Wasim Akram commented in his regular column in Bhorer Kagoj (in bengali) that Khaled is a world class wicket keeper.

well at least good to see him admit that bd players proved him wrong on the 2nd day.

Wasim was reiterating the fact that he (and some other commentators) is an avid well-wisher of our team. His criticism is very constructive. He made some very good points regarding our domestic infrastructure. He suggested that playing at least 6-8 domestic matches ought to be a pre-requisite to be considered for selection, let alone playing at the test level. This is what many of us here have been demanding for a long time. Atahar and our othe board officials should take this matter more seriously now as some big names have expressed their concern over our selection policy and domestic level competetion. I also fully agree with making Ashraful bowl more often. I remember some of us here expressing our discontent over Bashar and Sujon's reluctance to use Kapali more often with the bowl. Ashraful managed to produce quite a lot of turn in that short spell. He got hit alright, but he definitely seemed quite capable of shouldering more than just 3/4 overs in a test match. I thought he got carried away with the flight a little bit, but other than that his bowling was very impressive. With a little bit of polishing we can get rid of bits-n-pieces players like Mushfiq/Rana. I like Rana for his grit. He is no slouch by any means, but his bowling is toothless at the test level against a quality batting line up like India's.

wasim akram made a good point yesterday saying that we need to play more first class match. everyone is saying that but our officials are not doing anything about it. we couldnt hear atahar alis respond yesterday bc the day was over and he didnt do commentary after that. i hope today atahar will say something about that. i think bangladesh should play 5-6 test in a year and 10-12 odi and spent rest of the year on domestic cricket. that way we can improve. we know ashraful nafis alok has the talent. but they need to play and sharpen up their game in domestic cricket so they do well in the international level.

I agree, in fact i was thinking in more radical terms that is to stop playing strong nations like Australia, England, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Sril Lanka, instead play official Tests with Zimbabwe, West Indies, sort of like the bottom tier countries for at least 2 yrs, while play one-day cricket with all the rest. At least we won't finish the one-days by mid-morning like we do in Test matches!
While doing this, we need to spread our cricket structure and have more domestic cricket play all over the country. Proper pitches and playing grounds made and finally introducing 3day-4day cricket. It is essential our batters learn to bat long hours- 5-6hrs at a stretch, becoz its not about physical ability but also tests how strong they are mentally as well. I am a strong supporter of 3day, 4 day cricket. I don't agree with the 2 day, 100-over system that we had last year!
Also it might help me coz used to be a "boycott" type of a boring batsman! :D

The highlight of Wasim's very constructive suggestions, and I paraphrase, was as follows:
The best players should play domestic First Class games. In order to facilitate this the BCB should tell the ICC not to scedule any tours for Bangladesh while the domestic First Class season is on.
When Wasim talks about Bangladesh Cricket you can feel that he actually cares about our cricket and really wants to see us do well. He says something positive every chance he gets.

And this is the missing link; how a player can play in domestic first class games and how ICC will make schedule to avoid the domestic first class games schedule as there is no existence of this item either.

Agree with him, especially with his comment about Manja Rana's bowling

Wasim needs to stop helping other teams and start helping the pathetic Pakistani team... 170-odd and 70-odd against Australia... I mean seriously, this is making me sick. Bangladesh is performing much better against India then Pakistan is against Austrlaia.

Can't tell Akram that if the Pak Board doesn't want him or doesn't agree to his terms! But i'm sure that he can help BD board to at least give some input of how BD can produce talented players like they do in Pakistan!

Not to schedule any tours would mean BD would not have any home test matches. This guy is dense.

Paks really don't have much tallent in the batting side. For bowling, their talents come from street, not via any special program, just like how Mashrafee came for us.
