Ok people its time for us to ponder about the playing XI for the next match. Apparently the current team has a few flaws and lets see if we can iron them out.

Javed
Faisal
Habib
Saleh
Mashud
Ashraful
Kapali
Mushfique
Rafique
Tapash
Razzak

12th man - Mahmoud

Ok..... The line up above is quite unusual i agree but i think in order to get a winning team, we need changes!

I put forward my XI in another thread - Wednesday's game. It's the same as yours except Mahmud stays and Rajin goes out - the reasons for which I have also explained. Rana would come in if Javed is not fit.

I note you are also going for a left-right combination at the top.

I hope this opinion catches on !

I would not leave out Sujon yet as I am more pleased about his bowling these days. It was pretty tight. Same team as today and maybe faisal coming in to replace kaps or mushy.

Does anyone know who we are playing next ? Is it SL or IND ?

I am sorry Chacha’ time is up! He needs a break for the next match!

Rajin needs a time off as well!

Anyway, who should replace who?

Faisl for Rajin

Either Azis or rana for Chacha

i really don't know. to me, all of them seem equally hopeless when it comes to performing with the bat.

i am dissappointed by the BD-Pak match but this is a normal part of the game...we should play the next three games closer.

anyways i thought ashraful would make a good opener but now i am convinced that ashraful is best in the middle of the order...he is a genius at playing spin.

here is my team:

1. Javed (he has proved us wrong)
2. Rana or maybe Faisal
3. Bashar
4. Rajin
5. Ashraful
6. Alok or maybe Rana/Faisal
7. Mushfiqur
8. Mashud
9. Rarique
10. Razzaq
11. Tapash

i really think that rana and/or faisal should play. hopefully both and drop alok...rana can help our bowling as well...razzaq has been impressive so far.

All right.7 batsmen 4 specialist bowlers. This has been a strategy used by india and which has proved very succesfull over the long run.One main reason for India to have used this is to give some depth to their batting line up.With the constant of Bangladeshi top order batsmen such a strategy would not be bad at all.Th eonly criticism may be about the fifth bowler.Well except for the for specialist bowlers we have got a bowler who has had a test hatrick in his career (alok kapali). Admited that he is erratic but he may not need to bowl 10 complete overs with bowlers such as saleh, ash and faisal (medium) chipping in with an over or two. Also with such a line up a left and right hand batting combination can be achieved at the top of the order. personally I would prefer to see ash opening after another 3 or 4 years. By that time his shot selection will become better and by batting cureently in the middle order he would learn to take the ones and twos which is a major weakness for most of our openers. Saleh would give stability in the top order and Mashud has proved that he is probably Bangladesh's best batsman when it comes to rotating the strike. Bangldesh do need him in the middle overs as others are unable to do it with the ease of mashud.Kapali and Ash may come in with 20 odd overs to spare and give the team accelaration that they usually miss.:fanflag:

I know Rajin is technically most sound BD batsman. Just want to give him a break to see how good (!) this 11 is. Batting seems bit weak but if allrounders play to their potential this team would not do any worse than the current 11.

I don't think there will be any wholesale changes to the team for the next match. If there is a change, my guess is, Rana may come in for Chacha.

I don't know what's on Dav's mind, but Faisal is the in form batsmen and eager to prove himself. I would like to see rana in and also Faisal gets a good run of matches instead ofcouple of chances here and there.

If Chaha has to drop then Tareque will come in. Do not think BD should play without three pacers.

fine, i'll kick him out, but who's gonna open the bowling? chacha? are u sure that will not be too much of a risk to take? i guess we still need mushfiq. just that he needs to improve his batting. the real waste of space is kapali.

and don't understand this. is asia cup (or any other match) a place for kapali's treatment at the first place or a compitition at the first place? we are literalily giving up chance of compitition in order to trying to get kapali's form back.

or manju opening and habibul at 4. But most of the team is struggling so it doesnt matter really who we pick or where they play, its the same problem, these players simply have a lack of technique and we just have to make do the best we can.

I did some research on cricinfo. Rajin is best at 3. Habibul has done ok opening except he got runout once for a low score, otherwise 4 is easily his best position. Ash isnt good anywhere, but i dont think opening is his go, everytime he does well is the middle he gets put up the top and it just ruins him. Alok is better lower. Maybe Faisal deserves a go cos none of the others score, but really i dont think he will do any better.

Whats wrong with Tarek opening with Taposh. I think they are our best new ball bowlers at the nmoment. What has everyone got against tarek?

Hello guys,
If Javed and Raj can't play the next match then I would like to see Bashar is facing the new ball as a stroke maker and experienced player. my best XI team is:

1)Habibul Bashar
2)Manjurul Islam Rana
3)Rajin Saleh/Faisal Hossain
4)Faisal Hossain/Rajin Saleh
5)Mohammad Ashraful
6)Alok Kapali
7)Mushfique Babu

including tareq means getting rid of a bowler who can bat a bit too. which, needless to say, tareq can't. tareq's bowling is nothing exceptional and more or less equal to chacha or mushfiq. but his batting is not for odi. and that is the reason tareq is not considered by me. our batting order is already too short. there is no point of cutting if off.

Seeing most of you being so reluctant to give Ash more time to settle down at the top, feeling kinda tempting to extend my support for the poor fella. I don't think its wise to make changes just for the sake of change.

And just because Bashar frequently has to bat very early on it doesn't make him an opener. Faisal has been known to be a middle order batsman (as far as I know of). How could possibly he be a contender for the top slot is beyond me. Playing at the highest professional level requires a professional attitude and approach. And calling for or bring upon uncalled for changes every now and then in the hope of a surprise success are anything but professional in my humble opinion.

Habibul Bashar

Faisal Hossain

I second chinaman bhai's selection. This is our strongest XI under the circumstances.

Rana is an excellent spinner and should replace Razzak quite effectively.

We should bat if we win the toss. We have three bowling allrounders. Rana, Rafique and Mushfique (Shujon doesn't seem to fall into category these days). I would rather all of them bat when they are fresh than after putting in their 10 over quota on the field.

According to the July 20 Daily Star, we can keep Razzak at least until the end of Asia Cup. Javed worries me - he can be replaced by Rana. I think Faisal should be given a chance in place of Shujon. I would also move Ashraful down the order. Our realistic expections should be 225+ runs and tight bowling and fielding, and lose with respect. Taken any of our batsmen, we lack techniques. Only way we can win is if three of our 6 batsmen score 50+. Right now it is only 2 of them that are able to score 100 runs. Our improvement is that we score 150+ with a test-level team instead of previous 100+.

I think this is mostly likely the team that we will see

MD. Ash
MI Rana
H Bashar
R Saleh
A Kapali
F Hossain
M Rahman
K Mashud
MD. Rafique
T Baisya
A Razzak

Since Rana is coming into the team we will have one extra spinner which makes chacha place redundant. Granted chacha has been economical and taken a couple of wickets. Surely Rana can do at least the same if not better. The wicket as we know is taking a lot of turn too. This opens up space for a further batsman. So faisal will get his chance.
I am worried about our opening pair. Whatmore will probably persist with Ash. I just hope this left-right pair can hit it off on wednesday. India will be as tough as it gets. They haven't had the best tournament and will be looking to prove a point. We should also come out fighting with the belief that we can win. Otherwise there is no point in competing. We are a test nation after all.

It's India's batting against ours. I hope they don't bat first and blow us out. The other bad scenario, is as always, if our top order batting fails. Anything else, might make a good match.

I know it won't happen so soon, but before every match I always think that there is a remote possibility that we might, just might, win. If it does not happen this time, I will wait for the next match, or the next one, or the next one .....
