So before BD gets over to the Caribbean, SL be there playing only the longer format. 3 tests here.

Add those 2 BD tests, and I'd say it'll be a fun time to watch some good ole Test cricket with 5 tests back-to-back.

And also some history-making in the process: 1st day-night test in the West Indies

Okay, so here's the fixture for the tour:

<table style="border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;border-color:#999;table-layout: fixed; width: 274px"><colgroup><col style="width: 77px"><col style="width: 70px"><col style="width: 127px"></colgroup><tr><th style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:bold;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#fff;background-color:#26ADE4;vertical-align:top">DATE</th><th style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:bold;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#fff;background-color:#26ADE4;vertical-align:top">MATCH</th><th style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:bold;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#fff;background-color:#26ADE4;vertical-align:top">WHERE</th></tr><tr><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffffc7;vertical-align:top">May 30- Jun 1</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffffc7;vertical-align:top">Warm-up</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffffc7;vertical-align:top">Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad</td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffccc9;vertical-align:top">Jun 6- 10</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffccc9;vertical-align:top">1st Test</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffccc9;vertical-align:top">Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad</td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffffc7;vertical-align:top">Jun 14-18</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffffc7;vertical-align:top">2nd Test</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffffc7;vertical-align:top">Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia</td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffccc9;vertical-align:top">Jun 23-27</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffccc9;vertical-align:top">3rd Test<br>1st DN Test in WI</td><td style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;border-color:inherit;color:#444;background-color:#ffccc9;vertical-align:top">Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados</td></tr></table>

Sri Lanka Test squad:
Dinesh Chandimal (capt), Mahela Udawatte, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Roshen Silva, Angelo Mathews (subject to fitness), Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Rangana Herath, Dilruwan Perera, Akila Dananjaya, Jeffrey Vandersay, Lahiru Gamage, Kasun Rajitha, Suranga Lakmal (subject to fitness), Lahiru Kumara, Asitha Fernando

West Indies yet to name their team. I reckon it'll feature some new faces. I am hoping Keemo Paul and Rahkeem (I doubt it) get call-ups

Windies squad:

Jason Holder(c), Devendra Bishoo, Devon Smith, Kraigg Brathwaite, Kieran Powell, Roston Chase, Miguel Cummins, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Jahmar Hamilton, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Kemar Roach

Devon returns. Jahmar Hamilton is good wicketkeeper-batsman, better than Dowrich

I thought we would have been skittles out before the close of play, but credit to Dowrich and Bishoo for a partnership of resistance.

Bishoo is on 0* from 32 balls, and Dowrich is on 46 from 133 balls.

Bishoo is known to be a superb night watchman. I think he has never been dismissed doing the job. Today it was not the case, he came in at his assign position and just batted and provide support to Dowrich.

Earlier in the afternoon session Lahiru Kumara was bowling with some venom, consistently clocking around 90 mph. He got one to hit Roston Chase on his gloves, that was a nasty blow.

Tomorrow looks to be an exciting day of test match cricket.

Dowrich ton, fiery pacers give West Indies the advantage

From 145 for 5, the hosts dragged themselves to 414 for 8 - a score Jason Holder felt comfortable enough to declare on. Then their quicks brought the fire. In the 10 overs they had at Sri Lanka before stumps, they had the batsmen jiving and jerking - Shannon Gabriel consistently breaching the 140kph mark. They were rewarded with three wickets, and consequently, a firm grip on this match.

Gabriel striking at the stroke of lunch was big. Momentum.

127/5

And it was Chandimal who was dismissed. Sri Lanka have to bat out of their skins to make a comeback.

Maybe 40 year old uncle Herath and dickwella can do it.

aklemalp
June 8, 2018, 12:12 PM
Very casual running between the wickets from Dickwella costs him his wicket.

Gone for 31. Excellent fielding from Kraigg. Direct hit.

140/6

And now Uncle Herath enters...

aklemalp
June 8, 2018, 06:35 PM
Got to say, loved the way we cleaned up SL's batting in the day.

Then with a healthy lead, adding to it.

That gave Kieran Powell a license to play his natural game. In the process he got some runs under his belt, and took his team's lead close to 400.

With two days left, a declaration might come some time after lunch on day 4.
Gabriel looks doubtful to bowl in the second innings.

Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Gamage out of Sri Lanka's West Indies tour

Sri Lanka have lost Angelo Mathews midway through their West Indies tour, after he left for home due to personal reasons. The news gets worse for the team: fast bowler Lahiru Gamage has been ruled out of the tour as well, thanks to a fractured finger sustained on the final day of the first Test.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/23777147/angelo-mathews-lahiru-gamage-sri-lanka-west-indies-tour

The pitch has juice for the pacers. Some balls are darting about. Resulting in unplayable deliveries.

Devon Smith and Powell got beautiful balls. The one that got Brathwaite got too much on him.

SL bowlers have been superbly disciplined.

Taskin used to be like this, until he lost it and start bowling short balls

He has developed back problems

The pitch has juice for the pacers. Some balls are darting about. Resulting in unplayable deliveries.

Devon Smith and Powell got beautiful balls. The one that got Brathwaite got too much on him.

SL bowlers have been superbly disciplined.

A good match this is shaping up to be. Batsmen have to dig in and fight in old-fashioned test cricket way.

Not expecting a 400 score, but could have got 250 of they played properly, they are now, excellent fight back, lot of balls on leg were not being clipped away yesterday early on

Aklemalp, please tell your WI team to whitewash BD. If we win the series, we may be stuck with the seniors and management till the next 4-5 years..

Go Windies!

Understand where you're coming from...but look at this from the situation Windies were in. When you're down four wickets for nothing, you tend to be more defensive, circumspect. This can be a disadvantage since scoring is stagnated. That's why they had to play the way the did.

It's human nature. When you are backed into a corner, you become defensive.

I'd give SL a 50-run lead. Anything over that is bonus. They do have the batting to get past the Windies score.

I wish I had that much direct connection with our boys (except for my childhood friend and former clubmate, Bishoo). Windies are giving us a new brand of test cricket. I wish we only play test cricket and scrap the other two.

Which seniors don't you think should be in the team and who would you replace them with?

Its not about replacement at this stage we need to give young players some time to even, to acclimatize to international conditions, and face top level teams.

If we lose matches with young guns such as Shanto, It will be better than losing matches with experienced heavy weights such as Tamim,Shak and Mushfiq.

Lets face this, there is no way the solid 5 will ever win us a WC. There time is coming very soon. And when it comes, we need their replacements to assimilate smoothly into international cricket.

Windies need to go for the kill here! Even though its a low score Lankans will have more difficulty batting in the final innings

So your idea is get battered with youngsters rather than be competitive with older players.... Mmm I wonder why we've never went with a all young team before... Ah wait we have, alas you didn't watch those games where young players were chewed out and burnt out from being thrown in their with lions to early

But I agree players like shanto should be given a chance, but not instead of the seniors, instead of younger players who are not performing and not showing the right attitude like Sabbir

How long has hope been keeping in tests? Thought he played as a specialist bat in tests. Dowrich also a keeper, though heard he’s not he best behind the stumps, guessing that’s why Shai is now keeping in the longer format?

Dowrich was injured. Hope is a specialist keeper in ODIS

He had to fill in for Dowrich during this test.

Shai is not our longer format keeper
