Bangladesh can win only if three batsman contributes with bat(total 160 runs by three batsman + 60 to 70 runs by others) and if Zimb fails(especiallsy their powerful top and middle order) .....Masree, Rafique have to play the key role to get the win....I see 50/50 chance

Someone mentioned that it is a 2 weeks task for me to translate "Banglar Cricket Kobi" Fazal's poem.

I must have really impressed him with my bangla cos i really can't translate it in 2 years. Yes, i am smart and intelligent and can link words and pieces to complete some jigsaws to get a fair understanding of what he is saying (Choka, Chhokka etc.). But that's where it all ends

Sooner or later, he'll have to translate it for me.

A few thoughts about winning the 5th ODI and a first ever ODI series win

Batting first:
One of the openers has to succeed and give the foundation to a competitive total. Cricket being a game of luck we never expect each of our “talented” batsmen succeed, but someone in the top order needs to complement in the partnership building efforts. This duty falls on Bashar, Ash, or Aftab. Alok, in Rajin’s absence, needs to make efforts to redeem himself and wipe off all the badmouthing about him. We could never win without an above par performance by someone. Examples are Rajin and Nafis (of course the two R’s, Rafiq and Rana, of our spin bowling) in the recent two wins. No middle order collapse may occur. After the fall of two consecutive wickets, and especially in the event of a top order collapse, forget the run rate and focus to keep the wickets and build partnership, and bat all 50 overs. As always some bonus runs will come from the hard-hitting tail-enders.

Bowling first:
Checking run rate is much easier than taking attack to the batters and being hit by occasional 4’s. We need to check the 4’s in the first 15 overs. So bowl to check runs first, and then attack when batters are showing the signs of discomfort. This is what our spinners did well in the past two ODIs. Also keeping the run rate down prevents the opposition from gaining in confidence; this needs to be done until Taibu is removed. Have a specific strategy for Taibu; he is prolific in what he does; he has scored and motivated fellow batters to build partnership and will grow into a “Heath Streak” sooner (I mean to lead a team single handedly). Note also that he is going to come back hard on us to make up for his failure in the 4th ODI.
Although Zimbabwe has been proven to be vulnerable to spin attack, our spinners, in the middle overs, need to check the runs by keeping line and length; Rafiq does it great.
We have learned that wickets fall, especially in ODIs, from batsmen’s irresistible urge to accelerate run rate by playing wrong shots; it applies to BD and Zimbabwe equally. But we have an upper hand in checking the run rate because of our better spin attack.

At the end if I have to choose only one important thing to do that would be asking our bowlers to check the runs because this is what we are always capable of.

NO prediction works in cricket. It's a game of great uncertainity.
We shall win- let it be by 1 run or 1 wicket- win is win.

So far the prediction has worked out really well as far as Zim batting is concerned. But Rana is unlikely to get MOM in this match.

DJ Sahastra

Seems like Paglar babar mazaarer Pani has shown it's effect.

A comprehensive match win and an excellent come-from-behind series win.

Should be a very satisfying result for any BD fan and supporter, especially the fightback from 0-2 down.

Zimbos, it seems, just can't play spin and while they have been competitive, they surely lack genuine match-winners. The awy tehy have catapulted to spin reflects on their inadequacies. They can take some heart from the two wins and look forward to improving from here on. Matsi, Chimbu, Rogers, Taylor, Taibu - they all seem talented and will need to refine their technique against good spinners.

For BD, all teh players have found their forms one way or the others - so a feel-good from all angles :).

Congratulations again.

My prediction was and BanglaCricket did not print it before ;) :
Bangladesh will loose the toss and Zimbabwe will elect to bat. Bangladesh will get them out under 200 and then chase the run by scoring 100 underr 15 overs and then winning within 33 overs.

Boy am I psychic.. Thukku psyched!!

"All except Kapali. "

Rajputro,

I think it's a little too harsh on him to keep on judging him by his past failures. He failed just once with the bat in the series that just got over. And he had some positive contributions despite afiling with the bat.

I am not sure if Dave Whatmore is too worried at this moment about Kapali. He has his hands full.
