Okay enough fun guys. We really need to prepare hard.

I think we should be more wary of new ball. Before edging to slip was a major issue, now it always seems to be inability to defend the ones where they bowl straight at stumps keeping tight line and length hoping for lbw or caught behind in the opening overs.
Start slow first.
Keep up with the same pressure at death.
Fizz issue. A stat showed how his economy increases (decreases) by nearly a run against right handers. At any rate, what should Walsh work with him?
I know it depends on who we play, but four pacers again? Thoughts?
Possible squad?
Any stats on how we have improve on rotation of strike and if we improved our dot ball percentage?
Be prepared to either score or chase 320-350 plus any time soon.
Carry on guys...

On a separate note I like what Cricket Australia is doing to practice yorkers. Bowling under a bar...

I think against SA we should play Miraz.

They have de Kock Duminy and Miller. Parnell is a lefty.

Need a quality offie if we face SA

Yeah. But some things are constant. I know we have a strong squad and probably we will tweak little, but Soumya was woeful this tournament. This remains a concern.

I'm more than 75% sure it will be India that will be progressing. Sabbir at #3 is a huge mistake. He has failed. He's better at #6. I would be tempted to move Mushfiqur at #3 and Riyad at #4. I say that because Sarker loses his wicket early, and Shabbir can't rectify it, so it's best to have your best batsman at #3. Shakib, Shabbir, Mosaddek, Mashrafe is enough fire-power should we need it. This will be my XI should we face India (most likely).

Tamim, Sarker, Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah, Shakib, Shabbir, Mosaddek, Mashrafe, Rubel, Taskin and Mustafizur. 7 batsman is enough for Bangladesh. Plenty of bowling options. Mosaddek can do the job as a off-spinner.

We wouldn't have won the game against New Zealand hadn't we included Taskin. What Taskin brings is pace & bounce: something Mashrafe, Rubel and Mustafizur don't offer. Taskin may not be as quick as Rubel, but is quick enough with his height.

The newer players need to fire with the bat.

I don't want players to have their heads in the clouds.

I think we have a good team. Only Shabbir shouldn't be batting at 3/4.
You can't really change much in a few days in terms of other things really.

Areas which have been poor:
- inside ring fielding has been poor. Can't stop singles
- top order doesn't rotate strike as often
- Fizz and Shakib not getting length in first part of their bowling
- body language is poor and the guys not pumped up

Bonglababu
June 10, 2017, 07:31 PM
In subcontinental pitches, Shabbir at 3 could be a viable option. But in English conditions against quality bowling, we shouldn't take a chance.

Even though it is South Africa or Srilanka we face in the semi finals, I still think Saikat is a better option than Miraz.

Yes. We cannot tank after one helluva performance. Many times before we bombed after some phenomenal wins. Let's hope our boys will cash in on the momentum.

Then again these players are no mug themselves. They can take care of themselves. Just a fun thread for us arm chair fans to kill some time with our moshas.

I think it's time to focus on the game coming up, having a proper plan. We won't get a chance to play semi final every day and this time it seems the luck is in our side so better be prepared and play to win this and break into final.

I don't think miraz would be very effective in this condition and when we have mosaddek and Riyad who can bowl off spin we should go with four pacers who have done more than a decent job in the last game.

- Need to use Masri as a Middle Over Pinch Hitter vs the spinners. He's useless against pace in the death.

I think the batting lineup will be too unstable to have both Soumya and Sabbir in the top 3, also given the weakness of the lower order hitting, I think it makes sense for Sabbir to bat lower at 6 or 7. Shakib has batted most of his career at 5 and Riyad's best position is 4 as he averages 50 there. This leaves number 3 vacant for either Mushfiqur or Mosaddek (I'm going with 7 batsmen so no room for Kayes). I think it's too early and unfair to make Mosaddek with 17 matches to bat at 3 compared to Mushfiqur with over 150 games and who has never really had a fixed batting position. If a wicket falls early then Mushfiqur would need to stabilise the innings and accumulate. Mosaddek has proven in the last match that he can take crucial wickets and fill an all-rounder role at 7. So my line-up would be: Tamim, Soumya, Mushfiqur, Riyad, Shakib, Sabbir, Mosaddek, Mashrafe, Taskin, Rubel, Mustafizur.

So we will be meeting India it seems like. Rule number one: Don't get out for 84.

Don't fish for out swingers, shuffle and try to put B Kumar out of his line and length. Have the same approach as Morgan and Stokes did. Do what Joss Buttler does normally, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, time and dispatch.

All I know is if you stay rooted and start reaching, B Kumar and co will get you again.

While bowling, don't get too creative if things don't go your way. Have a gameplan. The target should be to keep them below 300, not bowl them out.

Discuss the game, who to play, and whom not to play.

Just stick to the topic.

Mashrafe needs to play 110%

Play Mehedi for the sake of bowling against Dhawan and Yuvraj.

Need to drown out the singles that the fielding is giving up so easily.

Faster fielder's in the circle.
They should work on that.

Shakib needs to bowl during the middle overs, stifling the batsmen.

I will say more later.

One thing we really need to be wary of is chasing down tricky totals like 260-280... in between ones. Because on a tricky two-paced pitch, these can be hard to defend.

Not necessarily 350ish ones are the headache.

Guys, the only way to beat India is if we play out there with nothing to lose. If the seniors let the juniors dominate and attack while the seniors do what they do best, that is take responsibility. The whole team has to perform if we are to win this, but at the same time we can't put any pressure on them. Let them enjoy, we need to play an extraordinary game in order to beat Indians in England, a place where they have more experience than us and players who have played more cricket than us.

Bangladesh team has to unite and tell themselves that we will not give up and we will attack India and their wickets every ball. We need to attack their long batting order and never be complacent. Kohli comes in bring your Taskin and Rubels. Dhoni comes in bring Mustafizur, we need to be very very clinical but at the same time keep calm and hold our nerves. The team that holds their nerves better will win the match. Never ever give up!

Something tells me that we will win this match, 6th sense if you can call it. But even if we lose, I want the tigers to really showcase their talent and give the world a show! Also, I am hoping against hope we have our 12th man in the ground, our fans. We will need them on Thursday. There is a huge population of Bangladeshis in Edgbaston and I want them to make some noise and support the team. Specially when we are behind in the game. Lastly as I said in my previous posts, I am looking forward to our young guns like Shabbir and Soumya to play attacking cricket and just dominate. Guys, these two are our most attacking batsmen and they haven't fired at all. We need to let them loose against India and hope they do something special, because if they play well we stand a very very good chance

I really want that to happen, Mushfiq can play at 3, that way Shabbir can be useful at no7 and Shakib/ Riyadh can play no 4 and 5 positions and they are capable to do that and experienced would be handy in those positions. But Team management never tried that don't understand why Mushfiq wasn't tested at no 3 position/ he even opened in that position.
