Hannan falls to Mashrafe again - not bowled this time though

Al Shahriar blasted the opponent bowlers, and Alok Kapali failed again. Masri looks to be in good shape, but can't say the same about Tapash.

Did this guy ever play professional cricket before?

I am not sure whether you consider Dhaka premier league as professional. He plays Dhaka league this year probably for Indira road.

Wascoorooni--Isn't one of the finds of GP pacer hunt recently? What was his highest speed?

couger
February 14, 2005, 03:05 PM
I meant isn't he one of the finds?

Spitfire_x86
February 14, 2005, 03:28 PM

85 mph most probably?

AsifTheManRahman
February 14, 2005, 03:38 PM
thats about 136 kmh --> nothing to get crazy about

Spitfire_x86
February 14, 2005, 03:47 PM
True, but most of our pacers doesn't even have this kind of top speed, which is the bare minimum top-speed for a real fast bowler

couger
February 14, 2005, 03:54 PM
85 MPH to start with IS pretty good. With proper nurturing he can get up there. How would he fare against Mashrafee or Taposh?

Spitfire_x86
February 14, 2005, 04:07 PM
He won't be faster than Mashree, I can safely tell that

paco
February 14, 2005, 04:17 PM
The fact that Talha and Shahadat was recorded at 76 and 78mph at the same trial suggests that the speed gun wasn't calibrated properly. Either it was way off, or Wascorni bowled faster than 86 mph.

Either way, so far I've only seen 3 pacers bowl faster than 80mph on a regular basis (Tapash, Masri & Talha), so if someone can even bowl 80+, and is reasonably tall to generate good bounce, then its a very welcome news.

trust me - talha isn't anywhere as threatening as tapash or masri --> both speed and accuracy wise. i had seen him play a couple of years ago, and i found him to be pretty ordinary. rajib, although i havent seen him, imo is a lot better (and quicker), from what i gather from the coach's reports.

the speedgun was set 5/6 miles below the acctual speed. that make it about 143-145 range. which is certainly good enough. How many bolwerls in the world can break the 150 pmh mark?

Wascorni is an arabic word. It means "your off-stump is mine!"

Easy way to spell it is to pronounce two parts "Wasco Rony".

So, from now on we can call him Rony :)

Rony, the new express train.

ok guys. sorry about the spelling error. here's the correct spelling: "Wascoroni Ahmed ". source - cricinfo

however, it's a more common name in bangladesh than anyone of you could imagine - i know a lot of people with the same name.

Anyway, like other BD pacers, he is still doesn't know how to bowl properly in the slog overs. Taposh took 24 runs from his bowled 48th over (Sylhet vs. Chittagong, Sylhet was chasing 250)

Check this out (sort of childish)

WASim AKram + WaqAR YoUNIs

In Bangla his name sounds like Waskaruni.

Show me another two names that can be combined into his wierd name. SPOOKY ha?

Perfect name for a fast bowler.

He looks built and intimidating in the daily star picture. How tall is he?

Sylhet Captain Parvez also thinks HIS action may be faulty ... Prothom Alo.

ofcourse shylet captain may think his action is faulty because he beat the crap out of their batsman in the 4 days match. well he just started his cricket career in first class. to me he seems very good i mean he is taking wickets on regular basics. all the faults he has will be solved i believe when he visits the camp in india. and once dav whatmore or richard mcinnis gets their hand on him that will help him too. his future looks bright and is a good prospect for our cricket. inshallah he can live up to my expectation.

That may not be the real bad news. Sylhet Captain may have his own motive.

The real bad news is: if Ittefaq report is true, the umpire mentioned to the reporter that he is in BCB suspect list.

i think even if his action is faulty he has time to fix it. the guy is only 18 yrs old he has time. he just started his first class career. i thought captain parvez should have showed some maturity and not say straight like this that he was throwing. as a captian he could have said it in other ways because we dont want this youngs kids confident level to go down. i think this match showed why bcb wanted to play other division players in shylet because they do not have the depth of players like dhaka and chitagong does. well good luck to wascoorooni ahmed, i think he is a left arm pacer.

February 18, 2005, 05:22 PM
Cricinfo and The Daily Star have different ways of spelling the BCB pacer hunt's most prominent recent find. Two names for the same person:

Cricinfo: Wascorooni Ahmed
DStar: Wayaskarani Palash

Check the scorecard in the recent Chittagong-Sylhet first class match, and you'll see what i mean. By any wierd small chance are we talking about two different people?

I support RajShahi. I like the name. It's Kind of "Grand".

How is my team doing?

Does Tangail play cricket too? They seem to be in too much news.

I'll also support Pabna and Hemayatpuri.

His name is Palash.

"Wayaskarani waltz
Young fast bowler Wayaskarani Palash became a revelation on debut after destroying Sylhet with a six-wicket haul as Chittagong stormed to an innings and 64-run victory with a day to spare in their second match of the National Cricket League (NCL) yesterday."

As far as I know, when prophet Muhammad (sm) died, he left a pair of his clothes to be sent to one person, whom he has never met. That persons name was Wayes Kuruni. He used to live far from Medina and he was the only person loved by prophet whom he never met at his (prophets) life time.
