Bangladesh ‘A’ team confirmed the series win against the Emirates Cricket Board XI when they took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the four-match series winning the third day-night game by seven wickets on Saturday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a target of 135 runs Bangladesh ‘A’ cruised home scoring 138 for three with 23.2 overs to spare.
The opening duo of Saquib al Hasan and Raquibul Hasan put on 45 runs for the first wicket before Saquib departed making 16 with three fours.
But Raquib, a new talent who blossomed during the premiere league, hanged on till the end scoring 52 from 76 balls featuring seven fours and one six.
Skipper Shahriar Nafees Ahmed added 14 off 21 balls with two fours and Shamsur Rahman hit a whirlwind 25 off 19 balls smacking three fours and one six.
Tushar Imran was the not out batsman at the other with Raquib contributing 3 runs off seven balls. The extra 20 runs helped Bangladesh ‘A’ reach the target more comfortably.
Mohammed Tauqir was the pick of the host bowlers taking two wickets for 22 runs.
Earlier, the Emirates XI won the toss and elected to bat first but they had a dismal start losing both the openers – Ryan Chandha and Md Nadeem – within four runs.
One-down Naeemuddin contributed 24 off 47 balls with two fours and one six and Md Tauqir hit 25 facing 49 balls sending the ball four times to the fence. Usman Saleem’s 16 and Ali Asad’s 18 gave some respectability to the hosts’ total.
SK Rassel, the left-arm seamer, was among the wickets again capturing three for 16 runs in his 8.3-over spell. He grabbed five wickets in the second match the day before. Saquib al Hasan took two wickets conceding 28 runs.
The last match of the match series will be held today and it will be a day-night affair as usual.
