I found all the U19 captains overuse Nadif .... I have never seen him bowling ... may be he is always dangerous.

I think we missed a great chance today ... 170+ will be too much for our batsmen given most of them usually don't click in one match. Still cannot forget England were 58 for 6!!

Okay, time for Nafis (and Nafees) to go in and bat with some responsibility. The wicket might not be as batting-friendly as was thought earlier. Our bowlers have done a good job and for the first time in this test series we are in a commanding position and we cannot throw it away. The opening partnership between the "Nafis and Nafees" is very important. We need to score some runs and make a platform for Aftab and Co. to provide an onslaught that would cripple the English morale.

Nice to see a leg break bowler is doing well for Bangladesh. We do not have a genuine leg break bowler (Alok, Ash do not fit that group) for long time. Hope Ashim will shine in future.

I hope our cubs take openning very seriously, I think the openning stand will be very crucial to the out come of this match, I dunno if they havta bat today, think they will. all we need to do isto stay in the wicket for the rest of the day and not worry about runs at all. tomorrow is new day and then we should focus on scoring and winning the match.

man this guy in our team will have the same effect as Shumon, I think we can afford to take a player like him in the team alongside with Shumon, cus if they both get out playing rash shots then it's too much of a risk, but on the contrary if they both click then we'll have match on.

I meant Nafees is actually older then 19 and both BCB and ECB know about that, infact ECB asked to add couple of players older then 19 so they have a competetive matches.

very good comment and agree with you that "As long he is in the wicket, I am happy!". But considering the present situation of this game, I mean after the outstanding bowling performance, batsmen have to show their responsibility. Nafis is a great play, but in this game he should play different role.

Final Analysis of Day 1 IMO:

The day belonged to Bangladesh U19 though those 2 wicketes tempered our achievement a bit. However to take out England U19 for 185 midway after lunch has been phenomenal. Pretty much all the main bowlers came to the party for Bangladesh today and the fielding did its part.

Tomorrow's target: Nafis should look to score a big hundred and the cubs should aim to bat out the day at least and put around 280-300 more on board.Ideally we should go into the third day with 4 odd wickets in hand and have a run feast early. The bottomline is, to ensure a result in our favour, we should look to bat only once, and have better part of 2 days to bowl them out!

pompous you sound very optimistic! I hope you are not making fun of them. Based on your analysis the same team that just got beaten by 5 and 8 wickets just few days ago, can actually score 300 runs by just losing 4 more wickets?

English bowlers with county experience have to bowl blindfolded to make that happen. :embaressed:

if that happens then there is $300 for you.

Bangladesh 58 for 2 (Nafis 39*, Shamsur 4*) trail England 185 (Patel 65) by 127 runs
Scorecard (http://plus.cricinfo.com/db/NEW/LIVE/frames/BDESH-U19_ENG-U19_U19T3_17-20AUG2004.html)

England were made to struggle on the first day of the third and final Under-19 Test against Bangladesh at Cardiff, as they were shot out for a meagre 185 in just 49.1 overs.

England's innings got off to the worst possible start when Joe Denly was run out in the very first over without even facing a ball (0 for 1), and with that timely boost to their morale, Bangladesh set about decimating England's top order. Rubaiyat Huq removed Moeen Ali and Ravinder Bopara in the space of five balls, before Nadif Chowdhury trapped Steven Davies for 6 (48 for 4).

Alistair Cook had been looking on impassively from the other end, but when he fell to the other Chowdhury, Ashim, for 36, England were 56 for 5 and floundering. Ashim struck again two runs later when Tom Smith was bowled for 1, before Shadahat Hossain got in on the act with two swift wickets.

At 125 for 8, England were looking down the barrel, but Samit Patel dug in for a vital 65, and received excellent support from David Griffiths (21) and Michael Munday (15 not out), as England scraped together 60 runs for the last two wickets.

By the close, Bangladesh had reached 58 for 2 in reply, with Nafis Iqbal warming up nicely for next month's Champions Trophy with an unbeaten 39 from 47 balls. Both wickets to fall had gone to Simon Cusden.

other than the maidens, they did go for a lot of runs, didn't they? after all, 185 in 49 odd overs is pretty quick...

i think rajib's still got a long way to go actually...but he's definitely a good find...a little bit of polishing will do.

If you compare this 3rd test against the 2nd test and take into consideration the "JC Hildreth" factor Bangladesh haven't done any better so far.

Eng U-19 1st innings:
--------------------
In 2nd test = 396 minus 210 (JC Hildreth;s score) = 186 Runs
In 3rd test = 185 Runs.

BD U-19 1st innings after 2 down:
--------------------------------
In 2nd test = 63/2 ( Nafis Iqbal and Aftab out)
In 3rd test = 52/2 ( Shareer Nafees and Aftab out)

I wouldnt guarantee that.

If Bangladesh can get the score up to 300 or so by tea of day 3, and then have England batting, then another England collapse will see Bangladesh with about 100 to get, and the time to do it in.

I guess, the boys will have only 40/50 overs play today. Hence I suggest they play like one day game and go for about 4 runs per over.

Weather permitting and providing we have 2/3 wickets in hand, play the same way tomorrow morning and get a lead of about 100/120 and declare.

Try to bold them out cheaply and may be we can win........

The game normally would be extended to about 7pm. We started at 4pm.
That's 3 hours and in 3 hours you can bowl about 40 to 50 overs. If we score 4 per over than you are looking at about 160 to 200 added to yesterday's score of 58.

Hence a lead of about 40 to 80 today.
