If another fells, I will stop following the match. This is what happened, I logged in, looked at the score - 32 for 0, 7 overs and my heart jumped. I knew that was abad sign RIGHT AWAY. GUESS what, the next thing I see, GONE. GRRRRRRRRRR.
Kicking myself.

Cept for Murali, everyone is ANKORA in the bowling department. In fact, De Silva, the opening bowler is having his Test debut at the age of 27. He hasn't played ODIs yet. Also, he doesn't seem to bowl too much in domestic cricket.

Hannan Sarkar beaten 3 times and then hit a 4 - four time's lucky?

10.4 CRD Fernando to Hannan Sarkar, no run, gets his front foot forward
and tries to drive it through cover, beaten
10.3 CRD Fernando to Hannan Sarkar, no run, tries to drive, beaten
outside off
gets his front foot forward, tries to drive it through covers,

Team total of First Fifty - FOR ONLY ONE WICKET - that is a good start - what do you say?

(Although Muralitharan has not come to bowl yet).

Bangladesh has past the score of 100 losing ONLY TWO wickets!

And Hannan Sarkar has his debut fifty!

We can't afford to have this.

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 01:33 AM
Looks like Hannan Sarkar is a bad player of spin bowling, got out off the bowling of Jayasuriya!

How do you set your "mood", on the left side of your post?

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 01:39 AM
Now Habibul Bashar is out - WITHOUT scoring a fifty. He scored only 24.

And Muralitharan learnt how to take Bashar's wicket from Jayasuriya - I think both Hannan Sarkar and Habibul Bashar went out to the similar kind of flighted delivery.

Arnab

So far, 3 batsman got out leg before.

Is this an indication to anything?

Hannan Sarkar lbw b Jayasuriya 55(69)

What happened to Aminul Islam Bulbul?

Cricinfo Java Scorebox is showing that Khaled Mashud has come into the crease next after Habibul Bashar's out i.e., Khaled Mashud and Akram Khan are not out at the crease.

Shouldn't Aminul Islam be coming at the crease at the fall of Habibul Bashar's wicket?

And I thought that Aminul Islam was due to come in at number five whereas I saw Akram Khan coming in at number five.

So, what's the new strategy?

Mahmood
July 21, 2002, 03:26 AM
They changed akram for 4 and bulbul for 5. So its Bulbul now. Probably Mr. Shahriar got too excited.

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 04:38 AM
Aminul Islam has come at the crease - not Khaled Mashud after the rain had stopped.

Now only 45 overs is remaining in the day. Lets see what the rest of our batsman do now. Previously, before lunch and rain started, there were 64 odd overs remaining in the day.

By the way, Jayasuriya had come off and Dilhara Fernando is back to bowling again.

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 04:41 AM
No sooner had I posted my last reply, Aminul Islam is out.

He is out for a duck - only faced 3 balls. Bangladesh 111/5.

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 04:43 AM
All stages set for Akram Khan to be a hero again.

akku bhai is having major issues with murali....he doesn't look like he will survive too long.....

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 05:42 AM
Akram is hanging on so far, it is the captain Khaled Mashud Pilot who was playing OK at the other end, is out for 21 off Murali.

Bangladesh 148/6 now in 40.4 overs.

At last the SriLankan bowlers could get Akram Khan out. He has scored 20 runs but scored them IN 78 BALLS.

To me, he was trying to play THE INNINGS OF HIS LIFE. I have not seen him bat so patiently (if you forget about his 10 runs off 50 balls in South Africa that is).

If only he could remain unbeaten at the end of the day!

Bangladesh is now 9 down for 161 runs.

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 06:37 AM
Bangladesh is now all out for 161 with a minimum of 17.2 overs remaining of the day.

Alamgir Kabir was the last man to be out for a duck.

fwullah
July 21, 2002, 07:17 AM
Bangladeshi bowlers have failed to take any wicket on Day 1, first innings of the Sri Lankans.

555/5 declared looks to be on the horizon.

With all due respect to manju, why was he sent in at number 9 when almost everyone knows that poor Manju bhai is afraid to bat.

Mahmood
July 21, 2002, 03:45 PM
Because of his batting in the last practice match.

Arnab
July 21, 2002, 04:31 PM

BD team selections are like the poem we read in school back in BD...

Oi niyechhe oi nilo ja

BD has a new selection committee - the world's first remote based group, based mostly out of the USA (a non test playing nation).

Things can only look up.

Your much maligned BCB rep

Do I sense a little sarcasm?

Tehsin
July 23, 2002, 02:38 AM
What's a Sarcasm ? What kind of a CASM or ASM is it ?

Heck, amader na, most folks who oahev any sense can outdo BCB in their selections. It's not something we decided on a given day, we have seen BCB make one mistake after another and they were pretty obvious mistakes too. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
