How come we have never produced a leg spinner?? I find it very odd that all our spinners are SLAs. We had one a few half-way decent off spinners, but no leg spinners. (at least none that I can recall). Very bizzare.

May be Desi DNA is only strong for making SLA.:D

yes its all to do with genes. Our rotator cuffs are specially designed to encourage off-spin action and hinder leg-spin action. On the other hand aussie DNA encourages leg-spin action over off-spin, vis-a-vis shane warne and stuart macgill.

We need some other types of spiners, SLA's arn't great bowlers once the batsman get used to them, thats why not many SLA's exist around the world.

Yeah thats true, there arent that many GREAT left arm spinners in the world. Its surprising Bangladesh has not produced any quality spinners apart from the SLA's- Enamul Haque Moni, Md Rafique, Enamul Jnr, Razzak, Manjarul, Saifullah Gem, and so on. I felt Alok Kapali should have worked a lot more on his bowling. Anyway has anyone heard about a leg spinner called Nabil, or a SLA called Arafat Sunny. I heard both of them are pretty good spinners.

I think most of us are right hand bat ... it is usually harder to play off spin from a left hander than from a right hander. That means the ball leaving you is harder to play.
At younger age, the lefties are found it easier to get a place in the team because of their bowling. So, right handers had to concentrate more on batting to keep his palce because his spin bowling is not as effective as his leftie friend.
So now we have lot of slow left hand bowlers than slow right hand bowlers.

Yeah the most talented spinners seem to be SLA's Rafique, Manjural, Razzaq, Enamul then you have Sunny and Chowdry coming up.
In terms of off break there is Naimur Rahman, and I thought highly of Shabbir Khan what happened to him?
Leg Spin well Alok ashraful aint quality enough, though they should try become all rounders.
