Why the authority is not rescheduling the match after rain abandoned?
After all it's a rainy season and so many matches wash away.
Is it that hard to rearrange the matches using the off days?

Mahmood
August 25, 2004, 12:12 PM
Yes, if they reschedule, they have to pay for the match officials, the cricinfo and other media expense... Its a tour match that generates no revenue.

RR slowed down probably because of good bowling by Cusden and Turner, remember- they were the two tormentors of our batsmen in the tests? I don't mind the RR as long as Nafis is there, he can accelerate later as he has all kinds of shots. But the point is- he has to STAY!

Javed Omar comes in my mind, without looking at any scorecards, against Zimbabwe, he carried the bat through against Zimbabwe.

I believe if you look at all the scorecards between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, you'll find if any one else has such a record (or even a remotely similar one).

In the U-19 match, it seems that both Nafees and Aftab are struggling; it forces me to say we should have included Shamsur Rahman in the team of the ICC Champion's Trophy rather than Nafees and Aftab both.

it seems these players are already started to feel the heat/pressure of big league and that is the main worry of BD batsmen

i proposed him very early to the national team. atleast he can handle the pressure and show the maturity than any body else in the U-19 team

Good morinig guys,
just joined in. looks like our cubs managed to score 9 runs more then their seniors' average score, I'm hopeful of a win but realistically a fighting match will be good enough.

It's also good to see S. Rahman batting through out the inning. I know it's too early to say this, I think these cubs have a better attitude and temperment then the real tigers. Atleast they don't crumble to the pressure. I am real hopefull of these players.

Just went through some of the scorecards, actually it was Javed Omar's 85 not out against Sri Lanka during 2000 Asia Cup that is the only innings (that I could find) where an opener has survived the full 50 overs and also remained not out. There is also the England match during 2000 ICC Knockout in Kenya, but Javed Omar didn't bat for 18 overs in that particular innings of his (of 60 odd runs) after he was retired hurt.

In the meantime, in the U-19 match, nice to see Rubayat Haq continuing his good form by taking the 1st wicket of the England innings, although the economy rate of both the bowlers are way too high.

I am impressed with the English batsmen. They don't seem to panick and give the wickets away if the rr seems to be falling. Very sensible cricket! I guess our batsmen did us in! By the looks of it the pitch is quite batsmen-friendly (also we won the toss and chose to bat!).

yeah pompous, we are at least 30-40 runs short. To me, the key was the run out of shahriar nafees. he was set, playing well and playing shots. We needed a partnership in the middle with Shamshu rahman. This match is a no contest, but things like that happen. I still like this U-19 team. We have a few good players. They need to concentrate on how to build a partnership in one day games. To me, that is the key. This Hildreth guy is a very good batsman. Good luck to us next game..
