Hypothethical Example: Rafiq bowls left handed off break but a right handed batsman sees it as a regular leg break. If he bowls chinaman it would be seen by a right handed batsman as a regular off break. BTW, Rafiq is SLA not SLC.

I went for meeting after Bangladesh's innings.
Came back just now, and found we have won!!!!!!!!
A win with a big margin!

India also not having too much run on other match.
May be it's because of pitch or the opponent are doing so good in both matches.

But surely, we should improve our score next time.
Otherwise we will be gone soon.

no matter what we do...these "journalists"
will say that other opponent would have
won if they have "experience".

I guess I myself trained them well...lolz

I would request my friends over here
especially some of our writers to response to this type of injustice with
their pens.

What's wrong with middle order got out
"gliding" the ball ...they gota be
careful playing against Pakistan.

Man of the Match: Javed Omar.
Beginning of this game we criticized Omar a lot, but he did better than any one else.

Congrats to our team and all our fans…!..Its a pretty decent effort….After scoring 221/9 I did say that it was a pretty good score on this pitch and it will be impossible for Hong Kong to score more than 120 against us..(See page:22)…And many of u thought I was nuts..!!!!...Well..I understand most of u are not really watching the match live unlike me…..Therefore u guys weren’t aware of the dicey nature of the pitch….And by the way…ppl….The last wicket indeed was taken by Rafique and in his 11th over !!!!!!!....I don’t know how…but it happened…..Probably will go down in the history of ODIs….Well…who cares …we won and won convincingly and I guess that’s wot matters at the end of the day….

Shehwar Bhai,

If you are out in Sri Lanka, can you tell our boys when they go in to bat can they play with a straight bat to get in, then they can play with angle bats.

Batsmen must try and be patient when they first go into bat.

Well done BD anyway.!!!
Same against pakistan will do nicely!!!

Anyhow, a win is a win - even an unconvincing one. Even though 221 was more than enough, we still need to make massive improvements in batting.

Bowling has turned out to be our pride and joy. Lets hope we keep batting first and putting up decent totals throughout this tournament.

Yeah Bro..I agree..almost all our batsmen tried to play too many shots square of the wicket early on, which brought about their downfall…Unfortunately I’m not in Srilanka…I was referring to the TV set when I said I was watching the match live…Fortunately we have a very able coach in Whatmore and I’m sure he’ll let the boyz know where exactly they went wrong…Lets hope for the best for tomorrow…Take care bro..

Well, once again. the batting was disappointing. However, the bowling was awesome, and all's well that ends well. We have a 116 run victory under our belts and should use this to our advantage in the next match.

I'm very happy for this win, but the following figures do not look great at all. This is the old batting history again and again.
Ashraful 9
*Habibul 32
Rajin 10
Alok 2
Mushfiqur 18

If they imporve this figure in the next game against paki, than the result will be in our favour.

Never before have I seen so much praise heaped on a team that just lost by 116 runs. I mean, I understand they deserve some credit given their first ODI and all - but c'mon - how many players in that team were chinese ? they are ALL HIRED PLAYERS from India and Pakistan, for crying out loud !!!!

India won by 116 runs against UAE. India (the Elite??) does not look very impressive this time and BD (tigers) has very good chance to get a win, especially considering elite’s eir weak bowling.

dont be surprised...its very simple...

The indians clearly hav a very odd way of trying to demoralize the opponents (and they hav special dislikes for Bd-they already proved that) through media invation.. its their national sports policy i strongly think!..
so its simple again:
'praise HK to demoralize BD!!'

why dont we stop looking into indian sites n comments completely?
indians deserve the ignorance!.. they've earned it!

I was quite sure that our boys going to make it. It wasn’t free flowing game from my perspective; nevertheless we managed to score 221. It was a decent score. Hong Kong bowling was tight; most of bowlers bowl with real accuracy. Anyway, our bowlers showed once more that they are new force to reckon with. I would put all my money with our bowlers than our batsmen any day.

One last thing, congratulation to Razzaq; he could be our next best thing. :bravo:

Cricinfo

It's very true that crickinfo led by Indians have something against BD. For some reason they can't tolerate or absorb the success of Bangladesh. I am not saying that Indians are against Bangladeshis but some reporters in cricinfo are from different planet.

