Our boys are in the UK for a good series of cricket.

We have a decent bowling lineup: Gabriel, Roach, Cummins, Alzarri Joseph, Bishoo, Holder.

Cummins already with experience in the country... playing county cricket.

Blackwood will be the surprise...

Go Windies! !!

WI needs to win all the ODIs, also SL needs to lose all the odis vs Ind..then and only then WI will qualify for the 2019 WC directly

aklemalp

I don't see us making it directly to the 2019 WC.

I don't see it either..but the scenario is there..

A less than 1% chance of that happening :)

Going back to the longer format, it was good to see Kemar Roach picking up wickets in the practice game

Soon, we will have enough pacers to cause teams to scratch their heads lol.

On this tour we have Cummins, Roach, Alzarri, Gabriel, to a lesser extent Holder...also Kensrick...

Beaton was more than a handful last nite, I hope WI have plans for him in the near future.

Gowza
August 5, 2017, 10:17 AM
I'm surprised It's taken this long for Beaton to really be acknowledged, he was a clear talent in his u19 days not dis similar to alzarri or holder who both got opportunities for WI at much younger ages.

aklemalp
August 5, 2017, 03:13 PM
We play Kent in another practice match tomorrow. The batsmen need to step up

aklemalp
August 12, 2017, 11:16 AM
Solid batting from West Indies in the tour match

400 runs for only 3 wickets.

Shai Hope and Chase with centuries

aklemalp
August 12, 2017, 11:16 AM
Kyle Hope also.

Wanted to see a performance like this in overseas conditions in a long time.

aklemalp
August 13, 2017, 10:55 AM
Century for Kieron Powell in the second innings.

Good game for the Windies

aklemalp
August 14, 2017, 01:19 PM
Roston Chase's scores on this tour so far: 81, 50*, 110*, 60*..

301 @ 301

First session of the first day-night test in England...

England are batting first, 71/2.

Pathetic batting display.

Excellent game for England. As comprehensive as it can get.

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 08:39 AM
Bat on Kraigg
Bat on Shai

Let's take advantage of the situation.

Go Windies!

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 08:52 AM
Kraigg into the 80s
Shai not too far behind

Partnership is 125 off 204

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 09:21 AM
Into the nervous 90s for Kraigg

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 09:40 AM
Brings up his century with a six!

Wellplayed so far Kraigg. Job is not over yet

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 09:43 AM
So it's tea time now and we currently trail England by 52 runs. Let's hope that those runs will be wide out soon, and we start leading with no further wicket down

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 10:36 AM
Shai brings up his century now, and it's our first double century partnership overseas in 3 years.

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 10:49 AM
Almost nearing England's total. Come on boys.

Rally,
Rally round the West Indies,
Now and forever

Broad and Anderson with the second new ball. We are near the 258.

It should be another start.

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 10:57 AM
A Bangladesh-West Indies test series would be really ideal in the coming months.

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 11:01 AM
Scores are level

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 11:32 AM
Hope about to catch up Kraigg

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 11:33 AM
And the breakthrough is provided by Broad. Brathwaite goes for 134

aklemalp
August 26, 2017, 01:02 PM
So we finished the day on 329/5

Shai Hope unbeaten on 147*

The lead is 71 runs, we need to take it over 200. Bat England out of this game.

aklemalp
August 27, 2017, 06:12 AM
Bat on Blackwood
Bat on Skipper Holder

Let's get this lead past 200

aklemalp
August 27, 2017, 06:15 AM
Almost nearing 400, and the two of them nearing their half centuries

aklemalp
August 27, 2017, 06:26 AM
Awe damn it. Lost skipper holder.

Come on Blackwood, time to switch gears

aklemalp
August 27, 2017, 06:50 AM
Everyone loves a last wicket resistance by two genuine tailenders.
Enter Roach and Gabriel. On a mission towards extending the lead to 200+

aklemalp
August 27, 2017, 07:25 AM
Okay so the lead is 169.

We have to take advantage of this situation.

aklemalp
August 27, 2017, 04:46 PM
Holder let the pressure slip away by persisting with Chase instead of bowling Bishoo. They also dropped quite a few catches.

aklemalp
August 29, 2017, 08:11 AM
203 more to get in a minimum of 60 overs.

Kraigg and Shai at the crease.

aklemalp
August 29, 2017, 10:39 AM
Little by little we are chipping away at the target.

103 more to get, 7 wickets in hand.

aklemalp
August 29, 2017, 10:55 AM
99 more runs needed from 26 overs.

come on Windies.

Roy_1
August 29, 2017, 11:22 AM
This is pure Karma, I remember after the first test many English analysts belittled WI, you never look down upon your opposition, never. Hope this win gives the much needed Oxygen to the WI team, I for one never doubted their talent. Come on Windies get the job done quickly and swiftly, beating England in England is no small feat.

aklemalp
August 29, 2017, 11:25 AM
That was an awesome catch from the sub. Chase walks back.

aklemalp
August 29, 2017, 12:07 PM
38 more to get.

Shai Hope becomes to the 1st player to make 100s in both wickets here in FC at this venue

aklemalp
August 29, 2017, 12:22 PM
30 needed off 10 overs

Arw you suggesting they didn't deserve to be criticised for their shambolic display in the first test? Credit to them for coming back in the second.

There is a difference between constructive criticism and hurling insults, asking for relegation etc. The comments from many English cricket analysts and pundits were downright disrespectful.

They did the same with us when we lost back to back tests there, nothing will satisfy me more than beating England and England and put the snobs in their rightful place.

You're drinking the wrong rum. West Indian rum is the best in the world.

Haha... now I love you both Night_wolf and you.

Now, I hope our boys don't get complacent. We need to stamp our authority over the English men. Work hard to win the series.

Jermaine Blackwood is quickly becoming a freaking mythical figure. His innings actually was the final nail in the coffin for Root and his men.

On a serious note, Windies surely have talents in abundance but they need to instill some maturity and stability as well, one day they look club level and world beaters the very next day. The Hopes, Chase, Braithwaite, Chase all these guys are seriously talented only Holder is a passenger though IMO.

They are some good young talent coming up...the ones you mentioned.

But there's one guy who I am keeping my eyes on...he's not a fast bowler. An off spinning allrounder. His name is Bhaskar Yadram, only 18. Plays for the under-19 team.

It was bit too late to draft in Gayle and try to get more ex-senior players involved.
Such an unfortunate thing for West Indies. Would have loved seeing them in England.

But now they have to go through a difficult qualification. It's hard to see them come through*

I say get the youngsters in under his tutelage before he leaves. Starting to build a lot of respect for law as a coach, seems to be able to build teams really well.

It's such a seemingly slow gradual change. I remember when Ambrose was let go, and how our fast bowling attack slowly improve. We brought back Roach into the test team. Not afraid to drop a struggling pacer (Alzarri and Miguel) in the test team.

Shannon just needs to work on dropping his front foot behind the line, because sooner rather than later, he will do something that will cost us a game.

Yep, Stuart Law us having an impact on the team.

20 over games, with a 6 and a 4 in every over You reach to 170 with ease using 8/9 batsmen/alrounders without rotating the strike much. Not taking the singles won't hurt you to an extent. As Carlos finished of Stokes with 4 mighty blow. Unbelievable stuff which one can only find in fantasy games.

One can't sustain that type of hitting in 50 overs game. The risk is higher with each wicket falling. I wouldn't label them as accumulators. I would emphasize in rotating strike and take what the defense/fielding gives and minimize risk.

So, we have to adopt a new template for our team.
