View Full Version : Ehsanul in for Hannan

Sham
December 2, 2002, 01:12 AM
Daily Star claims that Ehsanul will replace Hannan at the top of the order as the only change for the second ODI. I thought Tushar would have been a better choice in the middle order with Ash moving up to open, but I am pretty happy with this change.

Monju starts off with a maiden again after WI chposes to bat.

Sham

Baisya strikes with the 4th ball of his first over. Hinds gone LBW for nought. Windies 0 for 1. :)

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 02:43 AM
still don't know why talha could not be selected instead of one of the spinners - say rafiqul. 0/1 sounds real good

owaao!!!
3 overs - no runs for one wkt!!!
Is this Bangladesh????

rafiq

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 02:45 AM
looks like pacers are getting some support from the wkt
Shouldn't we have Talha in the team too

Sham
December 2, 2002, 03:13 AM
Yes, we should definitely have had another fast bowler on this pitch. This is stupidity to play so many spinners on such an uneven pitch.

Sham
December 2, 2002, 03:14 AM
WI are 28 for 1 after 10. Good start by BD again.

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 03:19 AM
ball are keeping very low....
Its could cause some more LBWs

11.6 Tapash Baisya to Samuels, no run, A shocker! This one doesn't
bounce at all! What a pitch at Dhaka for an international game,
Samuels struggles to get some bat on it

WI is two down

Sham
December 2, 2002, 03:22 AM
Monju takes a wicket. WI 37 for 2. Caught behind this time.

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 03:27 AM
All the soccer matches ruined the pitch at BNS. Our batsmen probably will face the similar difficulty while batting - balls getting low...

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 03:29 AM
New bowler is Ehsanul Haque. Is he a all rounder!!!!??? Didn't know that.

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 03:32 AM
Pilot is probably missing Talha and also may be Sujon.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 03:32 AM
someone at crickinfo must be smokin something - ehsanul haque as first chage bowler?

i still can't get over the spinner overload, it's really bothering me that they would not want to play a rapidly improving talha jubair.

Success finally my messages get thru

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 03:39 AM
15.4 Ehsanul Haque to Samuels, no run, can't blame the batsmen, this is
such a poor pitch to bat on, ball keeping low again, defended

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 03:43 AM
what?? Monju is doing his 9th!!!
What Pilot has in his mind ..finishing the innings with Ash???

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 03:43 AM
don't remember tuning in for a game where the commentators have whined/complained this much about the bns pitch. is it especially bad this time - it always was a batting pitch. sounds like our batsmen will have an equally tough time.

manjurul bowls 9 overs straight. ehsanul is the first change bowler (probably because there is no third pacer).

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 03:50 AM
who will bowl next Rokon or Sumon??

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 03:51 AM
neither, it will be either pilot or aliul

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 03:56 AM
manju bowls 10 straight incl one after drinks.

doesn't the coach "coach" bowling changes. isn't there a "bowling changes for dummies" book that one can send pilot? seems like anyone can bowl pretty well on this pitch, so manju could go for another 10 overs without getting hammered if they would let him.

even khaled mahmud would have been able to get more done today.

Sham
December 2, 2002, 03:59 AM
Ehsanul isn't doing too bad actually with his little medium pacers. He just has to put it in line and the pitch will do the rest. Monju bowled his 10 overs straight for 22, excellent figures. But again, Pilot is taking a huge gamble by bowling him out straight. Maybe he wanted to keep the pressure on the WI batsmen, but I would have kept a couple of overs for the end.

James90

*drumroll*

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 04:11 AM
if in the improbable event that we win this, they don't complain that the pitch was tampered with or something like that

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 04:13 AM
What ? One of the worst (after the ones in West Indies vs some other team last year ?) pitch ever ? feels like it. Dhur, when I opened up cricinfo, I thought WHOA, 58 for 2 after 21. Goes to show how the WI batsmen matured after India tour (PS, they are not facing any real fasties here). We would have been all out for 21.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 04:18 AM
even after such a terrific start by bangladesh, you almost know WI will find a way to hit themselves to 250 before it is over.

bd_cricket
December 2, 2002, 04:19 AM
Durjoy looks very expensive so far.....

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 04:23 AM
and of course, Rafiq bhai's "bowling changes for dummies" need to be shipped directly to the selector's and Pilot. Also, they both could use the "speech writing for dummies" series.
Coach Kamal probably need the chapter updates ("field test the wicket" and "brace your pace" - didn't anyone even try to bowl on the wicket before the match started to see how it reacts ?) for his "coaching for dummies" handbook. I saw him putting it down after the first match, looks like he might have to start reading again.

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 04:27 AM
Unless he gets lucky and one of the awkward bounces get a nick, looks like Sham's observation on Durjoy's 'comeback performance' may stick. In case you missed it - Sham pointed out that Poweel would have whacked him just like the others. Fortunately for Morx, his overs were over before Powell got in the mood.

That's the last I'll write on Morx until he takes a wicket or something.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 04:30 AM
let's see, when one spinner doesn't work then what could we do? hmm... how about...try another spinner! we have so many!! but no, we should bowl naimur 10 straight - he will eventually get in sync and the dummies book they have been reading so far said "when a bowler has good figures in the first odi of a 3 match series, bowl him 10 straight in the second odi"

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 04:35 AM
Rafiq bhai, I have a feeling you are almost half way through the next dummy series. Fortunately for you, by the time this is over, you'll have enough to fill volumes.

