They are not, the reason they are playing fast is only for a WIN. Look at the run rate, its 4.41, does it tell you something?

No credit goes to zimbo bowlers, they are ordinarier than ordinary

Tehsin
January 9, 2005, 02:00 AM
We are killing ourselves. We need atleast 100 more runs before we sent Zimbabwe to bat but because of the four wickets, we have ut unneccessary pressure on ourselves and may end up folding our innings before 200. I'd hate for them to slow down but one more wicket and we'd be out of our so called specialized batsmen and we can't rely on tailenders in every single game.

I think sending of pilot is a good idea at this time since our wickets falling consistently. Beside, bashar need somebody to anchor him till he gets his century.

Does it really matter, who should get the credit?? If we cannot win, for sure, they get al the credits...

Seems like their fielders are compensating for that factor. Our batsmen are being overly comforting for them as well. Even so, I will continue to have faith in them and hopefully we will see a follow on by Zimbabwe int he second test.

27.1 Chigumbura to Habibul Bashar, no run, well down the leg side, Taibu
dives and save certain four

This Taibu is simply great, aggressive, hardworking and talented.. WE need some players like him...

Tehsin
January 9, 2005, 02:04 AM
Why can't we keep the balls on the ground ? Use the right hand to control the bat and the left one to play.. how hard is that ?

27.3 Chigumbura to Habibul Bashar, no run, full ball, outside off,
drives it in the air back to bowler, Chigumbura drops it

zim has to give 100% - they know that any lead over 350 will be tough to chase down
and they would have to survive 4 sessons on a (hopefully wearing pitch).
1st innings lasted approximately 5.5 sessions

Good lead, but may not be enough. The pitch is not good for bowling, so batting can be easy for them... So, I think, no need to take risk, at least 400 runs is a must..

lead of 400+ would be a real challenging one for four sessions. But to achieve that, we have to score 100+ runs in no more than 20 overs. Is it possible, without welcoming a collapse?

No one should take the scores of this innings seriously. The batsmen are our there with one clear intention - score aggresively and score as many runs as you can so we can give Zimbs a stiff target and have enough overs to bold them out. We will be losing some more wickets without any 50's (we don't have quality bats like Australia, pakistan or India) or 100's. Having said that, our captain just scored back to back 50's and he is aimng for a 100.

I believe our batsmen lost their wickets without any specticular fireworks from any of these. The main reason for that is the mindest. Their mindset was not correctly configured for this situation what we never experienced before. We lost wickets but scored less. If we really have to go quick, then be it.. score 4s and 6s before being out.

Because they don't have quality batsmen to score 400+ runs at the moment and moreover its very difficult to score that much runs in the 5th day at subcontinental pitches for any team.

do we really think so high of Zimbo's, that they will be able to better their 1st innings score? I really dont think so. there is no way Chigu and Taibu will be having that big partnership. They will simply crumble under the pressure.
