Habibul Bashar has scored so many runs by playing pull and hook shots particularly in test mathces. As a captain, Habibul Bashar should give the tips to other batsmen about playing pool and hook shots like him. Ashraful can follow Bashar's batting style because he is also a good puller and huker. Ashraful should wait for the ball always to play pull and hook shots like Bashar. If Bashar can score so many runs in his carrier and for his team then other batsmen could have runs from those strokes. As a left hander Rana can follow the Bashar style in the openning position. It will be nice to see him as a pinch hitter like Jayasurya or Hayden in the openning position. Rana can follow the style of playing pool, cut and hook shots like Bashar and some big hits like Rafique. :fanflag:

Yes, Pull and Hook are his bread and butter shots. He also dies by the same sword. At least he does something very well. Same can't be said about our other batsmen. If Bashar had a better all around range of shots, he would be even better. I, personally think that Ash has better range than Bashar, but unless and until he harnesses that into production, he would remain sporadic just as he is now. But, their is no denying the fact we need another batsmen or two like Bashar in our middle. Rajin is consistent, determined, stays at the wkt but his contribution in terms of runs after facing so many balls is not upto the mark. But atleast he has the job half done. Developing a few more scoring shots will be good for him and us. But no3-5 is the least of our problem now. Our opening issues in both form of cricket is really the key now. How many century partnerships we have in the opening position? zero or one? peanuts. Bashar has to hit his way out of trouble very early in the innings. It works sometimes and when it doesn't we are usually struggling with a score of 30's for 3 wkts. Something must give. I think its time to bring in at least new opener into the fold. Hannan will take time to recover from this debacle, Omar has obvious limitations and on his way to oblivion and Biddut has fitness problem. He can still play when he is not hurt though. In ODI's you can get away with rana/kapali but in tests you need two specialist openers who has mettle. Time to bring in either Nafis or Anisul Hakim and stick with them for a while. They will go through hard times probably but thats not an unfamiliar situation for us anyway. But, they have upside and we should bank on that. If they have the stuff, like everyone says they do, then go with them. What do we have to lose?

Every batsman is different and has his own style of batting.
I wonder if special skills of one batsman can be simply 'injected' in other..
I doubt that.

Considering the way Bashar plays those pulls and hooks, I'd rather suggest the others not to follow him.

Well I agree with crickethorizon: every batsman has a unique style - you shouldn't be following anyone unless you're a 7 year old watching Viv Richards on TV.

Bahsar's style is not great, he's got bravery. We need a balance of both of those qualities in the others. Personally, I would not mind at all having 5 more like him in the team. That, actually will be the dream team for us.:)

After 1/2 years Ashraful And Rajin should capable to bat like Habibul because their temperment and good selection of shot and Nafis also do the same but have 2 give them more time and training.Rajin and Ashraful already show their good performence now time come for Nafis and our another left handed batsman Rana.
