I know its not fair to comment without knowing all the factors but I'm not really happy about Enam's bowling rotation. Perhaps he saw something in the pitch but still failed to make good of it.

Looks like we are a bowler short. With poor rotation it looks even shorter. At times the bowlers were able to squeeze the batsment. But they failed to maintain the pressure and let the batsmen cut loose.

Are there any dropped catches? Is Nadif bowling pace or SLA? Yestarday the medium pacers found a way to rule over the batsmen. Today we are trying to dominate with spin without much luck. Why not we try their trick? I don't know. We had a very promising morning. But this second session, out attack looks aimless. And they are banking on it.

the coach is there to supervise bowling rotation. i dont understand why our coaches just let the captains take charge and let them lose? it is not necessary to watch the game live, sometimes it is very obvious that the captaiins are making very poor bowling choices, specially in the senior team. the coach must guide the captain and help him plan well.

This is absurd. This just hints how much knowledge the posters around here have about cricket in general. The whole purpose of having a captain is to make decisions while on the field, coaches can give suggestions, but the final decision always comes from the captain.

And what's with this, oh the team sucks, it's captaisn's fault, it's coaches fault, they don't know how to bowl, they don't know how to bat; everytime the team performs bad you forget all the good performance before. Hell even the Indians, and pakistanis don't perform as consistently as you expect the bangladeshis to perform. It's easy to point out faults than to do it yourself.

Cheers.

You seem to have watched a lot of cricket but did not see how captaincy can make a world of difference. Have you seen Pakistan winning the world cup with an average team led by Imran's superior captaincy? Or you just watching cricket in general and thinking it is a game of just bat and ball. With your knowledge with just bat and ball dont expect to be on top in the first class matches.

Have you ever watched baseball in your life? Not to say that they are same game, but rotation in bowling change does make a difference. I have seen this with Aussies and Indian captains doing it like the way it should be. Ganguly showed some class in the ASIA cup. Not blaming this and that here, this is simply my opion that our captaincy can be more prudent.

And one more thing, BD is playing test cricket now for 4 years. From a top 10 team in the world fans expect some firepower, some magic, some serious contest. For once in a while is it too much to ask?

If you expect them to be inconsistent on a consistent basis then it is YOUR problem. watch some baseball and then see how prudency works (comparing prudency here, not the game) peace.

Bangladesh U-19 273 and 13 for 1 trail England U-19 396 (Hildreth 210) by 110 runs

James Hildreth blasted a stunning double-century, and the wicketkeeper, Steven Davies, chipped in with a vital 71, as England's Under-19 cricketers hauled themselves out of a considerable hole in the second Test against Bangladesh at Taunton.

By the close of the second day's play, England had secured themselves a first-innings lead of 123, a position that quickly improved when Nafis Iqbal fell for 6 late in the day. But an English lead of any description had looked highly improbable midway through the afternoon, when they had slipped away to 142 for 5 in reply to Bangladesh's handy 273.

Spearheaded by their impressive paceman, Shadahat Hossain, who blasted out both openers, and well backed up by their left-arm spinner, Nadif Chowdhury, who whittled away at the middle order, Bangladesh had high hopes of securing a first-innings lead. But they had reckoned without Hildreth and Davies, who stood firm in a vital 177-run stand for the sixth wicket.

Hildreth, who scored his maiden first-class century for Somerset earlier this season, was always the dominant partner. But it was only well Davies was dismissed, caught by Dhiman Ghosh off Nazmul Hossain, that he truly clicked into top gear. Expertly shepherding the tail, he moved effortlessly past 150, and then, in the space of seven extraordinary deliveries, he exploded from 177 to 209 with four fours and two sixes.

Two balls later, and Shadahat ended the fun with his third wicket of the innings. But not before Hildreth had put England firmly in control of the match.

We dropped a pacer for an extra spinner. To give Ashim a match? That may have set our bowling back today. Comments?

Fundamentally, this match is about

(a) giving young batsmen experience in English conditions, and

(b) seeing if Shahadat is back, and

(c) seeing if any young bowlers can make a mark.

B is definiteley a success. Shahadat is back, and him and Mashrafe with Rafique to come is a Test bowling attack.

C I'd call a success as well ; Enamul Haque jr is the most established player, and he wasnt the one that took the wickets.

As for A, we'll see how the second innings goes.

But so far, so good.

I'm looking forward to seeing how New Zealand react on their tour of Bangladesh ...

The day started well with Joe Denley out caught behind to Rajib 3rd ball of the day. The decision was a little dubious but the ball was a good one regardless.

A partnership then built between Alistair Cook and Ravi Bopara, before Rajib collected his second wicket having Cook caught at cover by Aftab Ahmed. This followed a period of sustained good bowling from Rajib and Nazmul.

Bopara was next to go bowled by Nadif Chowdhury, beaten in flight losing his leg stump.

First test hero Luke Wright was then bowled by Nadif Chowdhury trying to repeat his favourite cut shot which proved so successful for him in the first test.

James Hildreth and Samit Patel then took England to lunch with the score on 4 for 142, chasing Bangladesh' 273.

Patel was dismissed in the first over after lunch by Nadif Chowdhury courtesy of a brilliant catch at silly mid off by Nafees Ahmed. This left England at 5 for 156, still 117 short of their target.

The lunch tea session then belonged to England with Somerset's Country 1st's leading run scorer James Hildreth demonstrating his class who along with Steve Davies batting through to tea to have England still 5 down but with a first innings lead of 40.

Immediately after tea Nazmul Hossain claimed Davies caught behind by Dhiman Ghosh. He then bowled Adam Harrison for 1 to have England 330 for 7. Hildreth then moved on past his 150.

Nazmul Hossain then took a brilliant catch to dismiss Mark Turner from the bowling of Nadif.

Nazmul Hossain then had Simon Cusden caught at gully before Hildreth went on a rampage batting with number 11 Michael Munday. Hildreth approached and passed his double hundred from one Nazmul Hossain over in which he slammed 25 including 3 sixes. He was then bowled by Rajib by the first ball of the next over for 210.

England were finally dismissed for 392 with a lead 119. Nadif finished with 4 wickets while Rajib and Nazmul Hossain both grabbed 3 each.

Nafees Iqbal was out in the third over caught behind off the bowling ofLuke Wright for 6.

Bangladesh closed at stumps to be 13 for 1.

Day 2 Update

Hildreth - sensational one of the best innings i have ever had the pleasure of seeing. A chanceless double century, and hardly it a ball in the air until the last 30 mins when he cut loose for fear of losing batting partners. It was a great example of how to bat.

Our bowlers all bowled quite well, but he was able to absorb pressure and then wait for a loose ball, which at time took up to 10 overs to come. Enam was a little our of sorts to do and did not bowl to his potential but all others bowled very well. If you take out hildreth's 200 and davies 70, there is not much left in the England innings. Unfortunately we just could not break the partnerships.

Enam did change the bowling around frequently at times, but this was part of the plan in order to unsettle the batsmen and keep exposing them to different angles, speeds and degrees of turn.

Unfortunately we lost a late wicket prior to stumps to a very good delivery from Luke Wright.

But today is a new day and the batsmen have the job ahead of them. If we can bat through the day today we are a good chance as the wicket is getting drier and the footmarks will come into play.

Sorry i did not make special mention to Mushfiqur in the first innings, he batted very well, but the support of Ashim Chowdhury and then Rajib ensured we could build the partnerships so they deserve equal credit.

Nadif again was our leading bowler, but Nazmul and Rajib are also starting to hit their straps.
