A little old news...it was published on Cricinfo, June 28th...but I thought that this may warrant a discussion here on this forum:

Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman has broken into the ICC's top 10 rankings for T20I batsmen for the first time. He is currently tenth with 627 points, after the rankings were updated following the T20I series between England and South Africa.

Sabbir, 25, rose in the rankings despite scoring only 117 runs in five innings this year.

What's more impressive is that Shahzad, despite playing for an associate (till now) team, is tied with FaF. And the fact that he can do that with his poor physic, just imagine how much better he might be with a proper diet and better body. Or is he proof that all that talk about eating right is just nonsense? haha.

Still congrats to Sabbir. Just hope this doesn't go to his already big head.

Yeah, but we have to understand that Shahzad played most of his games against teams ranked lower that theirs.

They used to say the same about Shakib. That he was only the #1 all rounder b/c he plays against Zim. Can't fault a guy for his opponents.

True, true. Shahzad and co. are actually good players. Remember in T20 WC last year, they beat WI.

I don't think he deserves it honestly. I think I can name 10 t20 batsmen better than him.

However, I like that he is unapologetically aggressive. But you don't get points for intention do you.

Hashim Amla actually has a better record in T20is than Sabbir in terms of strike rate and average. This ranking also considers number of matches played in certain time frame, so it is not always a true reflection.
