I dont know why we elected to field. I think it would have been much better to put 250 on the board and put pressure on the WI batsmen. Anyway, dont want to start the series on a negative note. Lets hope our bowlers bowl well and keep things tight. GO BD!!

Monjurul starts off with a maiden to Gayle!! :)

3 over 3 runs. Good.

On the side note, did anyone got live BTV feed connected at homeviewbangladesh site? I can't get connected.

Bangladesh team:
Al Sahariar, Hannan Sarkar, Mohammad Ashraful, Habibul Bashar, Alok Kapali, *+Khaled Mashud, Naimur Rahman, Mohammad Rafique, Tapash Baisya, Manjural Islam, Sanwar Hossain.

It's beyond me but oh well we can't do anytthing about it, can we ? *sigh*

Why do i have folks talking bad about this guy ? He may not be the fastest but he is the anchor for the team. OK, he doesn't get wickets but look what he is doing out there.

Two maidens against West indies, hahahahah. Even India would be proud to have him in their team right now, khek. If Manju was playing against Bangladesh, he would have walked away with few wickets.

Knowing West indies bowling strenght, we needed more batsmen out there. Five bowlers and some out-of-form batsmen (Ash and Sumon) is not what we needed?

I still have a good feeling about it cause we are playing in Chatga.

10.3 Manjural Islam to Hinds, OUT: pitched up delivery on the off stump line, Hinds moves back and has a go at it, the ball hits the bottom of the bat and balloons up towards the long-off region, Hannan Sarkar get under it and holds on to it, Manjural Islam strikes!

West Indies 49/1, Partnership of 49
WW Hinds c Hannan Sarkar b Manjural Islam 30 (34b 5x4 0x6)
CH Gayle 13* (31b 2x4) Manjural Islam 5.3-2-23-1 (1w)

When I wrote my last post, I was thinking I SHOULDN'T cause if Manju gets beat up, some folks will point their fingers at me. Well guess what, Manju was hit four a 4 and 2 and I thought, I'm dead, Muahahahahahahah. Manju Strikes.

59 for 1 after 12 overs is a great start for Bangladesh. I hope they keep it up. So far, we haven't allowed Gayle to free his arms. Good stuff.

Monjurul has bowled 7 overs now for 27 runs and a wicket. Taposh is about to start his 7th over. Pilot ought to be thinking about a change. The one thing he is alway slow to do is change his bowlers around. I hope he will keep 3 overs from Monju and 3 from Taposh for the end.

Sham

Rafiq replaces Taposh. Good!

Good thing naimur doing good:

<^BDESH_WI> 22.6 Naimur Rahman to Sarwan, no run, defended leaning forward
<^BDESH_WI> End of over 23 (maiden) West Indies 97/2 (RR: 4.22)
<^BDESH_WI> Naimur Rahman 4-1-6-0 - Pedrollo End

We have few players in the team who are actually under pressure to perform or they get the axe. Durjoy being number one and Rafique to follow. Could it be that they have learnt from time off the field ?

Tehsin
November 28, 2002, 11:57 PM
Rafique is on his 8th over. Who can we use now ? Remember this, if we let them go loose once, they will make the bets of it.

Our options are Ash, Kapali and Sanwar. Who can keep up the pressure ? I am thinking Ash because of his recent form.

Sham

Pilot has replaced Rafiq with Ash from the Ispahani end! Lets hope you are right Tehsin bhai.

Nasif
November 29, 2002, 12:02 AM
ash is in. Good bowling by Rafiq and Naimur. Last boundary was way back in 17th over.

Sham
November 29, 2002, 12:05 AM
Yeah, great stuff so far. The WI will have to score almost at 7 to post 250! If we keep things tight, we should restrict them within 230.

We need to change the little guy, does not look like this is his day. Let's try out Sanwar/Kapali for a over and see if that works out for us.

Finally got connected to live btv from hvb.

Containment is necessary, but wickets are also important...especially Sarwan's. He has to go before 40 th.

Nasif
November 29, 2002, 12:20 AM
ash got a wicket

Arnab
November 29, 2002, 12:24 AM
Damn....looks like it happened right when I was typing. I feel powerful.

Tehsin

Sham
November 29, 2002, 12:24 AM
This is great!! 142 for 4.

Arnab
November 29, 2002, 12:27 AM
Wow...15 overs without a boundary. When did THAT happen before?

Nasif
November 29, 2002, 12:29 AM
There's been a 4 right now :(

Sham
November 29, 2002, 12:37 AM
Why is Ash getting a sixth over after giving away 9 runs in the 5th. Come on Pilot!!

Nasif
November 29, 2002, 12:39 AM
Ash almost got another wicket. Pilot missed stumping chance. He couldn't hold on to the ball.

Ash is doing good.

Nasif
November 29, 2002, 12:45 AM
Last 10 overs, sixes and fours flowing everywhere...

Sham
November 29, 2002, 12:51 AM
Ash is getting clobbered!. He should have been taken off a while back.

Tehsin
November 29, 2002, 12:56 AM
Not bad. I agree with Sham, Ash bowles two overs too many. Bringing in Manju was also interesting. I would not have gone for that. we need wickets or the next 4/5 overs will be nightmarish.

rafiq
November 29, 2002, 01:00 AM
just joined in after turkey festivities and a little james bond action...

kapali just got a wicket... looks like BD might be able to make a go after it unless we have a total top order collapse again - but more time for that later

Tehsin
November 29, 2002, 01:03 AM
how was Bond ?

Powell needs to go or we'd be looking at 260-280.

rafiq
November 29, 2002, 01:08 AM
bond was great as usual. halle barry was better... see dr. no before to appreciate the nuances fully - lot of references to that first one

what just happened in the lasst over by kapali - 19 runs? crickinfo is all jammed up, this sucks

rafiq
November 29, 2002, 01:13 AM
who bowled it - wisden says ashraful got the wicket, circkinfo says kapali is bowling it

Sham
November 29, 2002, 01:13 AM
I just have to say this: WHAT IS F******G wrong with Pilot?? Kapali gives 19 runs, and gets another over?? Just got hit for 6 off the first ball. Whats wrong with Baisya? Why has a frontline bowler bowled 6 overs and Ashraful and Kapali bowled 14 between them. Anyway, as I write this, another 6 and a 4, 17 off the first four balls. Sheer madness!!

Tehsin
November 29, 2002, 01:13 AM
This is just horrible.

We need two captains out there. Pilot stays as the team captain BUT we need someone who can rotate the bowlers. What is the point of Bowling Kapali after the 19run over ? Whatever chance we had is now lost.

By the way, how bad do you have to bowl to get clobbered like this ?

Tehsin
November 29, 2002, 01:16 AM
he comes in and guess what, no runs off the first two balls. *sigh*

Third one was dropped ? YIKES.
