Bangladesh A bowled out for 142

Bangladesh A were bowled out for 142 runs in 39.1 overs against United Arab Emirate Cricket Board XI in the last and final day-night match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Bangladesh A secured the series winning the previous three matches easily and suffered batting disaster for the first time on tour. Bangladesh will depart United Arab Emirates for Zimbabwe today. Bangladesh beat UAE by eight wickets and 64 runs in the first and second match of the series respectively. They also registered a seven-wicket victory in the third match.

This is not "dissapointing" by any standard whatsoever.
This can be considered a surprise, yes.

A bad day happens to any team in the world.

We dominated the series totally and already won it before this match. And even after making such a low score we were able to make a good fight back.

The only thing I would perhaps consider dissapointing would be the amount of extra runs that has been given. When you see 36 wides, something is really wrong somewhere. Hopefully Richard will tell us what really happened.

But I don't consider it dissapointing, just to make it clear.

cisco-guy
February 8, 2005, 12:59 AM
It appears that several players (like Tushar Imran) did not play the 4th match. I believe BD was in relax mode after winning the series. There is no justification for 27 wides.

We should sometimes loose like this, so we actually know where we stand.. As McCinnes said, we are much closer to ICC associates than the full members.. And we must acknowledge that wholeheartedly. knowing our exact position will do more good to us than flying in the sky with no air in the baloon...

Only that bad days are often quite regular for Bangladesh. Now for the national team, we may be passing some enjoyable moment after beating Zimbabwe, but this upset has given us (at least given me) to not to be overjoyed and think of anything in the line of 'overconfidence'.

lol... Im not at all concerned... the whole perpose of this tour was to give games to those who normally don't get to play... so after clinching the series... it was a good time to give a game to those who cudn't normally play even for the "A" team (being in the squad doen't necessaraly mean u r selected for the final 11.)

This doesn't look like a 2nd string to me. Nafees, Dhiman, Shamsu, Rassell, Sharif, Shafaq, Sanwar, Wasseluddin played in this game. Now if you mean the a-team itself is a 2nd string team, then its a different story.

This is called 'over-confidence syndrome'. Thats what happend.

pathetic, if the scoreboard is true and you never know if it is. 2nd string A team - any 11 bangladeshis who boarded that flight to UAE should be able to beat them - whether they are 3-0 up or 0-3 down in the series. I hope for their sake the UAE played really well and it is just a tough loss. But if they lost because they were in a relaxed mood, that's just pathetic. they shouldn't need tushar imran to win this game, he hasn't done much in the prior games, has he?
