will sgstream or any one else live webcaset the test and one days between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe?

howzatt!
January 3, 2005, 02:23 AM
cracky, we are all waiting for an answer to that question. but most probably no online media will broadcast the series. i'm still searching on the web everyday for a site that will atleast have audio commentary if not video.

cracky
January 3, 2005, 09:43 AM
as far as I know direct tv has bought the copyiright to broadcast all the test and one day matches that takes place in Bangladesh. thats why they also showed mathc between BD and India. Now lets hope they will also show BD VS ZIM.

I wrote the following e-mail to Willow TV:
Dear Sir, Is there any possibility of broadcasting the Bangladesh-Zimbabwe cricket series on willow TV? I would higly appreciate your reply.

And I got the following reply:
Dear Subscriber, Thank you for your message. Unfortunately We havent got rights to telecast the Series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Please continue to visit us at www.willow.tv for updates. Regards, Willow TV Support

I am going to write to Cricinfo to find out whether they have any plan for unofficial radio commentry of the series.

If no other site provide video or audio webcast of the BAN-ZIM series, is it possible for the BanglaCricket fans to arrange something ourselves? Others might come up with better plans, I have the following one proposal in my mind:

If we can find someone to do the favor from Bangladesh to turn on the radio or the TV in front of their computer microphone, then it is possible to use Paltalk or some other voice-chat room for listening to the game live online all together. If anyone available in Bangladesh to do the favor, I am willing to contribute financially for their time. I think many other will be willing to contribute, if needed.

Please post your comment on the possibility of the above proposal. Also, I guess, we all would like to know if there is any other alternate proposal for the BanglaCricket fans to help themselves while no other commercial sites are stepping forward to webcast the BAN-ZIM cricket series.

It would probably be extremey hard to broadcast anything from Bangladesh given the bandwith available there. However, someone can make some money in here in North America, if they have access to DirectTV! :) We can learn a few things from our Indian comrades ;)

January 4, 2005, 12:12 AM
Willow TV is usually late in getting broadcasting rights; so, there is still hope.

As ESPN-India will be carrying the matches live [http://espnstar.com/jsp/cda/sportsonair/tvtimes_legacy.html] and DirecTV got the exclusive right to telecast international cricket matches from Bangladesh [http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/aboutus/headline.dsp?id=12_01_2004A], I am optimistic that these will lead to the same combination, i.e. Willow TV and SGStream. That means the same old story; we need to continue guessing the event name in SG!!

Direct TV has the right to broadcast all matches from Bangladesh through 2008. See the Direct TV announcement below:
http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/aboutus/headline.dsp?id=12_01_2004A

I wrote to Willow TV and they wrote me that they don't have rights to broadcast thsi series. But they suggested me to keep eye on willow.tv website for updates. I guess, Willow TV did not make up any deal with Direct TV yet.

So, there is good possibility that they BAN-ZIM series might be on Direct TV Pay per view. I will call Direct TV tomorrow. Unfortunately, I dont have Direct TV and I am not authorized to get any sellelite dish installed in my apartment either

Still I will try to get info from them, in case any Diect TV subscriber among us willing to do the favor for us. If needed, I guess, many of us will be willing to share financially....at least I know I will.

babubangla
January 4, 2005, 12:51 AM
why SG don't give prospective subcriber at least any hint about the event name? I had to guess many things last time to get the event payment page. Are they trying to hide something?

Dear Customer,
Thank you for writing in to us.

As far as Cricinfo is concerned there is no Live audio coverage of the
Bangladesh - Zimbabwe series. However, we do have our regular,
comprenhensive Live scorecards and ball by ball commentary for the
series. Please log in to our site for indepth coverage.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further queries.

What about Haider(Crickipagol) Bhai's webcast?

howzatt!
January 4, 2005, 01:29 AM
willow tv didn't get rights to braodcast, becuz they didn't try to get the rights and thats becuz they know that they can't make much profit out of that series. here's a thought about getting willow tv to broadcast bangladeshi series in future. when you register with willow tv, they ask you which country do you follow the most. i'm sure they didn;t get too many bangladesh's as answers. so they decided not to bother about BD-Zim series. so guys, if we all go to willow tv and register and say we follow bangladesh the most, they'll probably broadcast future BD series. *a hint to multiply registartiions* register more than once with different emails.

and yeah if anyone is willing to broadcast using their webcam or microphone, i'm willing to contribute financially aswell.

