The closest i came to falling in love with Bangla was when a bangla friend of mine sent me a poem and i had to run all over the place to get it translated.

I am sorry I didn't know Basher has become a religious figure.

Religious figures aren't beyond criticism either.

The fact remains, once again the captaincy is being poor. First the lack of aggressive field setting against the likes of Kumble, then letting Harbhajan hit free 6s through long on/midwicket, and now not using the strike bowler when wickets are needed badly. I also get the feeling he has been over-using Rafiq.

Exactly what do you mean by agressive fielding? I think you are suggesting defensive fielding to prevent runs, not agressive. I think Bashar had agresssive fileding in place to take wickets, it worked for a while, for some reason it's not working now. But if that is his game plan, he should move away from it.

Please say you just didn't say that. You want Habibul to be Hansie, Arjuna or Steve Waugh? Is this a fair comparison? Hansie and Steve grew up playing first class cricket and started playing test cricket when they are in the teens. And it took Arjuna a LONG time to ge a good captain.

Bowling O M R W
Mashrafe Mortaza 26 5 60 3
Nazmul Hossain 25.4 4 114 1 (1nb, 1w)
Talha Jubair 19 1 95 0
Mohammad Rafique 50 2 156 4 (1nb)
Manjural Islam Rana 16.3 0 63 0
Aftab Ahmed 4 0 14 0 (1w)
Mohammad Ashraful 7 0 29 1

Rana has been taken in as a main bowler [ an all-rounder]. How come as a spinner, with 540 on the board, he has only bowled 16 overs ? Is it he is not up to it ? Or, Bashar has no confidence in him. I can understand Bashar has been told to use Mortaza sparingly. But, he should come in now for a short spell, if they bat after tea.

Have you noticed, Ashraful, does pop in with wickets. Clearly, he should bowl more.

I would say, it's an improvement

1. Not so many catch misses
2. Fielding is ok
3. line-length problem of Talha and Nazmul; but I forgive them at this age
4. Mashrafe has been superb
5. Rafiq is as consistent as ever
6. Pilot did well
7. Bad captaincy costs more than 50 runs; but I hope, Bashar can make a big century to make good of it.
