Is it only me or have you guys noticed that the BD team had changed its batting lineup many times just their innings. Is it because they are sometimes scared of the big total of the opposing team or they simply dont have a good opening duo?
(Asia cup's last match Bd Vs Pak)
(match #2149 BD vs Ind)

Batting line up of Bangladesh has been changing quite regularly for YEARS.

The opening, middle order, there has been changes everywhere, almost everytime.

In fact, you won't be able to count the number of times the line up has changed from one match to another in a particular series - series after series it has happened.

However, the only thing that you can DO a count is the number of times that there have been NO CHANGE in the batting line up.

Remember in 1999 World Cup when Bangladesh won against Pakistan. They interviewed Nannu and he said he did not even know that he will be on the team until that morning before the match. Apparently, our sports minister called and told who should play and who should not. They did not even like the fact that Gordon Greenidge was imposing tough rules on players. So he had to resign.

Mohommad Rafique should open in the ODIs with Ash to get the team of to a flying start just like Hayden and Gilchrist do for Australia

It may take only 100 games for them to get ONE start like Hayden and Gilchrist!

I think that would be the BCB president Saber Hossain Chowdhury, not the sports minister Obaidul Qader who did that.

Bangladesh will most likely loose BIG all of the games anyway. Therefore, why don't we try something very drastic at least once. The worst possible case will be, we will loose badly, so what? "lang-ter abar lojja".

Here is my batting lineup:
1. Rafique
2. Tapash
3. Ashraful
4. Nafeez/Aftab (who ever is selected)
5. Bashar
6. Pilot
7. Rana
8. Mushfiq
9. Rajin
10. Gullu
11. Nazmul/ T. Aziz (who ever is selected)

The team will apply the following phases based on game situation:

PHASE-A (“The Gunners")
Strategy: The goal of this phase is to keep on hacking 4s, 6s, whatever comes. Flicking, hooking, drive over the fielder's head, reverse sweep: everything is allowed as long as score is moving fast, as if there is a train to catch.

The Skinny: Forget technique you are allowed to do anything, as long as runs are coming. However you will not be forgiven if there are too many "dot" balls.

Target Run Rate: 5 - "Sky is the limit"

Team member of this phase: 1) Rafique, 2) Tapash, 3) Ashraful, 4) Nafeez/Altaf, 5)Bashar

PHASE-B ("The Brains")
Strategy: The goal of this phase is: bat reasonably based on each ball's merit, don't loose wicket, try to keep run rate steady by scoring 1s and 2s and punishing the bad balls with 4s. Good judgment, good technique, good “running between the wicket” is important in this phase.

Target Run Rate: 3 - 4

The Skinny: Use your brain, don't take unnecessary risks. But don't miss the opportunity to punish bad balls.

Team member of this phase: 5)Bashar (dual role), 6) Pilot, 7) Rana, 8) Mushfiq, 9) Rajin

PHASE-C ("The Face Savers")
Strategy: Very good defensive technique is essential in this phase. No foolish shot, no foolish run. Hooks, reverse sweep, flick and "risky runs" are banned in this phase. The goal of this phase is pretty simple: at any cost save your wicket. If run comes good, but don't , I repeat don't, loose your wicket.

Target Run Rate: 1 - 2

The Skinny: You are the “chosen one” to save the nation from disgraceful result. At any cost don't loose your wicket. If you need "crazy glue" to stick to the wicket then do so. Forget about scoring run, if you are lucky (someone like Sami bowls), then run will come plenty as extras.

Team member of this phase: 7)Rana (dual role), 8) Mushfiq (dual role), 9) Rajin (dual role), 10) Gullu, 11) Nazmul/T.Aziz

Overall game strategy will be:

1 to 15 overs: The "Shopno"
Apply PHASE-A ("The Gunners"). Goal will be to try to score as fast as they can from the beginning especially with the fielding restriction. At any stage if we loose 5 wickets, then switch to PHASE-C ("The Face Savers").

Best possible case: score 75 to 100 within 15 overs.
Worst possible case: 30/5 or may be worst.

16 to 25 overs: The " Shopno Bhong-go"
If we have more than 5 wickets left, continue phase-A.
If you have less than 4 wickets left, change to phase-C ("The Face Savers") strategy.
Otherwise use Phase-B ("The Brains") strategy.

Best possible case: total score 125 to 150 range
Worst possible case: 45/8 or may be worst.

26 to 40 overs: The "Ko-thin sho-mosh-sha"
If we still have more than 4 wickets left, continue phase-A.
If you have less than 3 wickets left, change to phase-C ("The Face Savers") strategy.
Otherwise use Phase-B "The Brains" strategy.

Best possible case: total score 200 to 250 range
Worst possible case: 65 all out

41 to 50 overs: The "Che-re-de ma ke-de bachi"
If we still have any of "the gunners" left, continue phase-A.
If we have any "the brains" left, follow phase-B strategy.
Otherwise play phase-C ("The Face Savers") strategy.

Best possible case: total score 300+
Worst possible case: 65 all out

By applying this strategy, maybe we can still one more win. People wins lottery - you know! :D

Enjoy!

Sounds like a plan Monday Morning. But i would have a face saver in at 3 or 4 and another one in at 5. Just to stick around with a Gunner. Hahhaha I hope they try this some time.