TV Commentry

TV commentors were more or less unbiased but Vinod Kambli and Maninder Singh was awfull and unprofessional. They said everything asaingt BD. Here are some of the excerpts (as far as I remember)

1. BD batsmen have to learn how to score in other part of field rather than just trying nudge the ball in the 3rd man area or square of the wicket.

2. BD is awarded Test Status at least 4 years earlier than it should be. The BD team is not yet ready for Test arena.

3. While BD was batting they never said that BD could win the match all they said was, This is HK's day.. we are looking at an upset today.

4. BD tumbles underpressure even againstthe minnows.

bla bla bla.........

What can we do

1. Write consrtuctive contents about our team

2. Try to contribute in all cricket websites

3. Defend our team's performance by comparing Historical performance of India and New Zealand

4. Most of all our team has to show improvement in the field, which they all ready are doing and beat Ind or Pak in the Asia Cup.

Hope for the best. Bangladeshis let's work together and fight against this abuse ****

Gentlmen! what an effort! Mashallah! Bravo! We must realise what incredible amount of pressure the Tigers were under. They had to win the match. They were well aware of their previous inglorious defeats to minnows (some of the players from that era are still very much in the team). They wanted to win this match so badly. On top of that this wicket was pretty hard to bat on in the first up because of the juice left in the wicket from early passing showers. ON again on top of that, HK to their immense credit, made an astonishingly confident and assured debut (may be they don't have 150 million people's hopes on their shoulders). 221/9 by the Tigers under the circumstances wasnot all that bad particularly if one got to see the innings live!

Certain points in the match that come to mind:

* Kapali's LBW- That was NOT AN LBW in a million years! Poor guy! He really needs some luck!

* Razzak's debut- Well! Well! How many of our players have made a successful debut in a match that we won?! I think this may be some sort of record.

* I found Indian TV commentators at times sharply critical of Bangladesh (in contrast to some of the non-Indian commentators like Pat Symcox)!!?! May be they wanted to show solidarity with HK with their Indian coach Robin Singh!

Tigers completely outclassed Hong Kong.
Hong Kong did very well for a match which was their ODI debut. Best of luck to them in their future endeavors. I hope hear about them progressing along the ransk in International cricket pretty soon.

This is what Crininfo Staff writer started in his article;

"Nearly. Oh-so-nearly. Hong Kong could have won this, their first game in senior international cricket. They lost by 116 runs in the end, but for a while they played as if they were favourites,"

Oh so nearly? How come 116 run defeats is considered oh so nearly??????

I dont hear them saying the same about UAE who also lost by 116 runs. This is sickening.

Go slow bro...There are certain Indian cricket lovers here who won't like anything against them cuz they are mighty large in numbers...That is what they claim anywayz....Even if we are absolutely right in our comments we cannot say anything against India..!..Our msg even might be moderated one threatebed...Phew..!...Tc bro

Let me tell beforehand that though I am little biased towards India, I don't have any love for Cricinfo :)

Re the cricinfo piece that you have quoted, you have to also consider that the author need not share the same point of view with us. Right after the 'nearly, oh nearly' that you have quoted comes the description

until Bangladesh got their act together in the second half and cut them down to size. The target of 222 was just too much for Hong Kong, and though their batsmen stayed in for long periods, no-one could score quickly enough to make a difference. Bangladesh's bowling - nippy, accurate, incisive - never let anyone settle.

which together does sum up the match. Bangladesh cut Hongkong up in the second half of the match, but while it was never 'near', HK did give us a scare in the first half while we were around 150. If you don't believe me, look at these links to see how the general feeling was at the time :

Link1 (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/viewthread.php?tid=6436&page=16) Link2 (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/viewthread.php?tid=6436&page=17)

Secondly, Hong Kong is a very junior team when compared to us. We don't have anything to lose just because someone wrote encouragingly about them. Four or five years ago when we were in the position of HK, playing the senior teams for the first time, this is the sort of encouraging words that we would have liked them to write about us even when we were losing. It is just that the roles have changed.
