View Full Version : some strategical thoughts about 5th ODI

Importance of winning the toss has already been discussed by the media and fans. but I think it is not as important as it was for 1st and 4th ODI which were day-nighter. I assume the wicket will not play any role in terms of who is batting first or second. the only thing which can play a part is the nerves- both team's inability to chase. A few strategies could be employed in the event of bd batting 2nd:
1. start slowly- keep wicket in hand and keep the run rate under 6.
2. if zims bowlers become dominant, send a left hander (manju or rafiq) to bat. batting order does not matter. it is never easy to bowl with good line and length against a left and a right handed batsman at the same time.
3. organize the batting order with experience+ young. e.g basher+aftab, masud+ash. do not send two inexperience batsmen one after another. e.g. nafis then aftab then maju. hopefully this will stop batting collapse.

if it does not work then may be bd cricket board has to put up a prize (car to be won) everytime they play to motivate the players.
the fans want victory by any means.
good luck to bd.
