Anyone remember that test Brendan Taylor played in and he scored a century in both innings?

Gowza
October 5, 2017, 03:48 AM
No Darren bravo I thought was kind of weird.

WI got some exciting fast bowling talent not on this tour but hopefully will be in the fray soon. Beaton already in the squads but oshane Thomas looks awesome, Reynard levereriege has potential, odean smith, chemar holder, keon harding and sylvester clarkes son shakeem Clarke is getting some hype now.

Ambris, Lewis, bravo, shai hope could make a solid batting unit.

Russell, rovman, Reiffer pretty decent allrounders.

narine, nurse for the spinners.

I'm sure I've missed some names especially with the batting.

DinRaat.
October 5, 2017, 03:51 AM
In form, Mire, Raza and Ervine combined with BRMT and Kyle Jarvis. The WI don't stand a chance.

Revamped Zimbabwe have teeth now. WI should win though. There will be fight and resistance for sure. Very interesting series.

It will be interesting to see how Zimbabwe does at home given their recent success away to Sri Lanka. It's an important series despite being a low-key one. I don't think they are part of the test table as of yet.

Jason Holder on Zimbabwe cricket:

“They (Zimbabwe) had a really good time in Sri Lanka and they seem to be very competitive,” the all-rounder noted.

“And obviously with Brendan Taylor and Kyle Jarvis coming back into their squad, they’re pretty much at full strength as well.

“Consistency is something I’ve preached in the dressing room for a very long time and I think once we’re consistent in all departments we should get the results we’re looking for.”

why no ODI in this series?

I think I was not scheduled, it was arranged last minute. So I love me some tests.

aklemalp

5/7 ODIs would have been good preparation for WI before the WC qualifying, specially when the qualifiers are taking place in Zim

I would have love a complete series. But it is what it is at the moment.

Teams are not doing that at the moment...Australia just finished a limited overs series against India...now NZ are preparing to play a limited overs series against India.

aklemalp
October 15, 2017, 07:49 AM
Chase and Shai going along easily...26 and 25 respectively.

148/3

aklemalp
October 15, 2017, 09:04 AM
The partnership is still going strong.

226/3

Shai on 70

I thought it was Kyle and not Shai.

Err, sorry.

Thanks for that T_E bro:)

I am following the trend of only knowing the most popular sibling,..., Yeah, it's Kyle Hope making one last attempt to make that permanent test spot.

On the other hand, I am surprised that they have not let loose Shimron Hetmyer on the Zimbos.

Probably, they might play him in the 1st test as a surprise factor.

Gowza
October 16, 2017, 08:07 PM
They should play hetmyer, if they treat him right and give him support then he'll be a really good player.

aklemalp
October 16, 2017, 08:33 PM
Unlikely they'll play Hetmyer.

aklemalp
October 17, 2017, 11:06 AM
Hetmyer did get a dig in the second innings. Made 30-odd

kyle hope solidify his spot.

Will be interesting to see the team for the first game.

Well I hope they let him play, it would be a good experience for him.

Yeah, he's getting the overseas exposure. This is very helpful to him. They might not play him, I think.

Yeah, he's getting the overseas exposure. This is very helpful to him. They might not play him, I think.

Maybe not but I think it's the perfect situation to play him, quality opposition but not the best of the best and away from home. If he gets runs he'll get the confidence he needs to jump start his international career. Then again some say to blood quality youngsters against the very best so the standard is set high from the start.

Ah, test cricket at its best.

The battle. Not even giving an inch Zimbabwe. Disciplined

DinRaat.
October 21, 2017, 06:53 AM
I think we need another El-Clasico Bangladesh V Zimbabwe @ Zimbabwe, with our hapless bowling lineup I would put my money on Zimbabwe to win 2-1(3 match series)

Don't see our current bowling lineup worrying Taylor,Ervine and Williams.

Why can't we have a spinner like Cremer :(

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 06:19 AM
Brendan Taylor made only 1.

But Zimbabwe are in some control to take first innings lead

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 06:40 AM
Another one goes.

Sikander.

Bishoo with his 3rd. Wicket is turning.

133/5

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 07:52 AM
All out for 159.

That means we have a lead of 60.

Bishoo with the five wicket haul.
24-4-79-5

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 08:19 AM
Have a feeling we'll not cross 200 in the second innings.

This is a spinning wicket

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 09:03 AM
Cremer strikes in his first over.

33/1. Powell is the one dismissed.

Now this is a possible last chance for Kyle Hope

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 09:23 AM
The lead is 113 at the moment. For the loss of one wicket. Setting a 300 runs target on this wicket would be what windies should be aiming for

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 09:29 AM
Sean Williams is bowling like Rangana here

aklemalp
October 22, 2017, 10:07 AM
So it's stumps on day 2. West Indies are 88/2... a lead of 148 runs. They'll go to bed happy tonight, bowled out Zimbabwe for 159. The hosts were looking at one stage comfortably placed.

aklemalp
October 23, 2017, 09:08 AM
Lead is already 377

Chase and Bishoo at the crease...good partnership going on for the 8th wicket. 40

aklemalp
October 23, 2017, 09:13 AM
Come on boys, bat on until 400 lead or stumps today. .and declare over night

aklemalp

Bishoo on the attack here. ...quick runs

Lead is 396

aklemalp
October 23, 2017, 09:32 AM
400 lead is up.

