't be a bad idea but depending on conditions early on, if overcast bowl first.

Good luck team BD :flag:

My XI.
Tamim
Sarkar
Kayes
Mushy (wkt)
Shakib
Sabbir
Mahmudullah
Mortaza (cpt)
Rubel

I won't be here for that game, as I will be going to that game with more than a dozen people. Hope we do win because they are the toughest team in the group, and beating them will make them favourites to actually beat Australia next. Then again, I'm not either bothered if we lose, as I'm also England born, so I win either way :)

This will be my XI: Tamim, Sarker, Shabbir, Mushfiqur, Shakib, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek, Miraz, Mashrafe, Rubel and Fizz.

Mashrafe must bowl all his overs before the 40th. I would like to see Sarker bowling 1-2 overs down the line somewhere. Rubel and Fizz need to bowl 8 of the last 10.

I went to a game last CT at the oval, pak v WI. Many Pakistanis prayed inside near the gates to get into the blocks, u know where people go into to get snacks etc.

If it was lords would have been easy to go to Regent's Park mosque, not sure if any nearby mosques to the oval.

Where will u be sitting bro?

Bedser stand as far as I remember.

Apparently the Oval reserved a praying area in previous events but the stand has been booked sadly.

The Oval people suggested Brixton is the closest, but thats quite a treck.

I know the areas you are referring to, but lets see. InshahAllah I hope its ok for us all to pray. As I will have my bros with me, we will take turns to pray while guarding each other. Dont want to end up viral on twitter :D

BD fans should have a relaxing day tomorrow at the oval. They completely got owned yesterday by Indian fans and Bharat Army (Indian version of Barmy Army). The stadium was filled with 80% Indians but handful of BD fans with tiger attire were screaming a lot in the morning. Then what happened in the afternoon and the sloganeering that followed I cant write here but you can guess. :D

At the end of the game everyone shook hand though and took pics. All well that ends well as they say.

English fans can be another tough cookie...so beware.E-)

I find this English team overrated mental midgets, you go hard on them they piss in their pants, I have seen what Root butler could do when being squeezed, we have a very high chance of facing them at semis or finals God willing, just hope we could run through their so called superior batting line up, I am looking forward to beating England even more than Pak, our wounds are not healed yet, we have a score to settle.

BTW who would you support in a Eng vs Ind match?

Guys i just wanna say one thing and that is please be very resilient and ready for anything that comes our way tommorrow. I dont want any after match shananigans and i also hate when 10 of the same threads are being opened here. Just simply be ready to take it all and pray for our team. Guys know that this england australia and nz team are very equipped for this conditions and we are not. They are really strong considering everything and they litterally are outmatching us in every department. Not that we are bad but we need for time in these conditions. Its going to be really hard for our players and us fans. So please keep the expectations to a limit and just pray for the team and players so that they can do really well.

1) Opening stance (Tamim-SS) need to be super consistent for all 3 matches
2) Mushy-Mullah need to score every match
3) Some Fizz magic + Rubel's aggressiveness
4) Mash's foresight, inspiration and overall captaincy need to be at that level
5) Fielding needs to be world class
6) Bonus: If Shakib can play like No. 1 allrounder, then...

This the XI I would play. Like already mentioned, don't need Mossa bhai if Miraz is playing. Got 5main bowlers and few overs from Mullah/Soumya/Sabbir would be handy, here's where a better part timer in Nasir would've come so handy, had Nasir been in, Sabbir could've stayed at #3, Nasir #5, Shakib #6 and Mahmud #7. Looks strong to me. Miraz and Mortaza can be more than handy with bat especially Miraz who has potentials to bat 4-7!

Fun Facts:
Both teams were reduced to 20/6 in their last outings

Imrul Kayes is the highest scorer (420) for Bangladesh against England.
He was the man of the match in 2011 WC match between the two teams, scored a match winning 76 in only match Bangladesh beaten England in England, also has a century in last series these two teams met. He will most probably not feature in the main eleven tommorrow.

Feeling so bad as really wanted to go and watch it live but driving from North to South where the game is bit too hard especially when fasting in this long summer days. Any way good luck hoping for a competitive match if not a win. I think we should bat first and try and score 270-280, don't think letting them bat first would be ideal as Eng have a very good and long batting line up, capable of scoring over 300 which would mean we lost the game even before going to bat

Bought a couple of tickets at the last minute. Didn't want to go because of Ramadan. Couldn't contain my excitement when saw that tickets were available. Price was way too high but it's worth it. Now waiting for the morning special delivery of the tickets. Hope they arrive early.

