DUBAI ó Syed Rasselís five-wicket haul, well complemented by a sedate 78 by opener Shamsu Rahman at the top of the order and Nafees Ahmedís blitzkrieg towards the end, combined to script an emphatic 64-run win for Bangladesh ĎAí against UAE-Emirates Cricket Board in a one-day match under lights at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Rahman was the anchor for Bangladesh, as he shored one end up, facing 122 deliveries for his 78, which was laced with six hits to the fence and one over it. He was also involved in an 86-run association for the third wicket with Roqibul Hassan (38).

The duo however departed in quick succession and Bangladesh slipped from two down for 136 to seven for 186. Nafees Ahmed, however, stepped in to put a halt to ECBís progress, in a whirlwind 40 off 22 balls, which had five hits to the fence.

Mohammed Sharif too got a few hits in, scoring 17 off 11 deliveries as the visitors put 235 on the board, losing nine batsmen in their 50 overs.

Javid Ismail was the most successful bowler for ECB, picking three wickets for 41. Ahmed Nadeem took two for 44 and Khuram Khan two for 40.

The hosts began their chase in a most disappointing fashion, losing Mohammed Taskeen with just four on the board, and the prolific Ali Asghar (8) soon after.

Rassel struck both the blows, reducing ECB to two down for 23 and the hosts failed to recover from the dismal start.

There was hope though for a brief while as Khuram Khan fought valiantly, scripting a defiant 58 off 80 balls, laced with five hits to the boundary and two maximums.