If used as Paltalk voice-chat, i guess bandwith should not be a problem. I see many people from Dhaka come to Paltalk voicechat and perform music and around 100 people listen to their performance all together. If there is anyone available in BD, we could give it a try, i guess!!

Actually, let's do something proactive this year. We need to get to grips with this dilemma. I don't know how we can start but my gut feeling is that we are many and if we get organised things will fall in place with a plan or something similar.:)

I heard that btv will be broadcasted in USA soon.
Can we ask Dish Network which already has channel-i and NTV to add btv in their line-up?
That way we can watch all Bangladeshi cricket all the time.

Technical ideas...

Anyone in BD can help us in the following manner (I hope it will work)

1) Get the BTV telecast frpm TV to your PC (using TV card). This will allow to view the Telecast on you pC in windows media player or any other media players.

2) Then you can webcast using window Media encoder software (you can download from microsoft.com). This requires some reading and set up time if you are doing for the first time.

OR

2) Share the Windows Media Player window using netmeeting and allow people to join your call.

Bottom line all of you can make some money (use paypal) and allow us to watch the games :)

Hope some of you back in BD will do this for some die hard supporters in foriegn land

To expand on this.. even the league games can be streamed. Hook up with BCB and get into their preferred vendor list to stream all BD games that are broadcasted for the Bangladesh team, unless the media giants have not already done so.

economies of scale is one...and the other is that Bangladesh cricket is still in its infancy. Bangladeshi fans (particularly those living abroad) are just beginning to take active and sustained interest in bangladesh cricket. A year or two from now, I am predicting we will be able to watch Bangladeshi cricket series on a regular basis online. Just a matter of time IMO.

no wazim, willow tv cannot do anything unless direct tv shows the matches. Willow tv broadcasts from direct tv. So far direct tv has not decided about showing the matches. But it seems they are still not sure about the one days. If you all email both direct tv and willow tv then they might see there is enough interest for this games and might decide to broadcast the mathces. Direct tv already have the rights to broadcast all the matches in Bangladesh. They are not showing just because of financial reason.

so, guys email both of direct tv and willow tv. There are still chances for one days.

western union is expensive....they charge a large amount as service charge for remittances.
To 6n4, it is your source and they know you, why dont we all send payment to you via paypal and then you send the whole some in BD. You live in canada, and paypal works in canada.

Only Audio? I think cricinfo text is much better then audio..I mean what the heck, with text you can read and scroll!
Interestingly enough audio and video pricing looks the same!

I have called Direct TV and mailed willow tv and the result is they are not covering this series. Only ESPN India and Star Sports India will cover the serise.
Now if some how we can get those 2 media to webcaste it we will be able to watch the games. If anybody has ideas how to approach them effectively please do so; may be we will get lucky.....

although direct tv/willow tv won't broadcast this series, the emails that we've been constantly sending them will create positive results in future. they'll realize there a re a lot of bangladeshis out there who are willing to pay to watch their country play cricket.

Motorola Bangladesh recently introduced Canopy(wireless broadband) for corporate and service provider customers. This one is very fast but normal public can't afford this.

OK FINALLY !

Now listen guys...i have talked to my bd source...they will make the necessary works today and also test for the audio streaming.
now those of you who r interested to listen the match audio commentary and ready to pay must email in the adress below :

bdcricket@gmail.com

if the test goes positively..they will stream audio from tomorrow for sure in paltalk/yahoo. each n every person who r gonna pay for the match will be given an id and the lock code. and one more thing for this first test match as 2 days have passed. u will have to pay only $4 for the rest of 3 days.
this is for the first test match only.

So the payment table will be like this..

1st test = $4 / per id
2nd test = $5 / per id
Each ODI= $3 / per id

if the test goes positive, u just need to make only the 1st test match's payment ! not the whole payment !

now how ur gonna pay ??Ans is through paypal before the day starts ! i am gonna give userid so that u can transfer the money to that a/c.

Last of all..as they r webcasting for us..so they want at least 20 users so that they could bear all the expenses for bandwidth and maintainances !

thanks a lot...

GO BANGLADESH !!! :fanflag:
