I would never say that, it seems I am the only person in this forum who always had trust in Rana. He was never given enough chance to play at his full potential. Even when he was playing good, he was the main target of the selectors to be dropped.

It was very possible for him to get bowled in the first ball like Chacha. Luck is a big factor for scoring in the last 2-3 overs.

I knew you were going to say that. You have been always a Rana hater. No matter what he does, you will be never satisfied. If he takes 4 wickets, it is his lucky day, if he agains saves Bangladesh in batting, again another lucky day. I just wish Bangladesh had more lucky players like him.

and in a flat wicket when other Bangldeshi bowlers found it tought, Rana got the first wicket. Spitfire_x86 would say another lucky wicket for Rana.

hmm, I know even Rana becomes world's best player you will still hate him. whats the problem with you? I think he is your familiy enemy, isn't he? I can't see any other reason.

Rana's batting makes me cringe, and he's included in the team as a batting allrounder.

Stop making silly excuses the other day you were on about his bowling.!!!

You haven't got a clue!

Yeah, I think Rafique and Enamul are better bowlers than Rana

Shish Ahmed
January 29, 2005, 08:07 AM
I agree there.

But what we are saying for the time being rana is an asset to the BD one day set up.!!

Rana is a good player to have in stock, but I can't find a regular place for him in the main 11. He's most useful as ODI bowler, but rise of Enamul has made his postion shaky. As ODI batsman, he's useless. As test bowler, he's useless. As Test batsman, he's not good enough.

Rana got the biq wicket of Taibu!!! wowwowooooooooooooooow

Spifire all these are lucky wickets!!

Rana deserves today's MOM award, unlike his MOM award of 3rd ODI.

His today's batting proved good for him and the team in the end, but it hardly proves anything about his capability. He faced VERY few balls, and had nothing to lose since only 2 overs were remaining.

Recently Mashree has been more consistent with bat, but we don't consider Mashree as a batsman.

Spitfire, I think the main problem is that we all consider Rana as a batsman first, and then as a bowler. If we forget this, and just think him as a player who can bowl a bit and bat a bit - in the Bangladeshi context, then Rana has been doing just fine.

Enamul may be a good bowler, but ODI cricket is not a bowler's game, its batsman's.

I think the prime example of Rana is a young Rafique. If you can just forget about Rafique's last 5 years of cricket career (to be specific, after the world cup 2003), then I think you'll find a distinct similarity between Rafique and Rana. In fact, the only difference that I see is in their batting. While Rafique is a pinch-hitter, Rana is in the way of being a more orthodox batsman provided that he gives his batting a little more attention.

Rana deserves a place in the ODI team but he is not a test material.

I did not support Rana in the team of 4th ODI (even after getting the MOM) but he deserves to be in the 5th ODI team! Well done Rana!

How would you rate Rafiq's bowling then as opposed to
Rana's bowling now.

I didn't know Rana could hit a six.

a job well done rana. first BD player ever to win MOM award in consecutive games. i always believed in him and he proved what he can do. he crushed zimbabwe's top order. had he not done that BD would have lost the series by now. No doubt rafique is a much better bowler than rana, but rana was the one that did the damage today. he took zimbo's most important wickets (Taibu, taylor, Matsikanyeri, ebrahim was out of form anyways).