Cremer also brought up his century

aklemalp
October 23, 2017, 09:36 AM

Stranded in the 90s? or stranded with a 50+ score?

Because since 2014, only one Windies player was stranded in the 90s, and that was Shai Hope in the first inning of this match.

I think our batting in this second inning came with a ruthlesseness that was missing in our previous teams.

The boys were batting with purpose and not letting the spinners dictate terms. This is the Stuart Law effect.

We have a good bunch of young batsmen, and the bowlers are complementing them.

That England tour was the best thing that happened to our cricket.

Bat on

Tigers_eye

This is getting interesting. A 64+ run partnership. WI need to regroup. Holder should do something. Bring in close fielders or something.

aklemalp
October 24, 2017, 09:09 AM
Got him!

Sikander Raza plays a lazy shot outside the off stump and an easy catch for Chase at cover.

Zimbabwe are 5 down. Bishoo with his 8th wicket of the match. He's now only 2 wickets away from 100 test wickets.

Tigers_eye
October 24, 2017, 09:09 AM
lol, the ink wasn't dry. Bishoo breaks through. Raza gone. Zim 5 down.

al Furqaan
October 24, 2017, 09:25 AM
Raza and Williams are not consistent enough. Throw their wickets away too often. Raza is probably the better of the two. Can't see Williams averaging 30+. ZIM are stronger now, but the problem remains their batting really only has Ervine and Taylor who can be trusted to score runs, and Taylor has a very poor overseas record.

aklemalp
October 24, 2017, 09:33 AM
Awwwh, what have you done, Waller?

Slight confusion on a quick single. And Shai Hope direct hits the stumps at the striker side...Waller was not even in the frame.

6th wicket down ....

SportingBD

249/7

We are one wicket away from victory

aklemalp

Current ranking(not including this match) is 75 to Bangladesh's 72

Pakistan is on 88

aklemalp
October 24, 2017, 11:06 AM
That was a very good win by us.. and be sure you got the man of the match he's one wicket away from 100 test wickets.

Hope and Chase sports as well but they got less of them support to carry on.

A test match where no one made a century

aklemalp
October 24, 2017, 11:47 AM
So the following scenarios from here on in relation to rankings:

i) If the series ends WIN-1, ZIM-0, then Windies go on 75 points, while Zimbabwe moves from 0 to 2 points, Zim at 10th, Windies at 8th

ii) If the series end WIN-1, ZIM-1, Windies go down to 72 points, while Zimbabwe move up to 9 points, Windies go below Bangladesh to 9th, while BD moves up to 8th, Zimbabwe stays at 10th.

iii) Is Windies whitewash Zimbabwe, Windies move up to 76 points, not a big move, Zimbabwe stays on o points. No one changes position.

Well, this is just the nature of the game. One minute you are a fan, next you are against. I was actually enjoying the Taylor-Raza partnership. I loved that they made my Windies frustrated. It is the beauty of test cricket. I love it dearly.

Like most of the rest on this forum, I would love to see a Zimbabwe win. But I want to see Windies win an overseas series this year.

I don't want BD to feel any worse. I like them too, but they should know that hard work will put them through the toughest of situations. Not banking on Zimbabwe to beat Windies.

Truths are always offensive in nature.

Hope for another cracking game in the 2nd test.

GO WINDIES!!!!!!

"For ten long years
We ruled the cricket world
Now the rule seems coming to an end
But down here
Just a chink in the armour
Is enough, enough to lose a friend
Some of the old generals have retired and gone
And the runs don't come by as they did before
But when the Toussaints go the Dessalines come
We've lost the battle but yet we will win the war

Rally, rally round the West Indies
Now and forever
Rally, rally round the West Indies
Never say never
Pretty soon the runs are going to flow like water
Bringing so much joy to every son and daughter
Say we're going to rise again like a raging fire
As the sun shines you know we gonna take it higher
Rally, rally round the West Indies
Now and forever
Rally, rally round the West Indies

Way Down Under a warrior falls
Michael Holding falls in the heat of the battle
"Michael shoulda left long time!"
I heard an angry brother shout
Caribbean man, that, that, that is the root of our trouble
In these tiny theatres of conflict and confusion
Better known as the isles of the West Indies
We already know who brought us here
And who created this confusion
So I'm begging, begging my people please "

"Michael shoulda left long time!"
I heard an angry brother shout
Caribbean man, that, that, that is the root of our trouble
In these tiny theatres of conflict and confusion
Better known as the isles of the West Indies
We already know who brought us here
And who created this confusion
So I'm begging, begging my people please "

That's a really nice anthem.

Congrats to Devindra Bishoo for picking up his 100th test wicket.

He becaomes the 6th Windies spinner to reach this mark. And the first spinner since Carl Hooper took his 100th wicket( victim- Russell Arnold) in 2001.

Once again, Sikander Raza is proving to me a special player for Zimbabwe.

Brendan Taylor failed in this test.

That one innings of substance he had in the first test.

Regardless of the result, Raza is my man of the series.
