There is long discussions about Rana's inclusion in the 2nd test 11. Lets have a poll to summerize our opinions.

We definitly need Rana. His bowling will definitly add more fire to BD bowling. Right now, he is one of the leading bowler of BD. Without him, BD can not dream to bowl the opponent out twice.

His batting is a bonus, which is very dependable too. I would prefer to take him instead of Tarek, but seeing Faisal's form, I have to go with dropping faisal.

Rana can bowl and bat and gives BD the 5th bowler option that I feel BD needed to wrap up the WI first innings.

I am always excited to see new blood in the BD camp and was hoping to see Razzak Raz play in the ODIs. Although Faisal Hossain performce in the first test feel just a little short of expectations, it is much too early to discount his talent as middle order batsman. Having said that, I feel that he does need to sit out the test to give him a chance to learn from his experiences and mentally prep for the next time he'll play in the international arena.

I don't think we have seen enough of Faisal to jump to conclusions yet.

I'd like to see Rana replacing Hannan and also opening the batting. He handled the likes of Heath Streak and Andy Blignaut successfully in the Zimbabwean tour. He shouldn't have much trouble adjusting to test opening in a seamer-friendly turf in Sabina Park. But I've to agree on Raj on the point that, without the services of Rana (or similar good spinner), I don't see us bowling the WI team out twice.

Let's drop Mashud or Rafique for Rana.

Rana creates an interestin dilemma. I'd go for dropping either Faisal or hannan for Rana. I would drop Faisal only if it was made clear that he was not dropped beacuse of performance. He has had only one test, and we cant evaluate him yet.

Rana's inclusion is very important if we are to bowl WI out twice - even on a fast pitch.

Here are my opinions on the topic coppied from a similar thread:

Most probably the firt test 12... even the playing 11 will be the same in the 2nd test.

as the team is doing nice as a whole... we can afford to giv Faisal another chance. I think he is promising! and he deserves another chance too.
that only means Rana has to stay out for atleast another match. this goes with the pitch condition also. Even though he is capable enough to make his place permanent in the team.

here is a grouping of our batting strength:

#Openers: Javed, Hannan
#Top order specialist batsmen:Ash, Rajin,Bashar, Faisal
#Mid order/Allrounders: Pilot, Rana, Mushfiq
#Late Order: Rafiq, Tareq, Tapash

its clear that Rana is an allrounder and not yet established as opener... and observing his batting technique it can also be said tht he might not suit as opener in long run.

I thik this grouping clarifies Rana's actual position and probably he cant be 'Traded' with someone from the other group!

The selection/preferance, at last, I suppose, comes from pitch/match conditions! and for now.. the existing combination (1st test) as a wohle is working great!