By the way, is the ball starting to rise up ? If I were this spinners (with their experience and talent) I'd take full advantage of the wickets. If we're gonna get blamed anyways, why not milk it ?

Sham
December 2, 2002, 04:35 AM
Durjoy shouldn't even be in the team. Sure he had the best figures in Chittagong, but when the selectors saw the wicket this morning, how could they not opt for Talha instead of Durjoy? Talha, with his relatively lively pace, would have done well on this uneven pitch. Durjoy on the other hand has given away 24 in 4 overs.

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 04:39 AM
Now that the IWndies have recovered from the shock of being put into bat in such wicket, they are aiming for big ones.

8 wickets in hand, 20 overs left, two warmed up nats against a host of relatively toothless spinners. 250 is actually not a bad estimate. Now, if we had Talha in the opening, it could have been 4 for 80 or whatever but why get Talha when we could hand Ehsan the shiny red ball ?

Sham
December 2, 2002, 04:44 AM
You are right. Samuels and Sarwan are scoring freely now. They will get near 250 I think unless we can get two or three quick wickets here.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 04:48 AM
aliul:

"pilot, go see the wicket"

pilot:

"na, jamu na, tui ja"

aliul:

"if you don't go i am going to make a statement to the press"

pilot:

"well, it doesn't say here in this dummies book that we need to look at the wicket, besides the sun is shining, what else do you want"

aliul:

"are shala, that's the old version. banglacricket.com is yet to ship the new version with updated strategies for bowling changes. our credit card didn't go through. for the last time, go out there and have someone bowl a ball or two"

pilot:

"kichutei jamu na. we announced the team yesterday, who cares what the wicket is like. rokon is playing well and i am thinking of selling my baridhara flat to him. so he must play. other than that, we have enough spinners to trap spiderman. door hoye ja amar shamne theke..."

Finally, something to laugh about (since I came in, it's been pain and agony).
Good one rafiq bhai.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 05:00 AM
no matter how we start or what road we take, how do we end up in the same place?

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:03 AM
hate to say this, I saw 58 for 2 when I came in and I saw a score of 250 on the horizon to begin with. Looks like I have to go back and kick myself for being so darn close again. *sigh*

(I expected 230-240 in the last match but you saw where that took us)

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 05:08 AM
hey you can't take credit for the 250 prediction, go back in the posts!

are there any fielders on the field or are they in the VIP gallery with the ladies? did ashraful make himself unavailable to bowl ?

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:09 AM
At least this will defuse the EGO TRIP some of the players and officials have been having after the first match. One 'no result' match and it was funny to see them all scrambling to take the credit for it instead of focusing on the wicket/match today. Even the BAD pitch didn't hold. Amader bhaggotai emon.

All the good work is wasted.

yeah and guess who's bowling to him - ehsanul, who strikes fear in the heart of batsmen around the world.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 05:17 AM
at the end of 40 overs. let's up the target to 280

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:17 AM
| 2 1 . B1 1 . | from Ehsanul Haque Seezan

TAKE THAT YOU (Rafiq) DOUBTER. :)
Durjoy gets the credit for this one, Powell just got in so instead of 15 runs, it's 5 off of thisover.

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:19 AM
Morx looks like he is focusing after the beating in the first couple of overs.

Why not 300 ?
Last match, 101 or 111 runs in 10 overs ?

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:21 AM
Powell needed a LIFE, he got it. Awesome.

(On Ehsan's defense, the guy hardly bowls, he won't have any idea what to do with a canon ball coming his way. If it was me, I would have ducked)

41.2 Ehsanul Haque to Powell, one run, dropped! smashed back to the
bowler, was a powerfull hit, the ball goes to the on side and the
batsmen cross over

Ehsanul Haque seems to be in trouble the magic spray is out

"There goes the opener?"

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:26 AM
138 for 1, 20 overs ..... :)

Ehsanul is still bowling. What happend to Ash ? Could it be that Pilot is actually reading the "coaching for dummies" ?

thanks to Homeviewbangladesh live BTV. I heard the rattle of the stumps :D

jokes aside, the bowling strategy is either in disarray or i am just not getting it. they may play naimur and ehsanul until they are done with their 10 overs. at this point, rafique, tapash and ashraful could have come on.

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:32 AM
Does this mean Ehsanul will make the team as a bowler in the next match ? Why, he could be our next BIG all-rounder.

(kidding - in case if you were wondering if I've gone nuts)

AGAIN, Rafiq bhai - take that you doubter.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 05:33 AM
well, ehsanul just deflected more criticism from pilot after that well deserved wicket

Tehsin
December 2, 2002, 05:39 AM
47 - Rafique
48 - Taposh
49 - Rafique
50 - Taposh

I was wondering if he'd save Ehsanul for either 48/49 but guess not. Sujon and Talha could have done wonders for us today. Specially Talha.

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 05:45 AM
after using ashraful in the slog overs in game one, pilot doesn't use him at all in this game. looks like they are going to go past 250 easy. wish i had that btv feed - is the ball still pretty low?

rafiq
December 2, 2002, 05:58 AM
he can pobably stay at sarwan's house next time he in the islands. good night all, or good morning whatever it is

bd_cricket

Rokon & Sumon golden ducks
Pilot for only 1.

Aliul will definitely punish Rokon & Sumon in the next match.....

December 2, 2002, 09:25 AM
Cricinfo has corrected their mistake - pilot is still batting. It was kapali out
