Jugantor reported there is a possibility that Faisal and Taposh is playing this match in place of JO and chacha!

Zephaniah
September 2, 2004, 05:02 PM
Squad rotation. innit? You gotta give Faisal dude couple of matches to get him a hang of it. And at this point if you leave out Chacha, the most successful bowler so far...ahem, you gotta take Tapash in to inject some experience in the bowling line-up. After all we are looking forward to a more than convincing win. :):):)

Lets the party begin....:fire:

i do not mind JO out of the team for tomorrow's match. the reason is, he is vulnarable to injury. we need him fit for both matches in champion's trophy. for that if he needs some rest, we should give him that. of course, it all depends on how fit he is and will be make thru all or not.

FaltuRidwanBhai
September 2, 2004, 08:43 PM
yea practice match should be for players who are on the border line of getting into the team. so JO is already in the team and there is no need to keep on testing him again and again. we should try faisal.

Nafees
Ash
Aftab
Rajin
Faisal

will miss some experience! Hope Aftab/Faisal will click today.

Skipper Craig Wright is reported to be again doubtful because of that injured knee. Ian Stanger has been drafted into the squad for cover. Without Hoffy today it will be interesting to see who they turn to open the bowling.

Nel came on early to replace Butt after he got some stick, started with a maiden and then went for 13 in his next over before being taken off, never to return. No Wright at first change that day and only four overs from him. Gordon Goudie, just turned seventeen, will be a brave choice as the replacement bowler in the side.

Will Coetzer swap with Coles again? This despite another encouraging prolonged stay at the crease in a 40 odd partnership after being dropped in it (again) at 70 odd for 5. Admittedly a meagre 13 but it was terminated by a daft run out and he had produced the largest partership in a low scoring innings.

Apparently the fielding also went down a notch despite Gregor Maiden being credited with two run-outs. So Stanger's all-round contribution may be sought.

Dougie Brown's 5 wicket haul for Warwickshire would have been useful. Nor any sign of John Blain or Kyle Coetzer summoned in a late dash up the A1.

Anyway we will see. Nearly the last game of a long season. 36 days of Scotland on the pitch nearly completed. A last effort? Oops, forgot about Dubai in November.

So he might not be reporting as frequently all day. Although there is also a less frequent running report on the Cricket Scotland site today.

--------------------------------

Obviously this is not a full strength Scottish team as D. Brown and G. Hamilton are not playing. But it would be a good exposer for young talents. The Scottish are fighting well. BD RR around 4 now. So things are still under control for Scotland

---------------------------------
Please someone tells them, Nafees and Aftab are from our U19!

who's the 3rd batsman out? Is it Aftab?

I was thinking of putting Foisal in at 4 (ahead of Rajin) to get the run-rate up and also to get Foisal to have some practice as he has never played in these conditions before.

But never mind since the 3rd batsman is out and Foisal is probably at the crease now.

For your information. Types of bowlers who may bowl for Scotland. Fast is probably an exaggeration.

A Butt - fast/medium and noted for his swing and seam on his day.

C English- medium. Has only bowled 9 overs for Scotland this season. Hoffmann is at work today

C Wright - medium. Skipper. Tall seam bowler. Probably our best bowler and has been notably successful in the NCL particularly last season. Ranked with some well known bowlers. However troubled by a knee injury and was doubtful for these games.

R Watson - depends. Off-spin or medium pace. Off-spin I suppose today and in the previous game.

I Stanger - medium. Seam/swing. All rounder.

G Maiden - off spin. Tall and hence high delivery.

G Goudie - fast/medium. Seam bowler and has just turned 17. So don't know when they will even to bring him on.

On another overcast day Craig Wright won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat. Asim Butt and Cedric English took the new ball and used the conditions well. Mohammed Ashraful, who had scored so freely two days earlier, found runs much harder to get, and after one or two miscues into space got a top edge off Wright which was very well caught by Fraser Watts running back at mid wicket. Nafees Iqbal and Aftab Ahmed carried the score to 113, when the introduction of Ian Stanger persuaded Nafees to give a catch to wicket-keeper Colin Smith. 1 run later Ryan Watson bowled skipper Rajin Saleh. After 35 overs the score had reached 151-3, with Afatb on 55 and Foysal Hossain on 18.

i'm expecting at least 48 runs off the last 6 overs. the more the better. they should be able to hit 8 or more in last 6 overs with 6 wicket in hand.

ANother wicket

Gordon Goudie came on to bowl a steady spell without much luck at first. A difficult catch was dropped in his first over, but in his fourth over however Smith brought off a smart stumping off his bowling to dismiss Aftab for 80. Scotland had already lost Wright to a knee injury and Watson hurt his hand, so Dougie Lockhart was in charge when substitute Simon Smith took a sharp catch off Gregor Maiden.

I read it before, but little bit confused. That injury occured before or just now. They did not say it. It might be one of 4 wkts.

At least these practice matches helping to build the confidence of some players. So the tour of Ireland and Scottland as an warm-up wasn't a bad idea after all!

Foysal Hossain made a quick fifty before giving a catch off Goudie, who had bowled an impressive seven overs at the death. The final score was 259-6 after an explosive final over.

Well done, even though its a weakend Scottish side (yes, now I can admit that it is a weak Scotland side) 250 is a very good score, especially for this young Bangladesh team.

I think players will remember this total for long time coming as this is their first 250 score (I mean players like Ashraful, Nafees, Aftab, Rana, Rajin)

Bangladesh have never past 250 run mark since the introduction of Ashraful/Tushar/Rajin - this age group started playing for BD.

WI current position is unpredictable. We can hit them at their bad time.

Aftab & Faisal , Only one of them will be selected, I reckon. Nevertheless a very good experience for young Aftab. Pobebly both of them will play against USA and Hampshire 2nd XI. Comperative success rate would decide which one will be selected for CT. My guess.
