The last of the above - 'ENG bt ZIM by an innings & 209 runs' was played during the year 2000.

I think at one glimpse - while posting the above links, I saw that ZIM were all out for below 100 in their first innings, Pakistan were also all out for below 100 in their first innings.

But, Sri Lanka scored over 400 runs and managed to get England all out for below 400.

So, all types of results are evident here - by different teams on their maiden tour of England and on their maiden test match in England at Lord's. I think Australia-England match was not the first test match of the series (it was the 2nd match) - all others, first or only test match was held in Lord's.

Traditionally, Lord's would always host the second Test following Edgbaston for the first. This was when there would be either one long tour (6 Tests) or two short tour (3 matches each). But in recent years, we have seen 7 Test summers and the calender has changed. For example, the first Test used to be in the middle of June, now the first Test in at the end of May. Also, with these short tours at the beginning of summer before a longer tour, the first Tests are now often hosted by Lord's rather than Edgbaston.

I remember the first Zimbabwe test from 5 years ago. Zimbabwe were completely outdone by the swing on the first day and didn't reach 100! That is why I think it is probably better for us to bowl first in order to get over the early nerves and knots in the stomach.

On a personal note, I received my ticket for the first day at Lord's today. :)

Well, you can call it that, but I prefer to think of it as sharing my joy with my BanglaCricket family! :)

ps. The ticket itself is really nice, has a Nakshi Kantha design on it. I was thinking of trying to scan it and putting it on here but then that might be taking it a bit far!

My dream is to see a bangladesh batsman score a century in that match. The most likely candidates seem to be Habibul Bashar and
Ashraful. ;)

I think it'll be nice to see the ticket....go ahead and put it up if its convinient. Also, you can perhaps hang out with the team and get a few interviews on BC's behalf.

I dont want rain. Would rather lose than have rain affected draws and washouts. Been waiting for this tour for a long time, I want to see some cricket! England are expected to beat us and beat us handsomely on their own backyard. The pressure is on them to give us a good hiding so that they can go into the Ashes full of confidence. We should try to dent that a little by making it as difficult for them as possible. All I want is for Bangladesh to fight, if they do that, I don't really care about what the result ends up being!