The atmosphere is going to be electric. So looking forward to it.

I will be there tomorrow in the gold category Vauxhall stand. Let me know if anyone else is coming! Really looking forward to it, but fearful too of what England can do.

It's forecasted to be sunny in the morning with cloud covering in the early afternoon, then sunny again. Win toss Insh'a'Allah and bat first. Post a solid total. Then bowl under the grey clouds in the early afternoon. 0% chance of rain apparently.

Man I pray we don't collapse like we did vs India.

This game has been over subscribered which is why tickets were in ballot and from what I hear By Bangladeshis.

Also people from East London can easily use tube to get to Oval. Lolz

1) Opening stance (Tamim-SS) need to be super consistent for all 3 matches
2) Mushy-Mullah need to score every match
3) Some Fizz magic + Rubel's aggressiveness
4) Mash's foresight, inspiration and overall captaincy need to be at that level
5) Fielding needs to be world class
6) Bonus: If Shakib can play like No. 1 allrounder, then...

We have more chance of winning anything if #6 happens. Goodluck tigers

Since following Bangladesh from 2003 almost like a maniac I have developed some 6th sense. I can almost feel what the Bangladeshis are feeling within the team, and trust me the feeling almost always translates to performance, will be interesting to see how correct I am with the following statement about our chances.

I feel Bangladesh will be excited before the match, almost too excited. A lot of them will be dreaming of a dominant victory, maybe even dream of hitting the winning run. A lot of them would not have slept whole night. For them the occassion will get to them, it is will be a nervous moment for the team. If the opposition gets off to a flying start we got a good chance of winning this game because only then will they come back to reality and concentrate hard. In fielding and bowling they will be ok but with nervousness mixed with excitement I doubt if they will be able to hit big scores. We have a better chance of winning 2nd and 3rd matches because of this, just the sheer fact that the occasion of the whole world watching, first match of the CT and almost first time in England for most of the squad. This will be nerve-wrecking moment for the team. I won't be surprised if they capitulate to the pressure created by the media, the packed stadium and just themselves.

This is exactly what I am feeling now, and I hope and pray to Dear God that this is not true. That we can absorb the pressure and just go out there and enjoy and look to play fearlessly. Yet to see which route we are going to take. Either England got no chance or BD is going to crumble like a deck of cards.

I wanna see Soumya going all Chuck Noris on them poms, Eng bowling is not that threatening, BD must take full advantage of it to stand a chance, Soumya should be give license to attack right from the word go, Tamim can take his time and hold one end, if the opening clicks anything is possible.

Well unfortunately most don't like travelling even if it's 20mins drive (unless no traffic). Having it near within their own borough most have easier access to get to from each angles.

Bricklane goes mad if Bangladesh wins haha, still happens today. It's like the centre of Bangladeshis. Who knows if BD win today, many business owners might offer free Iftar for people living nearby. They use to offer free food in the past when BD wins.

Not really perfect, from Newham to oval it's almost an hour (don't forget the traffic). Having it in Newham by the olympic park where England easily can have a stadium or maybe even should have shared the West Ham stadium occasionally on icc events, enables both two boroughs of East London were Bdeshi origins are heavily in to come from different ways, easily more have reach!

Good selection. We needed to strengthen the top order. Cannot afford to expose the middle order of Mushfiq, Shakib and Ryad to the new ball. Tamim Soumya and Kayes need to see off at least 15 overs. If we can do that the rest of the batting can shift gear later in the innings. 300 is required as a minimum against that England lineup

Poor decision...Eng should have batted first on this glorious sunny day in London.

I'm agreeing with you this time .... yes very very lucky to bat first here... bd can't chase 250 on pressure match , but pressure free... we can score above 340 with 9 batsman...

Agree. Miraz would've been better choice over Mossadekk who is a part timer. Oh man! Bowling option is thin.

Good decision. No point in playing two Frontline spinners in such condition.

I think so too.... that's why happy to see bd batting.... now we can utilize big batting line up... anything above 320 must, inshallah :flag:

If we lose the team has some major explanation to do! So much of experimentation and still no stable squad!!! Miraz did everything to get a place in the team and Shabbir was tried at 3 for a reason, the reason was CT. Sigh... Really frustrating to see this
