View Full Version : Australia vs. New Zealand 3rd Test
March 26, 2005, 10:17 AM
Well the third test has started and both teams are looking for a win. NZ started well with FLeming and Marshall returning to form. But once they were out Aus came back.
NZ at Day 1 stumps are 199 for 5 with Gillepse taking 2 for 50.
Glenn McGrath also returned the incredible figures of 1-20 from 24 overs, with 17 maidens.
:bravo: to Fleming for returning to form with his 65.

Good to see Marshall twins do well.

Well NZ are just trying to survive. On the other hand Aus bowlers are like Gods- can find weaknesses of every single batsmen. Its been a while since i followed a game that didn't even score 200 for the day. The Aussies have the Kiwis by their balls.
I hope to see Clarkey get his sparkle back in this Test match.

I was hoping for Lee to play. Lee really needs practice before the Ashes.. Maybe he should join county cricket in England. He should get used to the pitch and he will have an advantage.

Yes, i think he will do well in English seaming wickets. I don't however advise him to play county cricket. I'd sugegst he plays the lower leagues, just to get some exposure. He will be a handful in the coming Ashes. Too bad he's not getting into the team- but I think Kasper has been bowling his heart out and McGrath is McGrath- no stopping him till he retires. The best fast bowler I've seen in my era!

So far NZ have fallen to 292 all out and Aus are catching up quick and are currently at 219 for 4.
March 27, 2005, 01:00 AM
I would like to see Clarke coming out of his slum.
March 27, 2005, 05:59 PM
NZ have gotten Clarke run out and Aussies are at 232 for 5.
March 27, 2005, 08:41 PM
A few overs after lunch and Aussies have lost Gillepsie and are now at 297 for 6 with Katich on at 35 not out. THey have a lead of 5 and over 50 overs to increase that lead...
Earlier in the day Ponting got him self a century while Katich recently got his 1000th run in test cricket.
March 27, 2005, 11:31 PM
Gilchirst has started his counter attack. He has reached his 50 in less than 50 balls....
March 28, 2005, 12:33 AM
Aussies end up on 383 all out....
Gilchirst: 60 not out
Franklin 26.1 3 119 6
NZ start of horribly by lossing Cumming in the second ball of the match.

At the close of day, NZ 11/2. I'm quite confident that they're going to lose within the 4th day.

Didn't you follow BD vs. NZ 1st test few months ago? We scored around 160-170 in the first day.

This was Gilchrist's fourth innings of the calendar year. His first three were all centuries, he must have one huge average now!
March 28, 2005, 09:49 AM
He could have gone for a century this time too but ran out of partners,

Hmmmmm..... Cricketcric seems to be everywhere posting this post. Got a U2U this morning with the exact same message.

The fourth day has begun and NZ already lose another wicket.
Currently they are at 23 for 3 still 68 runs behind Aussies with 7 wickets to go.
March 28, 2005, 05:44 PM
Make it 23 for 4. McGrath gets Hamish Marshall
March 28, 2005, 07:02 PM
They are now at 114 for 6 with Mcgrath coming closer to 500 wickets.

New Zealand 292 & 254
Australia 383 & 166/1
Australia won by 9 wickets

New Zealand sucks
March 29, 2005, 05:12 PM
NZ was easily pushed aside by Australia. If NZ were more healthly (if Bond was here) i think they could have put up more of a fight.
