Hello all,
Ashraful didn't show the consistence in openning position. I do not agree with Whatmore to send him for innings open for experiment. If this time Ashraful fail in the openning position then Whatmore will be a failure to show his profession. It was ok to send him as an openner in the 25 over match in against WI. But he has to play the regular openning batsmen or he can choose Rana as a openner in ODI match. I don't wanna see Bd team and Whatmore both are failure against any kind of opposition particulerly against Hong Kong.
Thanks.

I don't like the idea either, but that doesn't mean, by any means, the failure of whatmore.
first of all, the sentense "ash did not show consistency" is wrong. he simply never succeeded.
before you tell it is whatmore's failure, you need to consider few points:
* what choices he has: hannan, bidyut, nafis and javed as regular and rana, alok and ash as make shift. out of this 6 list hannan, bidyut are out of question. i'd like to see nafis being tried. but don't know about him really. i'm not following his performance and do'nt know if he showed anything lately to be in the team. so, we're lef with rana, javed, alok and ash. they are all in the team and who knows ash might click too. i've no doubt about one thing: he knows better cricket than all of us.
* one decision by whatmore brought sri lanka world cup. creating a make shift opening pair of jaysuria-kaluivitharana (sp). who knows he might have seen something in ash too.
* ash has talent to be a opener. the only problem is, he might not have the confident and need to grow up more (mentally) before he can be a opener. there is two optionsh here. let him be matured in middle order and then bring to opening or bring him in opening knowing that he'll fail but will be created for the future. the first option has less risk, but less chance for ash, the second one is opposit more risk but better chance.
* whatmore is looking for a opener. he tryed with alok and probably gave up. he'll try with ash a bit more too. and will keep doing it until he finds one good combination. the question of failure doesn't come until he ends this process.

I would let Javed and Faisal open in ODI.
I know Faisal would be a good ODI opener. I will keep Ash in #5. Pretty soon they will believe me.

well it's worth giving it a shot actually...if guys like al shariar get so many chances, being professional openers, then i think that ash should be given a couple of more chances before bringing him back down; we have nothing to lose.

Well….I reckon Ash just might take Hong Kong to the cleaners if we bat first against them…..We’ll just have to wait and see what happens..But I’m very pleased with the selection of Javed Omar. He is more than likely to hold one end up and prevent the ever familiar collapse in the top order.

I hope the Tigers play some quality competitive practice matches as part of our preparations. Nothing beats real match conditions. Kapali will need as much time in the middle as possible along with Mushfique, Omar and Ash.
