RR is just 4. Only 6 wickets are in hand. Not impressive. Is there pinch hitters for the slog overs in this team?

I predict that 200 on total is enough for the 'A' team. Lets see if my prediction is correct or not.

BD A 235-9
Sports Reporter

A fine 70 by Shamsur Rahman steered Bangladesh A to 235 for nine in 50 overs in their second one-day match against the United Arab Emirates at the Sharjah Stadium yesterday, according to a message received in Dhaka.

In reply, UAE were 11-1 after six overs.

Opening batsman Shamsur was dismissed for one in the first match on Wednesday, which the second string national side won by eight wickets.

However, stand-in captain Shahriar Nafees stole the show with a hurricane 20-ball 40 to help the side post a challenging total in the day-nighter. Raqib Al Hasan made 34.

Left-handed Nafees made 55 off 91 balls the previous night as Bangladesh A stormed to 133-2 in 37.2 overs in reply to UAE's 132.

Mohammad Sharif, playing his first international match after a two-and-a-half-year lay-off due to injury, was adjudged man-of-the-match for his 6-24 from eight overs in the first match.

The third game of the four-match series will be held at the same venue tomorrow.

I see the UAE team is called the UAE Emirates Cricket Board so I don't think they are playing their full side. I see two players that played against Scotland in the Six Nations tournament last year and four that played in the Intercontinental Cup final match in November where they would have put out their strongest side. Yes I know that is a three day game. Still I don't see some of the players that performed in those tournaments playing for them.

As for their level they are the strongest Asian associate and they were one of the 5 teams that tied the Six Nations one day tournament. I know Scotland thought they would face them in the Intercontinental final on their home turf and were happy to see them beaten by Canada. So are they way down the ranks at present? I would say no. They are on a par with teams like Holland, USA and Canada (they beat them last year), Namibia and close to Scotland. ;)

As for some complaining about the A team playing in the UAE I think that is a bit churlish. I seem to remember the senior team losing to Scotland and Canada recently and Ireland should have won a game as well last year.

Who exactly are these associate countries supposed to play to improve their game?

Oops, I meant to put this on another thread discussing the first win (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/viewthread.php?tid=9493&page=1) so a mod can move it if they want. Otherwise it will do here. :)

in his report, coach said UAE was fielding their full strength team. i guess the new ones got in the team based on their performance.

Please, any update of the 2nd match?

Trueblue is right. Just one test and ODI series win over a young Zimbabwe team doesn't make us a good team who are not supposed to play ICC Associate nations like UAE all on a sudden.
