Bangladesh will need at least a draw in the Test series against West Indies starting on Friday to keep hold of the single point they earned in the ICC Test ratings.
After being on naught for long time Bangladesh had earned the solitary point thanks to a drawn match against Zimbabwe in the last series.
An ICC media release on Wednesday said a series whitewash against the Caribbeans will once again throw them into that embarrassing situation. However, if they can avoid at least one defeat, the point will remain as it is. Series draw will raise Bangladesh’s tally to four.
A series win, which is highly unlikely, will earn them seven points in the table. If Bangladesh can produce a miracle winning the series against the Caribbeans 2-0, they will get only nine points. Those impossible nine points will still keep Bangladesh 45 points adrift of their nearest rivals Zimbabwe who at the moment have 54 points.
On the other hand, West Indies will have to whitewash Bangladesh should they want to keep hold of the 80 points they now have on the table.
