Shoaib Akhtar bowled the fastest recorded ball in the history of cricket in the World Cup match at New Zealand. The last ball of his second over was recorded at 161.3km/h or 100.2mph and betters his previous mark of 161.0km/h which he recorded on 27th of April 2002. I am not sure whether this record still holds true. What’s the record of Brett Lee (Australia) and Irfan Pathan (India)?

Irfan Pathan is not nearly as fast as these two.

In terms of speed, Shane Bond comes after Shoaib and Lee

Correction- Shoaib wasn't playing in the WC in Aus-NZ- he played in England and the game was against England and the batsman he bowled it too was Nick Knight, and as far as i remember it went for runs, either from his bat or pad!

Of Late, the faster Shoaib or Lee bowl, the faster the ball goes to the boundary.

Just needs a quality batsman facing them.

Agreed... Lee did well in the last match, but otherwise, he got punished. People like Afridi smacked him like he was nothing. Even Rana smacked him for consecutive fours

And we all know that Shoaib gets smacked on a constant basis.

Speed is all hype...

Shoaib said in an interview a few weeks ago he is concentrating on being more accurate rather than bowling faster :bravo:
