View Full Version : Match Thread: Aftab v Nazmul, 4D 1 (Simulation)

March 29, 2005, 06:40 PM
Hello and welcome to Virginia for the opening match of the four-day series. Team Aftab will be expecting to win outright but they mustn't underestimate Team Nazmul. Team Nazmul disappointed in their first gme, crumbling to 101 all out and losing within 18 overs. Good news for them however is the pitch is looking significantly better. It is hard and true but there is quite a bit of grass on the surface. The bad weather has cleared so the fast bowlers won't get as much movement from the cloud cover

March 29, 2005, 06:46 PM
Oracle: TAILS!
Match Referee: That is a head, what would you like to do
Tehsin: We'll have a bat *shakes Oracle's hand*
Reporter: Tehsin you chose to bat first, why is that?
Tehsin: It was a hard decision but we thought we should just bat first up and get a big total on the board and guarantee us 2 points, then our fast bowlers can do the rest
Reporter: What kind of score will you be looking for in the first innings?
Tehsin: Well the pitch doesn't look that great for batting but I'd be very happy with anything over 400
Reporter: No changes to the side?
Tehsin: No but we've moved around the batting order a bit, Naheyan comes up to 7 and Navarene drops down to 10
Reporter: Oracle, disappointed with losing the toss?
Oracle: Not at all, bowling first means we can give our players time in the middle to get used to this form of the game and steady the nerves before they bat, it is a lot of player's first class debut today
Reporter: So no changes to the squad that played the one-dayer?
Oracle: No, changes can be bad for a team, I think we just need some sort of unity in the team, although that's hard to achieve when there's cricketers of both genders in one team

Now I know, why I was misjudging all those balls while fielding in the 3rd man.

It has been Team Aftab's morning with Team Nazmul struggling with the ball but they did get the crucial wicket of Asif Rahman. Can Team Nazmul get themselves back into this game? We will find out in this post- lunch session.

48.6 Tintin to Pundit, one run, Pundit pushes to cover and sets off, Jubaitca takes a shy at the non-strikers end but misses as Pundit brings up his maiden first-class ton

The ball swings in and pitches on the middle and the leg but could be missing off! I am confused.

AsifRahman may have a legitimate gripe.

no update for a long long time.

March 29, 2005, 11:34 PM
Sorry technical difficulties..this update is 13 min late...

55.3 TAIF to AgentSmith, OUT, The slower ball by TAIF, AgentSmith is too early on it and just chips it to short cover

AgentSmith c:LateCut b:TAIF 39(67)

March 29, 2005, 11:41 PM
may i know who is bowling now?

March 29, 2005, 11:43 PM

59.5 TAIF to Pundit, OUT, The ball wasn’t there to be hit, Pundit tried to clear midon but mistimed it terribly, the ball goes high in the air and Fazal holds the catch.
The brings the end to a magnificent innings and tea is called

So this session was a fairly even one as Team Nazmul took 3 wickets while 103 runs were scored. Team Aftab is still on top but Team Nazmul is fighting back after a difficult morning.

That should be missing leg, was a communication error between the commentators

What an amazing days play. A lot quicker scoring in this season than there was in last season.

March 30, 2005, 06:06 AM
fingures crossed that the Team Nazmul bowlers can knock the rest of em over without drama and their batsmen put up more resistance than the OD match.

The record last season was 280 runs in a days play. First day of the season and we've already beaten that considerably. 342 runs scored!

Maybe i should have bowled. I can bowl LS and OS......

107.3 TAIF to Radicalsami, OUT, Bowled him! Great delivery by TAIF, too quick for Radicalsami and the ball crashes into the top of off

Radicalsami b:TAIF 21(41)

And Navarene walks out "to face the heat and music in the middle"

Team Nazmul will be looking to knock over these last 2 wickets quickly now.

March 30, 2005, 08:19 PM
Yes getting some wickets.....

:bravo: to Team Aftab for getting over 400 in their first match of the season.

March 30, 2005, 08:36 PM
Team Aftab has now been bowled out for 433. Their captain must be a happy man with this superb batting performance. As for the Team Nazmul Bowlers, they struggled throughout the innings, but they did put up a fight in parts of the innings and played with plenty of spirit. Now they would be hoping that their batsmen will drag them back into this match. Thier innings will begin shortly. The Openers for Team Nazmul are Aka and Jubaitca with Piranha to open the bowling for Team Aftab.

Aka lbw b: Piranha 4(8)

Thats the sort of start Team Nazmul would not have wanted. with only a few minutes till lunch, They must get through to it without further loses.

March 30, 2005, 09:02 PM
Team Nazmul 1/8 (Jubaitca 3* Sakin 0* Piranha 1/5)

And thats lunch on Day 2 of this 4 Day match, with Team Aftab well on top. They have put up a solid 433 in the 1st innings and just before lunch removed Team Nazmul Opener Aka cheaply. Team Aftab will be hoping to continue this momentum and will be looking to knock Team Nazmul over cheaply. Team Nazmul on the other hand will be hoping to resist te bowlers of Team Aftab, especially Piranha, who humiliated them earlier this week in their 1st ever OD match.

March 30, 2005, 10:01 PM
Oh noooooo.... out for such a low score..... Sorry guys....

The players are in the middle and day three is about to commense. This match is interestingly balanced. Team Nazmul need 50 runs to avoid the follow on and Team Aftab have 4 wickets to take. If Nazmul don't avoid the follow on I see no way the can win this match.

Hay, hey hey! You could have waited till I got 50.
Ah well! That is cricket. If it is looped up and wide, I probably would have tried an on drive. But I do not usually miss very many of those. At least, the batting performance was better than my bowling. If I get the chance to bowl again, I will put a thick slip cordon and throw a few outswingers. Those aggresive top order batsmen could be dissmissed cheaply by some intelligent bowling.

These two brothers? have batted very well together, not playing anything they don't have to. The seem determined to keep their wicket intact and see their team through to a draw. Tehsin is losing patients and trying out new bowlers.

Sports_fan_bd and Pundit are the two bowlers currently being used

March 31, 2005, 10:28 PM
Oracle usually decided who bowls the overs. In one-day matches updates are every 20 minutes, in four-day matches updates are usually every 40 minutes. This one was longer because lunch was 40 minutes itself and there wasn't much to report on, not many runs were being scored. There's usually an update at the fall of a wicket aswell.

March 31, 2005, 10:31 PM
Coooool, jus a little excited seeing myself batting thts all

March 31, 2005, 10:32 PM
Maybe Oracle should also try me as a bowling on a turning wicket. I can bowl LS and OS.

Guys, we did great in the first innings. Dominated them in both batting and bowling. We can't afford to slack off even though we have plenty of time to finish them off. Let's focus on those stumps. 50.3 Piranha to Sakin, OUT, Good length, Sakin takes a big stride forward and gets struck on the pad, umpire gives it out LBW! Harsh decision

Sakin lbw b: Piranha 32 (136)

that was a useful innings by Sakin, only 32 runs but has played very well in helping Team Nazmul aim for the draw. The big question is, can they do it?

April 1, 2005, 01:05 AM
This is the 2nd time that the person who got dismissed was also the person who just asked for an update!! The other unlucky person was Agent Smith.

April 1, 2005, 01:07 AM
Oracle is the next man in... scored a good 50 in the 1st innings, the captain of the side. Can he lift the team this time in their quest for a draw?

April 1, 2005, 01:56 AM
And thats stumps for today. Oracle is still out there on 39 with Rana who has just come in. With 6 wickets still in hand they can still hope for the draw. Rana played as if they were playing for the draw in the 1st innings. He surely can repeat that once again. And Oracle is indeed a vetern player.

Hello and welcome to the fourth and final day of this match between Team Nazmul and Team Aftab. The pitch is still looking good with the grass holding it together. Team Nazmul trail by 51 runs with 6 wickets in hand. They will be looking to bat until around tea to save this test match. Team Aftab's bowlers look the goods and would like to run through the rest of the order in this morning session. It looks set to be a great day of competitive cricket. The players are in the middle, Radicalsami has the ball in hand and Oracle takes strike

April 1, 2005, 07:10 PM
68.5 Radicalsami to Oracle, FOUR, Ball is outside off, Oracle plays it very late and squeezes it down to the third man boundary for four. That's his fifty

We have some words/misgivings to convey to the match referee regarding the umpiring but in the spirit of the game let's bat out the day . I am sure we will get to bowl again:)

April 1, 2005, 07:45 PM
Lets hope for a draw people...

Its been a good game even though we have trailed for the whole match.

April 1, 2005, 07:46 PM
AgentSmith's slegging continues:
Yo Oracle, you still here? don't u konw i'm right behind you? give up your wicket and go back to the safe pavilion before i put my hand into your heart. u ha ha hu ha.........

Rana not out 52(62)

April 1, 2005, 08:24 PM
4/238 from 88 (Rana 56* Oracle 57*) Lead: 26 runs

This has been a brutal display by Rana, he's realised he might aswell play his natural game and go about building a lead while Oracle is contempt just to play second fiddle and tie down one end. When Oracle reached his half century Rana still on 0.

April 1, 2005, 08:27 PM
man ORACALE is a real captain

92.3 Radicalsami to Oracle, OUT, Big wicket this! Naheyan fires one down the legside, Oracle tries to flick it away to the fineleg boundary, overbalances and AgentSmith removes the bails

Oracle st:AgentSmith b:Radicalsami 62(123)

That's one of the best stumpings you will ever see, keeping up to the stumps to the medium pacer he wasn't distracted by the bat flying infront of his face, moved quickly and took it very well down the legside, changed direction and dislodged the bails, brilliant stumping! Oracle looked like the man who would stand between Team Aftab and victory.

April 1, 2005, 08:46 PM
94.1 Tehsin to Shoaun, one run, dropped! tries clearing the head of mid wicket, Sports_fan_bd covered a lot of ground and jumped high to claim the catch but when he hit the ground the ball fell out a life for Shaoun and Sports_fan drops back

April 1, 2005, 08:49 PM

94.3 Tehsin to Rana, OUT, Rana advances but Tehsin sees him coming and drops it short, Rana adjusts well and tries to clear the midwicket fence, SFBD makes up for his previous error by holding the catch about a foot from the boundary. The dangerman goes

Rana c:Sports_fan_bd b:Tehsin 81(88)

That was a magnifecent innings by Rana, he showed a Pietersenesque liking for the legside and took on all the bowlers. He took control of the partnership with Oracle and looked set to hit 100 in a session. He'll be disappointed to get out but has done a lot to get Team Nazmul into a competitive position

This was a great performance by Team Nazmul, they conquered the demons of the one-day game and started new, they worked as a team and fought hard for a draw. Many batsmen got good time at the crease and it was a fine effort overcoming the determined Team Aftab lineup. Team Aftab were never out of it but they did at times lose enthusiasm and they dropped a couple of catches which could prove costly. Team Aftab need 146 from 33 overs to pull off an amazing victory.

April 1, 2005, 11:43 PM
TAIF will open the bowling and Team Aftab keep the same openers.

0.1 TAIF to Pundit, FOUR, Overpitched and Pundit times it beautifully through extracover for four
0.2 TAIF to Pundit, FOUR, And again! Indenticle to the last ball, Pundit's not going to mess around and TAIF needs to sort out his runup

Ok i'll put my little bit in as the fellow commentator.

Well a very interesting match indeed. After the Batting performance in the OD match and another poor performance in the 1st innings no one expected such a spirited fightback in the 2nd innings. 1st their captain Oracle, leading from the front like a true captain should. But truly amazing was Rana... from his bat the Team Aftab bowlers were left utterly humiliated as everything they bowled was smashed out of the playing area. But sadly it wasn't enough as the Team Aftab Openers easily chased down the Target of 148. But one thing Team Nazmul can take heart from, they have proven they are no push overs and should not be taken lightly. The initial difficulties were due to the lack of experience. With a bit of luck they will prove to be more then a handful for their more senior counterparts.

April 2, 2005, 10:28 AM
AWww... we lost... AT least we can say we went down fighting.

I would say its a very comprehensible easy win for team Aftab. It was Pundit's awesome batting, our tight fielding and of course some outstanding bowling that drew the line between us and team Nazmul. I am a bit disappointed not to grab a 5 er but its our win at the end of the day that all matters. Wicket didn't have much turn even on day 4 and thats why I sticked more to deliver those arm balls. I am glad that the trick worked.

Team Aftab is more confident now and ready to give team Nafis a treat for their money. I say bring em on!:karate:

:bravo: lets hope we can win next matches

April 4, 2005, 04:07 PM
well.....i am really happy about the victory and our first innings performance but i think my bowling sucked in the 2nd innings....i was the most economical bowler in the first innings and the most expensive in the second innings...errrr....n e way i think it was a piece of cake for our extremely talented openers....well bowled NAVARENE

April 5, 2005, 11:15 AM
yo captain of the BC team...this time i'm opening for BC, i don't care...last time we went overseas to play sri lanka you guys made me bat at number six (although i'm an opener - i was getting the "Rokon") and i hardly got a bat :(

i hope my performance with the bat this season will push me up :)

Well you don't have Unknown to compete with now and you did hit a test century so I think you should be right. But you never know, those selectors are a bit dodgy :P

is there a full scorecard yet.
