Who will be the new players in the side for this match. Did the U19s play a match between the second test and this test. If so how did they go. Shamsur Rahman better play.

Well best of luck to the boys and to you too Taif. I am really looking forward to your photos of the match. Please get some close-ups of the players and of our players in action. SOme nice shots! Our pacers in full cry! Thanks a lot in advance. :)

I don't knwo if shamsur Rahman will play. But that is immaterial. As our coach said we need to make sure our whole set of players get reasonable chances to play and learn in these conditions. So I would rather everyone gets a fair share of the matches. Winning the match would be a bonus for me at this point.

Hope they give Nazmul a lot of bowling practice. It will be a batting pitch so he can work on it as a challenge.

Its prediction time

My prediction for 3rd Test:

1. Bangladesh will win!! By 2 wickets, if they bowl first or by 81 runs (to be exact!) if they bat first.

2. There will be 2 centuries by BD U-19. One of them will be by Dhiman (my favorite) or by Shamsur Rahman. Out of these two, the other will score a half century.

3. Nafeez will have a RR of ~300+ in 1 st Innings. Unfortunately he will be out in the 3rd ball of the innings after hitting a 6 and a 4.

4. There will be 4 half centuries by Bangladesh U-19.

5. There will be no century by England U-19.

6. Nazmul (the MAN) will take 5+ wickets in one of the two innings.

7. James Hildreth will out for a quick duck in one of the innings. However in the other innings he will score 89 runs (to be exact).

8. Bangladesh will have a RR of 4.00+ in both of the innings.

9. This time the 12th man (rain) will play against us.

10. WE WILL WIN BABY, WE WILL WIN !!!!!:fire:

About Enam's Injury:

Yes it is unfortunate about Enamís injury but that is sport and he will recover and go on to play plenty of cricket. He has a complete rupture of his PCL and will be out for between 8 and 10 weeks at this stage. He is not in any pain and there is very little swelling so the forecast is good for him. He will see a specialist here in the UK prior to heading home in late August.

About Nazmul and Talha:

Nazmul Hossain is also returning home this week to see his family and freshen up before the championís trophy commences. We had to send one player home in order to Talha to come over and I offered Nazmul the opportunity given the length of this tour and the additional 4 weeks he will now be staying. It leaves us a little short for the 3rd test and the ODIís but provides him with the best opportunity to perform in the Championís trophy.

Team for the 3rd test is as follows:

Nafees Ahmed (captain)
Aftab Ahmed (v Ė capt)
Dhiman Ghosh (v-capt)
Mushfiqur Rahim (wk)
Nafees Iqbal
Shamsu Rahman
Nazim Uddin
Nadif Chowdhury
Rubaiyat Huq
Ashim Chowdhury
Kasi Shahadat Hossain
Israq Sonnet

Not Playing: Enamul Haque Jnr & Nazmul Hossain

Hope this brings everyone up to date.

Why do need two vice captains in a match? Does anybody know the reason?

Zobair
August 16, 2004, 02:13 PM
Perhaps to engender leadership qualities and experience in as many players as possible, to build cricketing IQ, share the responsibilities around etc. etc. At this age level I think it is a smart idea to try and groom as many thinking cricketers and leaders as possible.

Originally there were two vice-captains too. Nafees Ahmed and Nazmul Hossain were the deputies of Enam. So in the absence of the other two, Nafees (Abir) became the captain and Aftab & Dhiman filled in the empty slots.

Expecting a win this time. The wicket tomorrow doesn't seem to be that conducive to swing bowlers as opposed to previous tests. With a few top order batsmen in form, we should have a runfest. Good luck cubs.

I can safely assume that most fans are quite happy with a good showing/fight from the cubs.
So far, they seem to be up to par with their opponents despite what the books says. The English lads weren't able to just roll over them. In the last test, the Cubs were outperforming Queen's little subjects in almost every area (except of course, when you know who took the match away from them).

These guys are learning how boys are made into men, path to true professionalism by playing alongside a quality team, with all the bells and whistles that go with it.

Among other thing, there is also something interactive about this U-19 tour that Iím sure everyone noticed.

The almost real time updates and input from the Coach is a breath of fresh air. It is quite apparent that he's taking this as more than another coaching contract.
The fact that Coach McInnes takes time to read input from the fans all over the world and provides feedback and update, addresses specific issues, speaks volume.
He has been a professional even at his utmost candor.

Every time I read his input and match mortem, I felt better about the team and surprisingly got more hopeful about their prospect. And it wasn't just any lopsided story or last minute excuses that he was trying to sell. He has been right on the target, objective without being evasive and very encouraging as he gives us the 'court side view' of the games.

In the coming months if our Tigers show some of their claws (I hope they will), that will be just awesome. If not, I think we can at least be rest assured that not all is lost with BD cricket. Coach Whatmore has the most unenviable job in the world and I hope that his Tigers will not let him down yet again. It may be that the players under his disposal are at a impasse as per talent category goes.

In spite of the veterans' performances, I think we are just about to turn the corner.
Unlike their predecessors, the Cubs are born into a good cricket environment, which though not perfect, is years ahead of the times of Yusuf Babu and company.

Thanks to McInnes, I think they understand the lingo, appreciate the test culture, can walk the walk, talk the talk and are living and breathing cricket in a big way.
The BCB, along with the coach, in my opinion, are making all the right decision. (It is refreshing to see something going right for a change).

Like never before, these kids at their matured states will not have the fretful glance with jittery knees as they face the big boys in test cricket.
As they grow into their trade, they will yield no inch to the opponent, heed to no doubters - when the time comes to play their first test as Tigers.
Minnows, they will be not.

Years down the road, when BD fans are panting over a missing chance of white washing India or England in a test series, they will look back with the fond memory of these Cubs, and talk about how the Irish fellow from down under changed everything.

He is fine-tuning that magic flute.
I can hear it, oh so faintly!
The summer wind is laboring to bring that sweet sound around.
And yes, I can hear the beat of the little footsteps in unison, mesmerized yet resolved, following the piper.

Like to see the difference is not just the "Cup" and "Plate".
Something close, something honorable, something recognizable.
Fans, coach, players, we all deserve to be respected and honored.

Win or Loose, this team has a fighting spirit that is lacking in the national team!!! Thatís why I like this U-19 team.

I hope they will win this one. More importantly, I anticipate more exciting performance from the coming one day series!!!
